The focus of this volume is broad, both historically and topically.Berlin and Vienna, modernity and postmodernity, the twentieth centuryand two incisive Wenden of a tumultuous millennium offer anopportunity to examine central issues in the relationship amongEuropean culture, history, and politics. Cities provide a rich locationto examine expressions of creativity, growth, and change over thecourse of one hundred years. As a transit point of entry and exit, thecity becomes a site for exchange and cross-fertilization of peoples,ideas, and commodities. Cities are nodes in a network whose spokesextend beyond their metropolitan borders and bring intellectual andphysical nourishment to surrounding areas. This European centurywill be known for its great cities and the production of culturalobjects that spread around the globe. Less dramatically, neverthelesssignificant for the transfer of knowledge, academic figures will alsobe remembered for the dissemination of these intellectual traditionsto generations of students who were fortunate to cross their paths.Hinrich C. Seeba, professor of German at the University of California,Berkeley, from 1967 to the present, is one such person.

The article deals with the problem of interrelation of linguistic base of development of native and foreign speech activity of schoolchildren and students. The authors identify the actual difficulties experienced by Chinese students in mastering the Russian language at an advanced stage in the University, and justify the assumption that one of the reasons for difficulties in the creation of a complete text is in the margin of the linguistic base (insufficient information about the text) development of native language activity in the school to the needs of foreign language teaching at the University . In search of the reason, the authors carry out a comparative analysis of school programs in the native language of the two countries - Ukraine and China – and provide an opportunity for the pedagogical community to get acquainted with the content of training on the development of speech activity, with the structure of programs in order to understand and choose a more effective way of building the program and filling it with the necessary content from the field of linguistics of the text. This information, according to scientists, is the basis for the development of both native and foreign speech. Strengthening the school base for the development of a speech activity in the field of the native language will contribute to the transfer of knowledge and skills from the field of the native language to the field of foreign language and, thus, overcome the difficulties in mastering the ability to create a complete text in a foreign language, since the laws of construction of the text are similar in different languages. The continuity of knowledge between the links of the educational system in this aspect is an important condition for the effectiveness of mastering communicative competence, and its observance is the care of the compilers of programs and textbooks.

Resumo: O objetivo geral deste artigo é refletir, a partir de uma pesquisa em curso, sobre a marcante presença da religião neopentecostal no cotidiano de uma comunidade remanescente de quilombo, em Campos dos Goytacazes, principal cidade da região Norte Fluminense. O referencial teórico integra a Psicologia Social Comunitária e a Psicossociologia e expõe-se a experiência de campo que teve suas primeiras aproximações nessa comunidade rural em 2016. A metodologia é participativa e articula ensino, pesquisa e extensão na Universidade Federal Fluminense, neste sentido, aposta-se nas aberturas possíveis em direção a liberdade religiosa e a igualdade entre os cidadãos. Apresenta-se uma discussão da função ocupada pela religião no referencial freudiano e do surgimento das religiões pentecostais e neopentecostais no Brasil.Observa-se que muitas dessas comunidades remanescentes de quilombos, tem posições de apagamento de sua memória histórica. Entende-se o caráter dinâmico e provisório de toda pesquisa, entretanto, admite-se que a troca da universidade com os sujeitos comunitários promove a democratização do conhecimento e a construção de saberes periféricos. Conclui-se no percurso da presente investigação, a desconsideração da cultura, da história e das tradições religiosas afro-brasileiras. Diante de condições de vida precárias, a ilusão religiosa oferece alguns amparos e referências numa localidade que acredita-se esquecida pelo Estado. No contexto comunitário destaca-se a importância da aproximação com as políticas públicas e, em especial, as políticas de igualdade étnica e racial e para que essa ação se efetive, enfatiza-se na prática profissional a articulação entre aspectos microestruturais e macroestruturais.Palavras-chave: Comunidade rural. Psicossociologia. Abstract: The general objective of this article is to reflect, based on an ongoing research, on the remarkable presence of the neopentecostal religion in the daily life of a remnant quilombo community, in Campos dos Goytacazes, the main city in the Northern Fluminense region. The theoretical framework integrates Community Social Psychology and Psychosociology and exposes the field experience that had its first approaches in this rural community in 2016. The methodology is participatory and articulates teaching, research and extension at the Universidade Federal Fluminense, in this sense, bets the possible openings towards religious freedom and equality among citizens. A discussion is presented of the role occupied by religion in the Freudian framework and the rise of Pentecostal and Neopentecostal religions in Brazil. It is observed that many of these remaining quilombo communities have positions to erase their historical memory. The dynamic and provisional nature of all research is understood, however, it is admitted that the exchange of the university with community subjects promotes the democratization of knowledge and the construction of peripheral knowledge. It concludes in the course of the present investigation, the disregard of afro-brazilian culture, history and religious traditions. Faced with precarious living conditions, the religious illusion offers some support and references in a location that has been forgotten by the State. The relationship between macrostructural and microstructural aspects constitutes an important commitment in the community context as a bridge to approach public policies and, in particular, policies of ethnic and racial equality.Keywords: Rural community. The study focused basically on measuring the relationship between the material cost of the students benefits program and the benefits which are earned by it, which was distributed on college students in the initial stages (matinee) and to show the extent of the benefits accruing from the grant program compared to the material burdens which matched and the extent of success or failure of the experience and its effect from o scientific and side on the Iraqi student through these tough economic circumstances experienced by the country in general, and also trying to find ways of proposed increase or expansion of distribution in the future in the event of proven economic feasibility from the program. An data has been taking from the data fro the Department of Financial Affairs and the Department of Studies and Planning at the University of Diyala with taking an data representing an actual and minimized pattern and questionnaires to a sample of students from the Department of Life Sciences in the Faculty of Education of the University of Diyala on the level of success and failure of students in the first year of the grant and the year before for the purpose of distribution comparison. The importance of the study to measure the extent of interest earned in comparision whit the material which is expenseon the program of grant (grant of students) to assist the competent authorities to continue or not in the program of student grants for the coming years.

