At the present stage, the development of the oil and gas industry in the Russian Federation is impossible without replenishing the raw material base, so the urgent task is to conduct investigations, prospecting and evaluation of oil and gas bearing capacity prospects in undiscovered areas. The purpose of the investigations is to analyze facies and thicknesses, choose the methodology of prospecting and exploration in reservoirs, make a comprehensive assessment of oil and gas bearing capacity prospects based on experimental investigations and construct a map of oil and gas bearing capacity prospects of the studied sediment structure. The methodology of the conducted investigations was to identify and trace zones of increased fracturing by qualitative interpretation of time seismic sections. Methods for qualitative interpretation of time seismic sections, the model of physical, chemical and geochemical criteria developed by I.A.Burlakov, gas and geochemical surveying and correlation analysis were used in the investigations. A number of prospecting criteria, established based on the analysis of reference seismic materials on well-studied areas in comparison with the results of well tests, were also used. Structural plan for forecast prospects of oil and gas bearing capacity in the studied area was made; zonal and local objects with prospects for oil and gas were identified. Graphical plotting of Eh and pH concentrations distribution and various gas and geochemical indicators allowed identifying zones of possible oil and gas accumulations and starting their detailed survey. Processing of gas and geochemical materials by means of software allowed efficient assessment of prospects for oil and gas bearing capacity of the investigated objects.

In the recent years, due to the introduction of new Technical Regulations in the Oil and Gas Industry in 2008, high technical and environmental performance values were set to be met by production volume and by the quality of hydrocarbons and a variety of oil products coming from the fields to factory processing and trade parks. The presence of a powerful raw material base, the shortage of petroleum products and the development of market relations create objective conditions for increased use of a variety of natural hydrocarbons, for improved technological schemes of oil preparation and oil processing on the oil fields and for modernizing the equipment used. On small and remote oil fields, which for economic reasons cannot be linked by transport pipelines, a complex system of preparation of liquid hydrocarbons is used with the ultimate goal of obtaining some refined products such as gasoline, diesel fuel and furnace oil.

Currently, under the conditions of increasing depletion of hydrocarbon reserves in Russia, it is necessary to consider the resource potential of poorly-researched oil and gas objects as a factor for ensuring the sustainable development of the oil and gas complex, in the context of the concept formation of rational subsoil utilization and a circular economy. The methodology of this study is based on a clear sequence of geological and economic studies of poorly-researched oil and gas objects, including four stages, such as analysis of the raw material base, assessment of the raw material potential, determination of technological development parameters, and economic evaluation. The methods of the probabilistic estimation of oil resources of the forecasted objects with regard to geological risk are outlined. Software packages “EVA—Risk Analysis” and “EVA—Economic Evaluation of Oil and Gas Field Development Projects” were used for estimation. The result of the study is the determination of the geological and economic efficiency of the development of nine hydrocarbon objects with the determination of the order of their further geological exploration, and introduction into industrial development on the example of the poorly-researched region of the Timan-Pechora oil and gas province located in the Arctic zone.

The article considers a comprehensive analysis of the oil and gas complex of the regions of Eastern Siberia and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The features of the structure of the raw material base were revealed – a low degree of exploration and the rate of reproduction of stocks, imbalance in categories of stocks. The state of oil production in the region with differentiation by field is presented, the current state and prospects of expansion of the ESPO pipeline are analyzed.

Energy independence is an important component of sustainable development and security of the state. Ukraine has a great hydrocarbon potential of the subsoil, which is why the priority objective is a search and exploration of new deposits of hydrocarbon raw materials. One of the important directions for increase of potential resources and reserves of oil and gas is the development of large deep (over 4500–5000 m) deposits, as hydrocarbon reserves at small and medium depths are quite depleted in many regions. For a long time, hydrocarbon reservoirs in basement rocks were underestimated during geological exploration works. Obtained results indicate that new concepts of the formation of hydrocarbon deposits can dramatically change the system of oil production, methods of prospecting and development of deposits. It is important to assess possible oil-and-gas-bearing capacity of sediments and rocks of the basement by identifying prospective areas of hydrocarbon deposits, including in the rocks of the crystalline basement. In Ukraine, main prospects of discovery of oil and gas deposits at great depths are associated nowadays with the Dnieper-Donets Rift (DDR). Deposits with accumulations of hydrocarbons at depths of more than 5000 m are concentrated in the main oil-and-gas-bearing areas of the Rift that coincide with the central paraxial and marginal zones of the graben. It was in the central segment of the DDR that the main regularities of oil-and-gas-bearing capacity of deep-lying geological formations were first discovered: secondary nature of reservoirs, discovery of the phenomenon of supercollectors and associated huge debits. It is relevant and promising to study the process of recovery/replenishment of gas reserves by the example of deposits that are at the final stage of development.

The article is devoted to the qualitative assessment of the state of the oil and gas industry in the Russian Federation based on the context of administrative-territorial units. It was realized that the data provided by different sources differs due to the variation in the calculation methods used, and the lack of detailed regional reports from foreign agencies shows the novelty of the research. In the current research the projection of administrative borders on the territory of oil and gas-geological zoning is used. To determine the degree of the dependence of regional economies from the oil and gas industry, current data about the state of the mineral resource base in the subjects of the Russian Federation were compared with the geography of the location of processing enterprises. On the basis of the obtained materials, the classification of oil and gas-bearing territories is carried out.
