Methods that establish data validity that are in tandem with Islamic tasawwur and epistemology are much needed in research, notably Islamic-related research. The data validity method must be able to determine data validity and differentiate between valid and non-valid data from the Islamic perspectives. The Naqd Hadith method is one of the methods employed by Hadith scholars to distinguish between accepted Hadith and rejected Hadith. This method is perceived as robust enough to distinguish between data that is valid or otherwise. The question is what are the Naqd Hadith methods that could be used as a method to establish data validity for Islamic-related studies and Islamic affairs? In what way could these methods be used in Islamic-related studies? There are two objectives in this research. Firstly, to identify the Naqd Hadith method discussed by Hadith scholars. Secondly, to identify emerging techniques extracted from the Naqd Hadith method to establish data validity for Islamic-related research. This research employed archive research to obtain secondary data that are related to Naqd Hadith methods. Data were analysed using content analysis method to obtain Naqd Hadith explicit data. These data were then analysed implicitly, that is, in the context of data validity through textual analysis. This research found that the scholars discussed and utilized eight Naqd Hadith methods. The research further identified 23 techniques from the Naqd Hadith methods that were used to establish validity for Islamic-related research. These findings could guide researchers in obtaining valid data or verifying the data validity in Islamic-related research.

Wasatiyyah consumerism is a consumerism model that is balanced, prudent and follows the needs of the wasatiyyah concept. God or Allah SWT has bestowed natural instincts to humans which consist of wants and needs; however, these wants and needs are fulfilled in inappropriate ways. This leads to numerous socio-economic problems, such as wastage, bankruptcy and a culture of indebtedness. Hence, in order to nurture individuals and a society that possesses high moral values and discipline based on Islamic values, wasatiyyah-consumerism ethics are a basic requirement for overcoming issues pertaining to ghuluw-consumerism (consuming beyond bounds). This working paper aims to identify and analyse wasatiyyah-consumerism ethics found in al-Qur'an. Which verses are relevant to wasatiyyah-consumerism ethics? What do these verses state? What are the fundamentals found in wasatiyyah-consumerism ethics? In order to answer these questions, this working paper only used secondary data, which were analysed using the content analysis method. The findings showed that wasatiyyah-consumerism ethics in al-Qur'an contain three fundamental elements: moderation, fairness and benevolence.

The obligation to pay income zakat has a significant effect on increasing the total collection of income zakat in Kelantan. Income zakat here refers to zakat that is liable on earnings that include emoluments and other forms of income. The Kelantan Islamic Religion and Malay Customs Council (MAIK) made this mandatory in Kelantan on 16 March 1999. The creation of this fatwa (religious decree) had inadvertently affected the increase in total collection of income zakat in Kelantan. For example, from 2001 to 2013, the percentage of zakat collected had increased to 18.55%, from 5.98%. The question is, what are the factors that influence the compliance by the muzakki to pay income zakat at MAIK? This qualitative study used primary and secondary data. The primary data was obtained by distributing questionnaires to respondents, whereas the secondary data was obtained from previous studies and literature reviews related to the compliance to pay income zakat. All the data were analysed using the content analysis method. Lastly, this study found that the factors that influenced the muzakki compliance to pay income zakat at MAIK were factors such as the level of satisfaction, needs of the state, attitude towards the state, facilities, confidence and quality of service.
