The authors take the view that science is responsible today for building society according to the idea of human community, and university mission – apart from striving for the truth – should consist in serving social needs by developing human capital. In the article, they emphasize the importance of cultivating academic ethos for the existence of science and the academic community, and express concern, as the destruction of this ethos, weakening of thinking with reference to values, and recognition of the superiority of instrumental values (interests) over autotelic (cognitive and moral) values are observed. The authors note that in many European countries, education comes down to equipping university graduates with qualifications that enable rapid adaptation to changes in the labor market, that is to acknowledging that the intensification of economic growth is the primary social task. In the university education sphere, humanistic reflection, which is a distinguishing feature of European culture, which subordinates technology and economy to the goals delineated by wisdom, is poorly expressed or even absent. This places even more responsibility on universities for educating teachers – educators of future generations. These universities, including The Maria Grzegorzewska University, that train students to work with people with special needs have a special duty toward society, as modern university graduates should not only be top-class specialists but, above all, people who are sensitive to others’ needs, tolerant, reflective, creative, open, and active in support, and for the welfare, of environment in a broad sense.

The article presents the results of a study on the employment of graduates of the first in the Russian Federation department of personnel management at the State University of Management (Moscow). A survey of former students showed that most of the respondents work in their specialty in organizations of various forms of ownership and areas of the economy. The positions of graduates and the job responsibilities performed by them reflect the whole range of professional activities of HR specialists, starting from the general management of personnel of specific organizations and ending with narrowly targeted posts. At the same time, respondents, as professionals, were identified the “weaknesses” of their training at the university, which were mostly related to the limited practical orientation of training, namely, the formation of competencies in the use of relevant personnel management tools. The questionnaire also revealed the variability of the professional interests of graduates, reflecting modern HR trends. The practical focus of the study lies in the possibility of studying the real state of personnel management practice through the professional experience of graduates; as a resource for scientific, educational, methodological and educational purposes for improving the educational process of the department; for the organization of career guidance work among students studying at the department and the formation of their professional culture; to develop a community of teachers, graduates and students of the department through the development of trusting mutually beneficial relationships.

Research background: Despite a fairly long tradition of measuring students’ assessment of the quality of obtained university education, there are still many unresolved issues in this area. The aim of the study: to theoretically substantiate the concept of a profile of graduates’ satisfaction with university educational programs including several parameters. The satisfaction profile serves as a criterion of the quality of education, at the same time reflecting students’ subjective assessment of the learning outcomes received at the university that they correlate with their expectations at the stage of admission. The concept is proposed in association with the monitoring of university graduates’ satisfaction with educational programs developed and tested as part of the research work at the Russian State Social University. Methods: graduate satisfaction is assessed using quantitative (questionnaires, the results of which are processed in SPSS) and qualitative (interviews) research methods. The proposed and tested method for the assessment of university graduates’ satisfaction with educational programs can serve as a basis for the development of university systems for monitoring graduates’ satisfaction with educational programs and education quality management and the satisfaction profile can become a universal criterion of education quality assessment not only in Russian but also in foreign universities. Results and novelty: The novelty and significance of the study results lie in the fact that the rating of educational process factors significant for graduates’ satisfaction provides information that can be used for successfully placing the direction of training in the market of educational services. Moreover, two ratings of the importance of the identified factors are constructed. The first one reflects the respondents’ direct assessment that can be used in advertising and information campaigns in the market of educational services. The second rating shows indirect assessment providing a more adequate image of the real impact of various factors on graduates’ satisfaction with educational programs; the results of this rating can be used in the intra-university quality management.

Training of highly qualified specialists is a significant factor for the consistent progress in any branch of economics. Kemerovo State University provides training of specialists for the coal mining region in Russia. Nowadays, the University tends to increase the proportion of foreign students as well. Most of these are students from neighboring countries, such as Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, where raw materials industries, including mining, are developed. Taking into account the multi-ethnic diversity of students at Kemerovo State University, we analyzed the experience and determined the worthwhile forms of organizing independent activity in EFL teaching. Among the forms of independent activity, we introduced independent reading, preparing thematic presentations, written tasks based on video content, and writing thematic essays. Organizing independent work in the educational process, which involves a large number of multinational groups of students, we took into account the following conditions. We considered such particular qualities of contemporary students as their general need in flexible learning environment as well as in self-expression; we took into account their interest in new knowledge and motivation for self- improvement, and at the same time, lack of desire for completing reproductive types of tasks, along with fragmented thinking.
