The present work describes the issues of evaluation of corporate management effictiveness in organizations. The research presents scientific and practical significance in solving the problem of instruments and methods selection for proper assessment of the corporate management effectiveness. Therefore, the necessity of its critical study and systematization is a topical task not only for the research community, but for practical workers – owners of companies and managers. The paper shows a review of the most spread methodical approaches to the assessment of corporate management effectiveness. These were analyzed in terms of managerial, economic, quantitative and qualitative methods. The advantages and disadvantages of every investigated group of methods are described, the decisive factors that could be used for choosing one approach or another to assessment of the corporative management effectiveness were determined. Along with this, it was revealed that in some cases the application of only one method is not enough due to the variety of tasks set by the companies. Following this point of view, the paper investigates the opportunities of combination of qualitative and quantitative methods of assessment of corporate management effectiveness by investigation and interpretation of the combined methods of assessment developed by other authors. The results of investigation allowed obtaining some private conclusions that provide recommendations on developing the models of assessment of corporate management effectiveness, particularly by the combined application of different methods and criteria of assessment. The practical relevance of the investigation results is in the opportunity of its application by companies while developing the Plans and Strategies of corporate development. The results of the conducted analysis of approaches to the assessment of the corporate management effectiveness will allow the managers to have systematized and scientifically justified information on investigation of factors and indicators influencing on the effectiveness of corporate management that will allow taking timely measures on risk management that can decrease the effective functioning of a company in whole.

In visitor studies, there has been some debate about the use of qualitative versus quantitative research methods. Many evaluators understand the advantages and disadvantages of both methods, but deciding on the most appropriate method can still be problematic. This article summarizes the tenets of both qualitative and quantitative methods and provides examples of visitor studies for each. It also reviews several research studies that have successfully used mixed methods to evaluate visitors.

The feeling of empathy is as old as the humankind. Empathy is an attempt to perceive the emotions and to understand the thoughts of other individuals and discern their point of view. Due to such aspects, empathy presents “a focus on other individuals”. In general terms, empathy was defined as “adopting a sensitive attitude towards correctly understanding the emotions and thoughts of another individual, encountering any event, through placing oneself in the place of that individual during the process of communication.”The present study was intended to determine the effects of the communication and immigration subjects in the 7th grade social studies course on the empathy skills of students through employing the didactic approach, which is one of the techniques for empathy development.Concurrent nested (embedded) design, a mixed research method, was employed in the present study. Mixed-method research is defined as the approach through which the researcher draws conclusions by using the advantage of integrating qualitative and quantitative methods, approaches and concepts in a study or consecutive studies with the aim to understand diverse research models. The quantitative data in the present study were obtained via the “Index of Empathy for Children and Adolescents”, whereas the qualitative data were collected through interview forms.Almost all students emphasized the significance of empathy and understanding the feelings of the migrants for understanding the causes and consequences of immigration throughout the activities related to immigration.

Teacher attrition has become a challenge in many educational systems worldwide. Many studies have focused onteachers' perspectives, while attempting to identify the factors that motivated teachers' decision to leave theprofession. The present study aimed to explore teacher attrition from the point of view of school leaders - principalsand inspectors. Using qualitative and quantitative methods, the results indicate that school and district leadersperceived teacher attrition via two-dimensional structure, including explicit and implicit dimensions. The explicitdimension refers to the act of leaving. The participants indicated that the main reasons that motivate teachers'decision to leave the profession are related to the stressful working environment and poor job conditions. Theimplicit dimension presents a hidden attrition. Based on cost-benefit theory the study highlights the complexstructure of teacher attrition.

Purpose: Home visiting (HV) work represents an expanding, extremely promising, and commonly practiced approach that can be seen in various areas of social work as well as health care. This report presents the results of the research study “‘home treatment’ (HT)—transdisciplinary research in HV work.” Method: It is the first German study that has used qualitative and quantitative methods to collect data from different professions in respect to this topic. From the point of view of the professionals, the study underlines that HV work principally seems to be a good base for establishing a professional and confidential relationship. They attribute more sustainability and participation from the clients to home-based interventions than other forms of help. After a short introduction about the current situation of HV work, the research project will be explained and the qualitative and quantitative methods described. Results: The results of the “HT Questionnaire” will be presented in 10 sections and the qualitative results in a model for reflection based on three points of view and five main topics. Discussion: Finally, some ethical and safety aspects will be discussed.

