Tourism is a global industry that brings considerable revenue to all states that know how to manage it. This chapter highlights aspects related to entrepreneurship in tourism along the Danube Shore (Clisura Dunării), a touristic area of extreme natural beauty, along with anthropogenic sights, a zone that can become a development engine for the region, by capitalizing on local resources and engaging related industries. The first part of the work presents the current state of knowledge in the field of entrepreneurship and, in particular, of entrepreneurship in tourism, in order to later describe the Danube Shore and the most representative touristic sites for this area. The chapter also presents aspects related to the analysis of the correlations between the GDP of Caraş-Severin County and the number of overnight stays, as well as the results of a study on the touristic potential of the Danube Shore, a study conducted through a survey based on a questionnaire.

In the near future, combustion engineers will shape the burner according to the flame, and not the opposite way anymore. In this contribution, this idea is explored with the help of additive manufacturing (AM). The focus is put on the design and the production of swirlers using advanced materials with the least possible efforts in terms of manufacturing. The material chosen for this study is Inconel 718. There are three motivations to this project. The first one is to design new shapes and assess these in comparison to conventional ones. The second motivation is to be able to manufacture them using additive manufacturing, and to gather know-how on selective laser melting. The third motivation is to elaborate a methodology involving engineering, research and education to promote — only if and when this is desirable — the production of series of premium parts such as high-end components of gas turbine combustor using AM. First-of-a-kind swirler shapes are explained and designed. These are unlikely to be produced using conventional manufacturing. They are then successfully produced in Inconel 718 using AM. The raw parts are directly submitted for testing with no surface post-processing. The paper states why at current state-of-the-art the raw surface quality still needs improvement, and highlights the benefits of the new swirler shape versus conventional.

Phenological stages of many grapevine cultivars appear in earlier parts of the year. However, we do not know how different cultivars are affected by this trend. The aim of this study was to compare the phenological stages of grapevine cultivars recorded in two different periods (1986–1998 and 2013–2018) in North Serbia (Vojvodina). The investigation was carried out on five red (Cabernet sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot noir, Prokupac, Probus) and five white cultivars (Chardonnay, Muscat ottonel, Riesling italico, Smederevka and Petra). The phenological observations included the beginning of budburst, flowering and veraison. The beginning of all phenological stages in all cultivars in the period (2013–2018) occurred in earlier parts of the year, compared to the historical data. Local cultivars (Prokupac, Probus, Smederevka and Petra) showed less shift of the beginning of budburst in respect to the historical data (only six days earlier) compared to the international cultivars. One of the most important phenological stages, flowering, has been shifted ten days in the earlier part of the year. The biggest differences were observed for the beginning of veraison. Now, it occurs earlier from 9 (Petra) to 17 days (Merlot). Duration of the period from budburst to flowering was inconsistent and cultivars required almost the same number of days as it was in the past. However, the duration between flowering and veraison was shorter in the last six years. The biggest difference was observed in Merlot where the period between flowering and veraison has been seven days shortened.

A lasting success of business activities regardless of their location, nature, size and industry isnow dependent on the degree of innovation. Innovation is a way for modern enterprises to survive in thechanging market, and a response to customer needs, including their formation, but also seeking waysto develop the internal businesses, particularly in its organization and ideas. Innovation today cannotbe limited to the creation of new technological solutions, and then their implementation into industrialproduction. A particular kind of a modern business model, which has been recently developing inPoland and which is an example of an innovative organization in many fields, is the franchise, the focusof this article. In the article, the principles of operation and the current state of development of franchise networksin Poland is explained, and then the innovative features of franchise business in general, resultingfrom franchise agreements, are analyzed. In the final part of the article, examples of innovations arepresented: technological, market and organizational innovations, used in various franchise industries. In the article, the author also pays attention to the unique character of the franchise system, basedon assistance and transfer of know-how to its franchisees by the entrepreneur, which reduces therisk arising from the start-up of new economic activity, and affects the fast and multi-dimensionaldevelopment of franchise networks.

This paper presents a Systematic Literature Review (RSL) on the use of Gamification and Augmented Reality applied in Education. RSL enabled mapping and knowledge of the current state of related studies. Thirty articles related to the state of the art were analyzed. From the analysis, it was found that there is no specific learning assessment methodology when applying the Augmented Reality and Gamification tools. An analysis of the results was made to answer the research questions. The study showed that lack of programming knowledge is also a factor that hinders the advancement of research since the researcher must know how to develop the application or have in his team someone who has the competence to do so. Finally, we present the comparatives and analyzes of the studies to obtain answers based on the research questions developed.

The main goal is to maximize automation of system design and analysis stages in order to create formal and nonlinear models of the system. Many modern CASE tools support structural and object-oriented methodologies for analyzing and designing information systems. The software is intended for solving specific user tasks and mainly for organizing the computing process of an information system. The application package is a powerful tool for automating user-defined tasks. It completely frees the user from the need to know how the functions and procedures of information processing are performed on the computer. CASE technologies are usually used when creating complex information systems that require collective project implementation. The absolute advantage of CASE technology is that documents are always responsible for the current state of work. Because any changes in the project are automatically displayed in the database.

Nowadays tourists are increasingly seeking learning and educational experiences while on holidays. This interest has led institutions and organizations that served some years ago predominantly to education purposes to create tourism product with the focus on the general public. These tourism products include learning or education components providing professional information in a way that is acceptable also to non-professional visitors. Arboretums are one of these establishments that provide a wide range of possibilities for the practical teaching of students in primary biological disciplines but also attract visitors because of their natural beauty and relaxing atmosphere. Reflecting versatility of the arboretum, the authors outline primary the forms of educational tourism; they characterize the Arboretum Borová hora (the supply side) and analyze the visitation (demand side) of the arboretum. After reviewing the current state of scientific knowledge in educational tourism, the following research question was formulated: Can guided tours enhance the visitation of the Arboretum? The results of the regression analysis confirmed that the targeted introduction of novelties (or new impetus) for arboretum visitors (guided tours) increased the overall arboretum traffic and awareness of Arboretum Borová hora.

This is a case study of the U.S. pharmaceutical producer, Merck & Co. By 1940 this was one of the leading pharmaceutical producers in the United States, and the company went on to become one of the global industry leaders after World War II. It was founded in 1891 as the U.S. subsidiary of a much larger German pharmaceutical company, E. Merck of Darmstadt. The existing understanding of Merck & Co.’s history emphasizes how it was reacquired by the American branch of the Merck family after wartime sequestration, and from then onward it pursued a path of development separate from its former parent. This article revisits that history of the company and shows how the two Mercks began to cooperate and share technology and manufacturing know-how during the 1930s, something that was particularly to the advantage of Merck & Co.
