According to the characteristics of physical geography and hydrogeology in Pingtan Island area, an independent regional groundwater evaluation system is established according to the four-layer model structure of target layer, criterion layer, attribute layer and index layer in the system. AHP (Analytic hierarchy process) is used to determine the weight value of each index in the study area, and a set of groundwater function evaluation system suitable for the island area is established. A groundwater function evaluation model with high systematic order degree is constructed and applied to the groundwater function evaluation of Pingtan Island. The results show that the groundwater in Luyangpu plain, Longwangtoupu plain, Lianjiupu plain and Qilipu plain can be developed and utilized well; The function of groundwater in the south of Aozhen and the foot of Junshan mountain is general, so we need to pay attention to the protection of ecological environment; The comprehensive function of groundwater in reclamation area, Huoshaogang salt area and Tianzhuyukou seawater intrusion area is weak, which is not suitable for exploitation and utilization. The research results are suitable for the evaluation of groundwater function in independent small areas of islands, and can provide technical support for the sustainable utilization of groundwater resources in similar islands.

Based on the comprehensive analysis about the hydrogeological condition, ecological environment, and the characteristics of geological environment, energy is devoted to constructing a function evaluation indicator system of shallow groundwater with Jinjiang regional characteristic in the light of the assessment indicator system proposed in technical requirement for function evaluation and zoning of shallow groundwater issued by ministry of Land and resources. By dint of expert’s knowledge and experience, efforts are spent in assigning different weight values to the indicators, classifying function evaluation grading standards, and putting forward a secondary function zoning rating system. Besides, focus is put on building a comprehensive function evaluation model of shallow groundwater by means of analytic hierarchy process based on the constructed assessment indicator system of shallow groundwater. In order to guarantee assessment accuracy, the studied region is split into regular discrete grid for the purpose of calculating the comprehensive assessment index of grid unit. Meanwhile, based on GIS’ spatial analysis function, a research is conducted on the overall function zoning map of the shallow groundwater in the studied region to accurately reveal its spatial distribution and exploitation and provide scientific basis for groundwater management.

A groundwater function evaluation systems and associated model was applied to Pingtan Island in China, to support future development, use and protection of groundwater. Groundwater function was assigned to resource, ecology and geological environmental functions, and then further sub-divided, based on hydrogeological conditions, development status, planning and Chine policy requirements. At the same time, it is the first time to try to apply the technical requirements for the division of groundwater resources in island areas. According to the planning and utilization of groundwater resources in Pingtan Island, established a second-level system of shallow groundwater function zoning. Then, by comparing the strong and weak relationships among the groundwater resource function, ecology function, and geological environment function, developed a scoring system of the shallow groundwater function zoning. The division of shallow groundwater function zones in Pingtan Island was finally carried out. The zoning result will play an essential role in the future development, utilization, and protection of groundwater in Pingtan Island. At the same time, it provides the first example for the application of groundwater function zoning in island areas and improves the theoretical results of groundwater function zoning.

Abstract Industrial heritage is unique in terms of its patterns, reuse characteristics, economic relevance and social operations. Under the government’s “Industrial Heritage Regeneration Project”, a menu of outcome/performance assessments have been in practice and have evolved. This paper combines expert methods, the Analytic Hierarchy Process, and the Multi-criteria Evaluation Method, along with qualitative and quantitative data, to clarify the hierarchical structure and weight of factors that influence outcome/performances. The research purpose is to establish an integrated multi-criteria performance evaluation model for the reuse of industrial heritage. The findings identify a long list of factors by crossing the four major factors concerning the reuse of industrial heritage, namely regeneration creativity, operational management, implementation effectiveness and sustainable developments. Regeneration creativity is considered as the most important element, and the presentation of thematic plans and characteristics is the most important influencing factor. It is suggested that clarifications should be made concerning the factors that affect different facets in the execution of reuse initiatives. The research findings can serve as a reference for decision-making in reuse and development by reflecting the culture and value for the reuse and implementations of industrial heritage.

Hanok is a building style in Korean traditional architecture that presently supports a specialty of urban scenery and residential environment for regeneration in Korea. However, it is difficult to review or evaluate for the performance of Hanok, and there is no definite standard that can be applied to it yet. Therefore, it is necessary to establish the evaluation system of the residential performance of Hanok, and its concept model of the habitability performance needs to be derived in order to develop an evaluation system for the residential performance of Hanok. For this study, its evaluation factors have been classified into three major aspects such as the architectural space, the village complex, and the sustainability. This study, then, has attempted to build an evaluation system composed of proven assessment items or factors and performed AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) analyses with certified experts in the Hanok field and applied the relative importance among the evaluation items. Finally, this research has proposed an evaluation model of the habitability performance of Hanok. As a result of applying the assessment model for weighted habitability performances, the proposed evaluation system has been implemented as the inherent value of Hanok and its objectivity to be a major sustainable form of regeneration for contemporary residency in Korea.

The color comfort degree is the fundamental principle of the color design in industrial environment. Based on the fuzzy synthetic evaluation model in fuzzy mathematics, the new model uses analytic hierarchy process to constitute a factor set which will affect the assessing of the colour comfort degree, and analyses the existing research data and applies the grey system theory when the data of some factors are insufficient, to quantify the weight and set up the change curve of the factors. By fuzzy evaluating the comfort degree of each factor with the data on the curve, the new model reduces the subjective judgments in the evaluation model and updates to a more objective and accurate evaluation system-the double-layer fuzzy synthetic evaluation model.