With the development of Taiwan’s economy and increasing revenues of the people, people are increasingly interested in tourism and leisure lifestyles. Local governments in Taiwan develop their own unique shopping areas based on the considerations of their own characteristics. Woodcarving works display commercial, artistic, practical, aesthetical, and other features. From the heyday of export and domestic sales, the global downturn, and the establishment of the woodcarving museum, the industry experienced changes like the business cycle. During this period of thriving export, every household in Sanyi was creating wood carving products day and night. Due to the flourishing export of the wood carving industry of Sanyi, outside wood carvers came to Sanyi and introduced new artistic styles, resulting in different creative concepts of wood carving works. The majority of residents in Sanyi are Hakka, and over 50% of the people are engaging in the woodcarving industry. Presently, due to time, space, external, and internal factors, the woodcarving industry of Sanyi has gradually passed the heyday of export. Through qualitative and quantitative methods, this study analyzed the status and process of the development of the Sanyi woodcarving cultural and creative industry, as well as the change of marketing models. We explored whether emotional marketing methods can arouse the perception of consumption situations, and individual intrinsic emotions and feelings, while promoting proactive participation and purchase of woodcarving products to enrich the life of consumers. Moreover, this study discussed the depth and width of the impact on existing consumers and potential community members. By analyzing the woodcarving industry in Sanyi, Miaoli, as based on a conversion from the past, as well as current development and future vision, this study proposed marketing strategy suggestions as reference for the woodcarving industry.

On October 22, 2021, MGIMO University hosted the international scientific conference Risks to the Human Capital of the Scientific Community in the Context of the COVID-19 Pandemic, organized by the Department of Sociology. The agenda of the conference included a wide variety of topics and issues related to self-identification of the scientific community in times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Its relevance and importance of the topic attracted participants from Russia, the Czech Republic, Italy, Belarus, Vietnam, Lebanon, Armenia, Brazil, Austria, China, Finland and Israel making it diverse and international. During the plenary session possibilities and boundaries of the use of the terms capital and risks in the sociological discourse were considered. The participants discussed global dilemmas of the civilization of the future, philosophical education in conditions of social turbulence, psychological factors in inflating risks and social instability as well as the demand for longterm humanistic trends to minimize risks for human academic capital in times of the pandemic. There were three sessions. The first one concentrated on the issue of human academic capital transformation in times of the pandemic. Its focus was on the effects of COVID on the sociological research agenda, new risks for social sciences (such as pseudoscientific arguments) and many others. The second session as devoted to digitalization with its influence, paradoxes, challenges, and risks. The speakers made it clear that digitalization today is not only a new research area, but a factor of producing social knowledge. This idea was illustrated by the analyses of advantages and disadvantages of scientometrics. The third session discussed the risks associated with digitalization of education and overall implications of the pandemic for the learning process. Both explicit and implicit, these implications of distant learning need to be considered. The participants spoke about digital competences and digital capital of university lecturers and professors, students’ academic mobility, etc. The sociological academic community welcome new perspectives and ideas, thus graduate students and masters were invited to participate in the conference together with experts. The conference bridged two main sociological trends: structural knowledge and comprehension. The former studies social institutions and structures and their functioning, while the latter investigates social actions and interactions, coupled with the meanings and intentions behind them. The current situation made it necessary to combine both approaches so that qualitative and quantitative methods would help study social structures, nuanced contexts, and values alike.

ABSTRACTThis paper surveys and illustrates ten years of research done on sociophonological variation in Viennese German from a methodological point of view. It shows how variants of the same word form are collected and analyzed and how two types of rules are differentiated: (1) phonostylistic (optional) phonological rules of the fast/casual and formal hyperarticulate speech, both of Standard Austrian German and Viennese German Dialect; and (2) bidirectional input switch rules between these two strata. Psycholinguistic lab experiments are summarized, which vouch for the psychological reality of sociolinguistic concepts used. A theory of sociopsychological speech situations is described as well as the application of quantitative and qualitative sociolinguistic methods used. A major illustration of our approach is taken from the sociolinguistic study of defendants at court. The conclusion summarizes major claims. (Courtroom discourse, hermeneutics, phonological theory, phonological variation, psycholinguistic experiments, qualitative and quantitative methods, sociophonology, speech situations, style repertoires, switching, text linguistics, therapeutic discourse; Standard Austrian German, Viennese German.)

The purpose of this study was to examine airline pilots’ own formulation of desirable non-technical skills. Qualitative and quantitative methods were used to identify the pilot community's own perception of desirable personal attitudes. Group interviews formed the basis for developing statements. A sample consisting of 174 pilots were questioned on their perception of desirable attitudes. The major finding indicated clusters of attitudes pilots perceived as desirable. The attitudes pilots called attention to were intimately linked to the concept of airmanship. Factor analysis revealed at least four factors in pilots’ conception of desired personal attitudes of an airman: “knowledge”, ‘flying skills’, ‘CRM’, and ‘self-awareness’.

Media representation of female gender roles in advertising are relentlessly contested themes in a traditional society. Stereotypical representation not only limits the socially accepted traditional roles of gender, but also has an impact on how people perceive women. This study has focused on how women characters are constructed in order to understand reflection of stereotypical gender norms in Bangladeshi television commercials. Stuart Hall’s representation theory has adapted as the framework for conceptualizing the context of this study and scrutinizing the data. Using qualitative and quantitative methods, this paper has explored how such representations constitute unequal gender identities, traditional norms and perpetuate subtle forms of colorism towards women. This study found that dominant patriarchal ideology is deeply embedded in television commercials of Bangladesh; there is a discrimination towards the construction of women's image. Moreover, such media representations generate the ideology of beauty in a negative way and push the concept of colorism towards women.
