Malaysia is one of the signatories to the proclamations of Asia & Pacific Decade of Disabled Persons (1993-2002), yet Malaysia is still lacking of comprehensive laws as regards to rights of persons with disabilities. The only law available is the Uniform Building (Amendment) By Laws, 1991(UBBL Amendment 1991) that provides for building requirements for disabled persons. This by law may be regarded as an initial step taken by Malaysia to ensure a disabled person’s right to full participation in social development. Despite the existence of this by law, most buildings in Malaysia do not have proper facilities or provide easy access for persons with disabilities. Similarly as far as housing is concerned there is no statutory requirement stipulating that housing (in particular public housing) should be designed to accommodate the needs of persons with disabilities. It is the aim of this article to look into some legal provisions related to barrier free buildings including housing in Malaysia.

The aim of this study was to determine the impact of the impairment of the body functions on the participation of people with disabilities in sports activities. Material and methods. The study was carried out in the institutions mostly attended by people with severe physical disabilities. The participants took a modified Kenny test and answered the questions of a questionnaire. The study sample consisted of 35 persons with severe physical disabilities. Results. The findings of this study showed that people with disabilities who were not engaged in sports were of much worse opinion about their health condition (P=0.02) and they needed more help from family or friends (P=0.035) compared to the disabled who were not engaged in sports, but in the group of people with disabilities who were engaged in sports, the correlations of those indicators were statistically significant (r=0.59 and r=0.68, respectively). The main motivation of sports participation of people with disabilities (about 80%) was the need for communication and gaining independence. Health improvement was mentioned by less than half of people with disabilities (about 41%) engaged in sports. Conclusions. The syndrome of movement function impairment, duration of impairment, marital status, the age of persons with disabilities, and objectively determined impairment of biosocial self-service functions did not impact sports participation of people with disabilities. However, subjective sensation of pain and the need of medical aid, which did not match the objective functional impairments, could be the obstacle for people with disabilities to participate in sports.

Kata Kunci: Cooperate Social Responsibility (CSR), Disabilitas, Kesempatan Kerja AbstractThe state has an obligation for its citizens to respect each other's differences, be it cultural, religious, or physical conditions between people. In this world there is no one who is perfect, but there are people who do not have physical conditions like normal people. They are people with disabilities, which are included in vulnerable communities, because they have physical limitations so they feel difficulties related to social functioning. Disability comes from the word disability or disabilities, which means disability. Disability has become an issue that is always listened to by the community but there are also many people who feel they don't care about people with disabilities. Only a few people with disabilities are able to work like normal people, because they find it difficult to get a job especially with physical conditions that can be said to be incomplete, they only work as beggars on the side of the road who are always looking for mercy from the outside community to give him money to continue his daily life. However, not all people with disabilities always become beggars, they are able to continue to live despite their physical limitations, for example finding decent work for them and not always asking for mercy from the wider community. Companies like Alfamart are always active in appointing persons with disabilities as their employees. Alfamart not only employs 0.1% of people with disabilities in his company, but only 0.4% in appointing people with disabilities as employees over the years. So with this CSR, persons with disabilities will be able to become decent workers and be able to carry out their social functioning in the life of the community. Keywords: Cooperate Social Responsibility (CSR), Disability, Job Opportunities

Being considered equal to normal people in general is a dream that people with disa-bilities really want to realize. The public's view of disability has constructed the stig-ma that people with disabilities are unable to move like normal people specifically relating to physical exercise.. The difficulty of dismantling the stigma that is already inherent and generalizing persons with disabilities with physical disability or mal-function becomes a particular challenge faced by persons with disabilities as a mi-nority group. This paper uses the constructivist paradigm as a point of view in look-ing at understanding the complexity of social construction. The phenomenological method used in this study will explore the perspective of individuals with disabilities through self-concept "me" as an object that is the result of community construction, try to be replaced with "I" as a subject that is reconstructed through the help of so-cial media with self-actualization amid physical limitations which is owned. This study found that messages through social media that contain hopes and big dreams which imply that people with disabilities also have physical abilities and expertise equivalent to normal people in general. Various attempts were made, even more so by utilizing social media as a means of proving to the world about "This Is Me"and “I Can Do Anything

It is acknowledged that access to tourism by persons with disabilities continues to be shaped by a variety of constraints that are not being clearly or consistently addressed by those in charge of tourism planning and management. Based on these assumptions, this chapter is focused on the identification of structural constraints and negotiation strategies that influence the decision and participation to travel for people with physical disabilities. To achieve these objectives, the chapter used a qualitative methodology, with the analysis and discussion of the information collected through in-depth interviews. Results may ultimately contribute to deepen the knowledge about the factors that influence people with disabilities travel choices, allowing to identify specific recommendations for improving the tourist supply chain and, consequently, for the overall tourist experience quality.

Proverbs are an important feature of any language worldwide. In Africa, for instance, people in their everyday conversations use proverbs to add special effects and flavour. However, the inclusion of proverbs in speech goes beyond mere decoration. As a repository of African knowledge and culture, proverbs serve as a medium for educating present and future generations about society’s cultural values, beliefs, and ethics. In this powerful role, proverbs may have significant effects on speakers and their listeners. While these effects may be positive, in terms of their references to certain groups of people, proverbs may have telling effects. In this paper, we examined samples of Ghanaian Akan proverbs on mental and physical disabilities and their meanings, using critical discourse analysis and guided by labeling theory. We conclude that Akan proverbs predominantly label people with disabilities negatively, thereby leading to their stigmatization, marginalization, and exclusion. We recommend using proverbs with negative connotations for people with disabilities as a tool to educate society on how not to treat people with disabilities.