The relationship between the university services marketing and the leading orientation and their impact in enhancing the university reputation: Field study on a sample of administrative leaders in       private universities in the Erbil city Objective - The current study try to find the role of marketing university services (educational services, research services, community services) and the leading orientation (research mobilization, distinction, cooperation, university policies, proactive) as independent variables in enhancing the university's reputation as dependent a variable (Social responsibility, innovation, quality of service, image of the organization) in a sample of private universities in the Erbil city. Methodology of the study - The problem of the study was determined in several questions related to the nature of the correlation relationship - the effect of independent study variables (marketing of university services and leadership orientation) and the dependent variable (the reputation of the university). For this purpose, the hypotheses were subjected to multiple tests. The study used the questionnaire as a means to obtain data from the administrative leaders of the investigated universities. - The study was used the analytical descriptive method. The main and sub-variables were described and correlation and effect relationships were analyzed between the variables using advanced statistical methods (arithmetic mean, standard deviation, percentages, Pearson correlation, multiple regression test) , And the implementation of the statistical program (SPSS-Ver.18). The study was conducted in the educational sector in the city of Erbil, in order to obtain the necessary information for the field through a questionnaire prepared for this purpose and distributed to six universities. The number of respondents was (73) (Presidents of universities, their assistants, deans, their assistants, heads of departments) at the universities in question. The value of the study: The main conclusions of the study are the existence of a significant relationship between the variables of the study and the existence of a significant effect of the independent variable marketing of university services and the leading trend in the dependent variable universities reputation and the existence of variation of the effect of independent variables in the dependent variable in the universities investigated, A set of recommendations, the most important of which is the establishment of a center for the marketing of services at the university level and at the level of each college. In order to conduct a continuous study of the labor market to determine market needs, the university should be aware of the importance of marketing orientation in university education

This article employs a new approach to studying internal colonialism in northern Scotland during the 18th and 19th centuries. A common approach to examining internal colonial situations within modern state territories is to compare characteristics of the internal colonial situation with attested attributes of external colonial relations. Although this article does not reject the comparative approach, it seeks to avoid criticisms that this approach can be misleading by demonstrating that promoters and managers of projects involving land use change, territorial dispossession and industrial development in the late modern Gàidhealtachd consistently conceived of their work as projects of colonization. It further argues that the new social, cultural and political structures these projects imposed on the area's indigenous population correspond to those found in other colonial situations, and that racist and racialist attitudes towards Gaels of the time are typical of those in colonial situations during the period. The article concludes that the late modern Gàidhealtachd has been a site of internal colonization where the relationship of domination between colonizer and colonized is complex, longstanding and occurring within the imperial state. In doing so it demonstrates that the history and present of the Gaels of Scotland belongs within the ambit of an emerging indigenous research paradigm.

To assess the progressive teaching practicums included in an English Teaching Programme at a Chilean university, 60 former student-teachers answered a questionnaire with both Likert-scale and open-ended questions. The issues assessed included the relationship between the progressive teaching practicums and the curriculum’s modules and sequence, and the skills developed while implementing innovation projects during the student-teachers’ two final practicums. Quantitative and qualitative data analyses allowed us to identify both strengths and weaknesses. The participants highlighted strengths in the areas of teaching strategies, critical thinking skills and professional and pedagogical knowledge. Among the weaknesses, they identified limited supervision and feedback, and diverging views on teaching education between the university and the schools as the most difficult to deal with. These findings may be useful for introducing improvements in Initial Teacher Education aimed at reducing problems and discrepancies and devising suitable induction processes.

Faculty engagement has been proved to be a critical driver of the universities’ efficiency and effectiveness. The first step towards building an engaged workforce is to get a measure of faculty perceptions of their engagement level to their universities. Accordingly, the purpose of this paper is to investigate the faculty members' engagement in the Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University. It examines the relationship between the faculty professional variablesand their level of engagement to their institutions. William Kahn's (1990) three-component model of employee engagement was partially adapted as a framework to measure the faculty members' engagement. A questionnaire was used to better address the objective of this study. The data were obtained from the Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (Dammam University) through an internet-based survey. The validity and the reliability of the questionnaire has been evaluated and reported. Results of the analyses show that cognitive engagement is reported to be higher than both the emotional and physical engagement, with a mean rating of 4.040 and a standard deviation of .487, based on the five-point scale. Given the engagement level of the faculty members in this study, the university administrators should develop policies, and strategies that encourage and support engagement among faculty members at the University in order to maximize their engagement. Policy makers must also take into consideration the needs of the faculty members

Recent work exploring student reactions to the anthropology of development highlights the importance of going beyond simply imparting practical skills, or alternatively delivering content that offers an unrelenting critique (Djohari 2011; Handler 2013). In this paper, I argue that by casting an anthropological eye on the classroom, teachers can provide a learning environment in which students transform into reflective ‘novice’ practitioners equipped for lifelong learning. This involves making explicit the processes of knowledge construction in the classroom, and by extension, the development field. It entails providing the resources through which students can become social beings in the development sector, with attention to expanding the possibilities for the formation of multiple identities.
