This research is motivated by the low ability students in finding ideas principal authorshipnarration in class IV SDN 003 Pagaran Tapah Darussalam. Goals to be achieved in thisresearch is to improve the ability of students in the basic idea for narrative writing in class IVSDN 003 Pagaran Tapah Darussalam through DRTA Strategy (directed reading thinkingactivity) carried out for 1 month. This research was conducted in SDN 003 Pagaran TapahDarussalam. Classes are meticulous researchers are class IV by the number of students asmany as 20 people. The study of this class action commenced in early September 2014. Thisform of research is classroom action research. The research instrument consists ofinstruments teacher and student activity sheets and achievement test. Based on the results ofthe study, the research concluded that the ability to search for the key idea fourth gradestudents of SDN 003 Pagaran Tapah Darussalam can be enhanced through DRTA strategy.This is evident from the increase in the student's ability in finding the key idea of the strategyDRTA before being applied to the second cycle of the second meeting. Known frompreliminary data the average value of students is 63. If the views of classical completeness,there are 30% of students (6) who finished obtaining a minimum value of 65 (according to thestandard KKM), the first cycle the first meeting denganrata average increased to 65, 3%circuitry completeness reach 10 or 50%, while in the second meeting mkembali increased to69.5 by the thoroughness of 12 people or 60% and sikluy II first meeting back in an averageincrease of 75% with the thoroughness of 16 or 80% and increased again in meetings second,reaching 80.5% with 100% completeness. The overall ability of students increased from theinitial tests until the fourth meeting of (20%). Thus, this study was successful

This study was attempted to improve students’ achievement in writing narrativetext by watching movies. This study was conducted by using classroom action researchin two cycles. Cycle I consisted of four meetings while Cycle II consisted of twomeetings. The subject of the research was class VIII-A SMP SWASTA IMMANUELMEDAN. The number of the students was 34. To collect the data, the instruments werequantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative data was the scores of the studentsand the qualitative data was interview sheets, observation sheets, and diary notes. Basedon the writing score, students’ score were improving in every test. It can be seen inOrientation test, Test I in Cycle I, and Test II in Cycle II. In Orientation test, the meanscore was 37.94 then it was improved to 65.85 in Test I. In the end of cycle II, the meanscore for test II was again improved to 83.41. Based on interview sheets, observationsheets and diary notes, it was found that teaching-learning process ran well. In line withthe data, it showed that the application of watching movies significantly improvedstudent’s achievement in writing narrative text. English teachers were suggested to givemovies to be watched as guidance on students’ narrative writing in the class.

Abstract This study attempts to see the effect of Think, Talk, and Write strategy on the students’ narrative writing competence. Considering the importance of the use of teaching media, this study tries to integrate Stick Figure as a teaching media in Think, Talk, and Write Strategy. A quasi experimental study was conducted to see the improvement of the students’ narrative writing competence. It involved 42 students who were selected on the basis of convenience sampling and assigned into two groups; experimental and control groups. The statistical analyses of paired sample t-test in experimental group showed that there was significant improvement on the students’ writing competence before (M=5.77, SD= 2.342) and after (M= 11.79, SD= 2.342), t(21)=12.059, p<0.05.Moreover, the result of independent t-test between experimental and control groups showed a significant difference. It can be seen that the mean differences was 3.79545 and the significance value is lower than 0.05, 0.000<0.05.

This research is motivated by problems in the learning process, namely students have difficulty in expressing their ideas into writing or essays. The formation of words or sentences used by students is inaccurate or inappropriate, as well as the use of punctuation and spelling. In learning activities writing the teacher is more likely to apply teaching writing by prioritizing the results of the process. This study aims to improve narrative writing skills using the scientific method of class VI SDN 07 VII Koto Talago, Guguak District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency. The method used in this study is qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative research is research that intends to understand phenomena, about what is experienced by research subjects such as behavior, perceptions, motivations, actions and others. The results of the study describe learning using the Scientific method can improve student learning outcomes which initially in pre-cycle only reached 64 who are in sufficient qualifications. In the first cycle increased to 74 who were in qualifications more than enough, after the second cycle, the students' scores increased again being an average of 90 who are in excellent qualification. The increase includes three indicators, namely (1) narrative characteristics, (2) use of punctuation, (3) capital letters. Third, improving narrative writing skills using the Scientific method of class VI SDN 07 VII Koto Talago District of Guguak, Lima Puluh Kot Regency can be achieved due to several factors including teachers and students. Based on the results above it can be concluded that the narrative text writing skills using the scientific method increased, from sufficient qualifications to more qualifications until they were in excellent qualifications. Thus it can be concluded that, through the cooperative method the type of make a match improvement in students' essay writing skills increased significantly from stage to stage.Key Words: escritura de narrativas, métodos científicos
