As a background for recreation, the forest is gaining in importance – in particular in tourist resorts and in built-up areas. In our leisure time and during our holidays we increasingly flee from our hectic and nondescript everyday life to seek peace and relaxation in distinctive landscapes. Many people perceive the forest as synonymous with nature. The forest is a secret place full of ancient mysteries, which today still accompany and fascinate visitors. This transmuted view of the forest is an excellent example of people's estrangement from the natural world. The truth is that the forest is an «artificial» place, formed by man. The spirit of the epoch, ecological opinions, economical and political constraints put their stamp on the shape of the forest landscape and correspondingly on its management. This discrepancy leads to conflict between visitors and forest managers and leaves the concept of sustainable development wrecked on the grounds of mutual misunderstandings. A closer discussion between forestry specialists on the one hand, and those seeking relaxation or offering leisure and tourist activities on the other, is absolutely necessary. In particular the tourist industry, which uses and commercializes the forest landscape as idyllic scenery, should take on more responsibility for the implementation of a sustainable development.

Abstract This article examines the structural analogy between the literary idyll and tourism that lies in the specific difference between idyllic and touristic spaces on the one hand and those of a modern, functionally differentiated, and rational everyday life on the other. The peak in the production of literary idylls as well as the onset of tourism in the late 18th and early 19th century can thus be conceptualized as a reaction to experiences of alienation due to emerging processes of modernization. An analysis of Goethe’s Der Wandrer shows however how literary idylls not only helped to shape the tourist gaze, but also reflected on the touristic and idyllic experience as an experience between foreignness, alienation and belonging.

AbstractOn the rise over the past 20 years has been ‘moderate supernaturalism’, the view that while a meaningful life is possible in a world without God or a soul, a much greater meaning would be possible only in a world with them. William Lane Craig can be read as providing an important argument for a version of this view, according to which only with God and a soul could our lives have an eternal, as opposed to temporally limited, significance since we would then be held accountable for our decisions affecting others’ lives. I present two major objections to this position. On the one hand, I contend that if God existed and we had souls that lived forever, then, in fact, all our lives would turn out the same. On the other hand, I maintain that, if this objection is wrong, so that our moral choices would indeed make an ultimate difference and thereby confer an eternal significance on our lives (only) in a supernatural realm, then Craig could not capture the view, aptly held by moderate supernaturalists, that a meaningful life is possible in a purely natural world.

The principle of certainty of taxation is the dimension of a general requirement of certainty in the legal system. The purpose of this article is to argue the thesis that uncertainty in tax law is not always an absolute evil, sometimes it acts as a means of the most optimal (and in some cases the only possible) settlement of relations in the field of taxes. On the contrary, uncertainty and fragmentation in tax law are colossal problems subject to overcome by the efforts of scientists, legislators, judges, and practicing lawyers. Uncertainty in tax law is manifested in two ways: on the one hand, negatively—as a defect (omission) of the legislator and, on the other hand, positively—as a set of specific legal means and technologies that are purposefully used in lawmaking and law enforcement. In this context, relatively determined legal tools are an effective channel for transition from uncertainty to certainty in the field of taxation. A tendency towards increased use of relatively determined legal tools in lawmaking processes (for example, principles, evaluative concepts, judicial doctrines, standards of good faith and reasonableness, discretion, open-ended lists, recommendations, framework laws, silence of the law, presumptive taxation, analogy, etc.), and involving various actors (courts, law enforcement agencies and officials, international organizations, citizens, organizations and their associations) allow making tax laws more dynamic flexible, and adequate to changing realities of everyday life.

ResuméArtiklen omhandler et toårigt forskningsprojekt på VIA Pædagoguddannelse om klubpædagogisk professionsidentitet. I forskningsprojektet er der udført 11 kvalitative semistrukturerede interviews. Ud fra interviewene konstruerer vi analytisk tre dominerende narrativer: klubpædagogen som demokratisk medborgerskaber, frihedens klubpædagog og klubpædagogen som sælger. Ud fra narrativerne præsenterer vi tre større historisk og kulturelt forankrede nøglefortællinger om klubpædagogisk professionsidentitet. De to første narrativer indeholder nøglefortællinger om demokrati og frihed, der trækker på klassisk reformpædagogik og kritisk frigørende pædagogik. Heroverfor indeholder narrativet pædagogen som sælger en historisk nyere nøglefortælling om markedsgørelse. Vi betragter mødet mellem nøglefortællingerne som en mere overordnet fortælling om klubpædagogisk professionsidentitet mellem tradition og forandring. Afslutningsvis diskuterer vi, hvilke udfordringer og muligheder mødet mellem nøglefortællingerne, nærmere bestemt mødet mellem demokrati og frihed på den ene side og markedsgørelse på den anden, potentielt kan indeholde i forhold til klubpædagogisk professionsidentitet og omverdenens anerkendelse. På den ene side kan markedsgørelsen tolkes som risiko for dekonstruktion af klubpædagogisk professionsidentitet, der vil kunne udhule nøglefortællingerne om demokrati og frihed. På den anden side kan der argumenteres for, at netop nøglefortællingen om markedsgørelsen kan tolkes som mulighed for at styrke de to andre nøglefortællinger og at den sigt vil kunne bidrage til stabilisering og anerkendelse af klubpædagogisk professionsidentitet. AbstractLeisure time pedagogue working in youth clubs: between democracy, freedom and marketing? Three key narratives in professional identity of leisure time pedagogues working in youth clubsIn this article, we present the results of a research project about the professional identity of leisure time pedagogue working in different forms of youth clubs with children and teenagers from 10 to 18+ years of age. We base the analysis on 11 qualitative semi-structured interviews. Through the analysis, we construct three key narratives: a key narrative concerning democracy, a key narrative concerning freedom and a key narrative concerning marketing (sale). We use these three key narratives to illustrate the complexity of the professional identity of the leisure time pedagogue. Both tradition and renewal characterizes the professional identity of the leisure time pedagogues. In the final section, we discuss the encounter between the key narratives of democracy and freedom on the one hand and the key narrative of marketing on the other. What are the possible pitfalls and potentials in this encounter, when the pedagogues strives for the acknowledgement and acceptance of professional identity?

