The article reflects the results of research on the topic «History and cultural heritage of the settlements of the Ulyanovsk region." The subject of the research is the history of the St. Michael the Archangel's Church and the Kazan-Mother of God church in the villages of Birlya and Taburnoe (now belonging to Melekessky district of the Ulyanovsk region). The purpose of the article is to identify the most important periods of the above-mentioned churches from the end of the 19-th century to the 1950-s, to establish the composition of the clergy, and the educational work of the clergy among the population. Analysis of unpublished documents from the Central State Archives of the Samara Region allowed to establish: the ethnic composition of the settlements, socio-economic status of inhabitants, reasons and patterns of migration of the local population; the foundation and liquidation dates of the churches, facts of life of church ministers and parish; statistical data on the economic structure of the clergy. The Mikhailo-Arkhangelsk and Kazan-Mother of God churches in the villages of Birlya and Taburnoye are lost monuments of the Orthodox cultural heritage. Mikhailo-Arkhangelsk and Kazan-Mother of God churches were built, respectively, at the end of the 19th century. and destroyed in the first half of the 1950-s. in connection with the construction of the Kuibyshev hydroelectric power station, and their location is flooded by a reservoir.

The rapid spread of storm floods over large areas requires flood management throughout the river basin by the creation an innovative system of flood control facilities of various functional purposes distributed in the area. The central part of the system is the hydro system with hydro power plant. In addition, the flood control facilities on the side tributaries with self-regulating reservoir are included in the system. To assess the effect of controlling extreme water discharges by flood control facilities, it is necessary to develop special mathematical models reflecting the specifics of their operation. Unified mathematical models of the operation modes of a hydro complex with hydroelectric power station and flood control facility are created. They are implemented in a computer program that provides the ability to determine the main parameters and operating characteristics of hydro systems when performing multivariate calculations in a wide range of initial data. This makes possible specifying the parameters and operation modes of each hydro system with the current economic and environmental requirements, to assess the energy-economic and environmental consequences in the operation of the system of flood control facilities distributed in the area. The article analyses the results of the extreme water discharge’s regulation by the hydro system on the main river and flood control facilities on the side tributaries, considering environmental requirements.

Objective: Chirkeyskaya HPP is by far the most powerful hydroelectric power plant in the North Caucasus with the highest arched dam in Russia and the second highest dam in the country after the Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP. This explains why it is called the pearl of the Caucasus. Methods: For the operation and maintenance of this unique structure, a large-scale complex of underground structures for various purposes was built, the technical condition of which must be constantly monitored. To carry out work on the survey of underground structures, the management of the design and survey institute of JSC “Lengidroproekt” decided to attract specialists from the Department of Tunnels and Subways and the Test Center “Strength” of Emperor Alexander I Petersburg State Transport University. The work was successfully carried out at the end of 2015. Results: The safety of underground structures was objectively assessed. Recommendations for the repair and further comprehensive reconstruction of the Chirkeyskaya HPP have been developed. Practical importance: Carry out work on the survey of underground structures of Chirkeyskaya HPP is allowes elaborate of complex measures on safety from Chirkeyskaya HPP.

The purpose. The purpose of the work is the theoretical and practical studies of the possibilities for using the geoinformation web-system modern technologies for improving the efficiency of hydrobiological monitoring, and design of software tools of data presentation and analysis for field research. Methods. The technologies for development of distributed information systems in multi-tier architecture, along with software interfaces and protocols, information exchange standards are considered. The possibilities for using of geoinformation and cartographic modelling methods for searching the relationship between the spatial distributions of Baikal amphipods in the Yenisei river with different environmental factors are investigated. Results. The technologies and related software are developed for the considered problem. The geospatial database is generated and filled with the results of own longterm hydrobiological field studies, it has become an integral part of the geoportal of ICM SB RAS, which was formed by the separate thematic section. The focus is on the results of extensive field studies of the Yenisei implemented in 2015 and 2016. As to database content, the information about the quantitative distribution of zoobenthos (animals inhabiting the ponds bottom), in particular endemic Baikal amphipods, in the area from Yenisei river headwaters to its delta was used. It was revealed that the amphipods — the endemics of the Baikal lake — spread far beyond its limits not only downward, but also upstream the Yenisei river. After the commissioning of the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power station, their share in the total zoobenthos biomass is increased by 10 times. Gmelinoides fasciatus crustacean is especially active; it has massively populated the area of the Upper Yenisei river below the Sayano-Shushensky reservoir. The density and the fraction of crustaceans in the zoobenthos in the area of the Angara — Podkamennaya Tunguska has increased over the last 15 years. Conclusions. Creation of a geospatial database alongside with the results of expeditionary research and the introduction of a GIS web-system for information-analytical support of hydrobiological monitoring significantly expands opportunities for the analysis and presentation of geodata, forms the basis for interdisciplinary research.

INTRODUCTION: Study of the temporal activity of malaria vectors during the implantation of a hydroelectric power station on the River Paraná, intended to generate electrical energy. The river separates the States of São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul, in Brazil. The objective was to verify whether alterations occurred in the wealth and diversity indices of Anopheles, following two successive floods, extended to the temporal activity and nycthemeral rhythm followed over a five year period. METHODS: Mosquito capture was performed monthly using the Human Attraction Technique and Shannon Traps. The first, executed for 24h, provided the nycthemeral rhythm and the second, lasting 15h, permitted the tracking of Anopheles during the two floods. RESULTS: The bimodal pattern of Anopheles darlingi defined before these floods was modified throughout the environment interventions. The same effect had repercussions on the populations of An albitarsis s.l., An triannulatus and An galvaoi. Activity prior to twilight was less affected by the environment alterations. CONCLUSIONS: The dam construction provoked changes in Anopheles temporal activity patterns, permitting classification of the area as an ecologically steady and unstable situation. Differences observed in Anopheles behavior due to the capture methods revealed the influence of solo and multiple attractiveness inside the populations studied.

Labudovo okno locality (50 m-84 m elevation) is situated in the south-eastern part of the edge of the Pannonian Plains, resting along the left bank of the Danube between 1982 km and 1078 km. The investigated locality is the result of rise of the Danube level after dam building of the hydroelectric power station Djerdap I. The vegetation comprises aquatic associations of the classes Hydrochari-Lemnetea Oberd. 1967 and Potametea Tx. et Prsg. 1942. The class Hydrochari-Lemnetea Oberd. 1967 includes the following phytocoenoses: Lemno-Spirodeletum W. Koch 1954, Salvinio-Spirodeletum polyrrhizae Slavnic 1956, Lemno minoris-Azolletum filiculoides Br.-Bl. 1952, Ceratophylletum demersi (So? 27) Hild 1956.
