This study empirically explores the link between power and information in organizations, and while doing so it also suggests a method to measure the relative power of an organizational unit in an organization due to the information it possesses. The study is based on the Strategic Contingencies Theory according to which the better a unit copes with uncertainty, the more central it is to the organization and the harder it is to replace its employees, consequently, the unit is more powerful relative to other units in the organization. In this study, information is regarded as an explanatory (independent) variable, additional to the traditional variables of the strategic contingencies theory. Two types of power were measured – perceived power and participation power; and two types of information were investigated – conveyed information and produced information. In general, it was found out that information indeed affects the organizational power of units within the organization. The influence is both direct and indirect, through a control variable – the type (i.e., the function) of the unit. Counter intuitively, the size of the unit or sub-unit (except for one case), the industrial sector and the number of employees in the entire organization were not found to affect the power of a sub-unit. It is known that some top executives in organizations tend to minimize the importance and value of the information systems when they do not produce immediate financial benefits. The result of this study, defining information as a factor influencing the power of the organizational sub-unit, is likely to confirm the important role of the information systems in the organization and to provide an additional explanation to the productivity paradox in the sense that information is not only a vehicle to provide economic value but rather an instrument to increase or sustain power.

Trade credit has been a growing source of finance of industrial sector in Pakistan. In this study, the main aim is to analyze the role of trade credit in upgradation of cement sector. To achieve this object, data was taken from the annual financial reports of 17 firms listed cement sector in Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX). The analyses have been carried out by using the data of 8 years, starting from year 2007 to 2014. Apparently not much work has been done to find out the success or failure of the business units selling cement on credit terms under market conditions prevailing in Pakistan. It was interesting to study the relation of trade credit and sales growth with respect to a developing nation like Pakistan. Panel data (fixed effect) model was used for the estimation of results decided on the basis of Hausman test. In addition to use of trade credit as independent variable, control variables (age, size and lagged sales growth) were also added in the model. Findings of the study show that trade credit has very significant positive affect on sales growth of the firms proclaiming the recommendation for the use of trade credit to enhance the revenues.

This study aims to improve halal industry through the role of sharia banking with financing channeled by the Islamic banks to finance customers. The method used in this research is qualitative and quantitative research. The qualitative data processing technique is sourced from the analysis of the interviews conducted by the syariah bank and the financing customer, while the quantitative analysis uses secondary time series data derived from publication reports from OJK and BPS from 2005 to 2017 with Eviews software tool. The variables of this research are halal sectors (Halal GDP) as dependent variable; total sharia bank financing; inflation, and export of halal industry as an independent variable. The results of this study proves that sharia banking can encourage the increase and development of halal industrial sector through financing customers in Islamic banks. The econometric results also prove that research variables such as the number of halal industrial sectors will increase with the increase in the business of customers who get halal certification. Despite the inflationary conditions, it does not slow the growth of halal industrial sector.

Present status and use for educational purposes, technology is fulfilling an ever increasing role in both the traditional education field, and in other fields which are utilizing technology for educational purposes. Within the educational field we can see technology as a means of removing barriers for students and teachers alike. First, technology can remove financial and geographical barriers through distributed learning. This allows students and teachers to experience educational opportunities that they might have otherwise never been able to encounter. Second, technology is bringing about a new focus on problem and skill based learning. Information databases are being used to assist teachers in the acquisition of new knowledge and provide professional support outside of the traditional professional development seminar. In regards to future action, we should continue to utilize the successful trends in education as a means to fulfil their developmental potential and see increased impacts on our field. In particular, we should continue the use of distance learning as a means of professional development for teachers, by providing more opportunities aimed at improving their job related performance. Distance learning for students should also be an area of focus by providing software that allows for increasing authenticity in simulations, multimedia content, and social connections. We should continue to focus on technology that allows students to interact with other students and environments located outside of their current environment, locality, and culture. Information systems are also in need of continual investment. Information systems perform two important roles for the educational system: Focus on this paper, technology has already served an important role in education in multiple fields. Specifically, technology has been of great use to the educational field in terms of its focus on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the educational experiences of both students and teachers. Continued use and development of technology can serve to further benefit the educational field and recommendations based on the development of existing trends in education should be pursued for great gains in educational achievement..

It is used secondary data from Indonesian Capital Market Directory (ICMD) and OSIRIS include all industry manufacture, exclude insurance and finace service sector. It's appropriate sampling criteria's and listing in Indonesian Stock Exchange. Then, using pooled data with observation period 2004th round to 2010th. Variables used in this study is the first Asset Utility as agency cost as dependent variabel. The second variabels is dividen, leverage, institutional ownership as mechanism variables to agency conflict as independent variable. Then, the control variable used firm size. The method of analysis used in this study is multiple regression of pooled data analysis. The results of this study is a positive effect dividend to company's performace of the first. Then, the second is a positive impact leverage to company's performace. The last is a positive impact institutional ownership to company's performace. With the result that, mechanism varibles of agency conflict has been play function of binding and oversight of agency conflict.

Cognitive science is a science of intelligent systems. This chapter proposes that cognitive science can provide useful perspectives for research on technology-mediated human-information interaction (HII) when HII is cast as emergent behaviour of a coupled intelligent system. It starts with a review of a few foundational concepts related to cognitive computations and how they can be applied to understand the nature of HII. It discusses several important properties of a coupled cognitive system and their implication to designs of information systems. Finally, it covers how levels of abstraction have been useful for cognitive science, and how these levels can inform design of intelligent information systems that are more compatible with human cognitive computations.