In this paper, we argue that the normative concept of modernity as self-referentiality, self-subsistence, autonomy, endogeny and independence of reason is based on the correlation of anthropology and science in a double, however correlated, point: on the one hand, it is rooted on the idea of the natural world as a purely technical, physical, chemical and biological triad of structure, dynamics and object, which obeys to quantitative and definite-invariable material laws; on the other, it is grounded on the idea of human mind or human nature as a normative subject that is able to interpret in an objective way this purely technical nature and, more importantly, to construct the epistemological-moral-ontological objectivity from the modern self’s capability of creating its own axiology and rationalizing the epistemological-moral foundation and the anthropological-ontological place-belonging in the world and in society. As a consequence, the normative concept of modernity, associated to a technical view of nature and to a political-profane-historical notion of society-culture-consciousness, of socialization-subjectivation, enables the idea that modernity is a very singular anthropological-societal-cultural-cognitive process of evolution in human history, as its paradigmatic basis (reason between natural science and secular culture) represents directly universalism in itself, so as to construct a barrier and an opposition between modernity and the other of modernity, as well as to institute the process of modernity-modernization and its comprehension as a self-referential, self-subsisting, autonomous, closed and endogenous process, and as a principle of movement, dynamics and explanation. Here, modernity can be explained only by its internal processes, subjects, principles, values and multiple dynamics, as it signifies a self-constructive movement in itself and by itself, as an overcoming of traditionalism as a minority and a consolidation of modernity-modernization as a majority due to the intersection of reason, science and culture.

In the Iphigeneia at Aulis role and role inversion are paramount concerns. Indeed it could be contended that in this play we find Euripides' clearest and best defined account of human (and divine) variability. Agamemnon, Menelaos, Achilleus, Iphigeneia, and even, in the final analysis, Artemis, all take positions and attitudes diametrically opposed to those initially adopted. Moreover, the basic thrust behind these movements in position and attitude is the same for each of these characters. All are concerned, in one way or another, with the saving or destruction of Iphigeneia, a situation which most emphatically includes Iphigeneia herself. For on the one hand she wildly supplicates to be saved, while on the other she gladly offers her body to the blade. In addition, Iphigeneia plays a crucial role in greater destructions. If she is destroyed by Agamemnon's and the army's actions, then Greece is destroyed in turn by her (Agamemnon's and the Greeks' final triumph is a ‘Pyrrhic’ victory at best), a situation made all the more ironic by her affected stance of saviour to the fatherland. In Iphigeneia's case, however, the discrepancy between intention and the consequences of action is innocent enough. The play gives no hint that she is at all aware of the irony implicit in her actions. But such lack of awareness is not postulated with regard to Agamemnon, Menelaos and Achilleus. The duplicities and hypocrisies of these three have been the subject of much analysis, and it is at least a critical commonplace to observe that they are characterised in a way more reminiscent of the sour end of everyday life than of the due proprieties associated with heroic, or Homeric, behaviour.

This article aims to explore the affinities between contemporary Paganism and the posthuman project in how they approach the non-human natural world. On the one hand, posthumanism explores new ways of considering the notion of humans and how they are linked with the non-human world. On the other hand, Neopaganism expands this reflection to the spiritual domain through its animistic relational sensibility. Both perspectives challenge the modern paradigm where nature and humans are opposed and mutually disconnected. They instead propose a relational ontology that welcomes the “different other.” This integrated relationship between humans and the “other than human” can be understood through the semiotic Chora, a notion belonging to Julia Kristeva that addresses how the subject is not symbolically separated from the world in which it is contained.

The provision of adequate, reliable, and affordable energy, in conformity with social and environmental requirements is a vital part of sustainable development. Currently, countries are facing a two-fold energy challenge: on the one hand they should assure the provision of environmentally sustainable energy, while, on the other, energy services should be reliable, affordable, and socially acceptable. To evaluate such aspects of energy services one needs energy sustainability barometers, which provide the means to monitor the impacts of energy policies and assist policymakers in relevant decision making. Although sustainability is an ambiguous, complex, and polymorphous concept, all energy sustainability barometers incorporate the three major sustainability dimensions: social, economic, and environmental. In this chapter, we review three models for assessing the sustainability of energy development of countries: ESI, SAFE, and EAPI. We also present a brief discussion of the results, the applied methodologies, and the underlying assumptions of these sustainability barometers.

The process of tourism development has come to include, step by step, the expansion potential of areas where it could be practiced in less accessible natural spaces, which are more problematic from the point of view of tourist penetration and the organization of tourism activities. In this context, making tourism under the umbrella of this concept of expansion, has led, on the one hand, to the expansion of protected natural areas, to their advertising and implicitly to the increase of demand for this type of tourism, and, on the other hand, to the amplification of danger posed to the integrity of the ecosystems included in the tourism circuit. The paper, starting from the actual context of sustainable development, highlights the fact that the tourism potential of protected natural areas constitute an important factor for sustainable development only, if is doing in condition of responsibility and respect for environmental conservation and regeneration of environmental resources
