This paper aims to examine the problems of learning paradigm changes caused by technological developments in education in the digital era and provide solutions for teachers to improve the quality of learning. This study uses qualitative research methods with a literature review approach. Research by exploring the latest and most trusted reference sources is then explored in full and in depth. The results of this study note that technological developments in education led to a shift in the pattern of learning approaches that used to teacher-centered to be student-centered. Learning problems that arise as a result of technological developments in the digital era include; students in the digital age can access science through online with a laptop or smartphone, so that the source of knowledge obtained is less accountable, students are less interested in the design of learning messages taught without innovative media, teachers as facilitators are still lacking in using information technology-based media and communication in improving the quality of learning. This is a challenge for the teacher as a communicator in learning communication. The solution to these problems is that the teacher must active role in validating the source of information obtained by the student's knowledge, so that its validity can be accounted. Teachers need to design learning messages effectively so that students as communicants can receive learning messages well. Teachers need to have the right strategy in utilizing information and communication technology-based learning media in order to improve the quality of learning.

It is argued that the digital technology has made possible the vast range of applications and media forms including virtual reality, digital special effects, digital film, digital television, electronic music, computer games, multimedia, the Internet, the World Wide Web, digital telephony and so on [8]. Digital transformation has been particularly influential in new directions of society.Providing schools with digital technology promises a high return on investment. The presence of computers and Internet access raises technology literacy and skills, better preparing the future generations to participate in the information society [12]. To this end, schools represent ideal access points because they cover a large part of the population, especially in developing countries. Starting from 1990s, many educators have been realised the potential of Internet for educational purposes and began to introduce it into classrooms. According to [10] the popularity of web-based teaching and learning lies in the strengths of its distributed nature and the case of its browsing facility. Both the use of digital technology and increased interest in student-centered learning may lead to a significant change of the teacher’s role, as well as the recognition of the active role of the learner in the learning process.

In the traditional instructional paradigm, faculty members act like actors on a stage. They memorize their speech and deliver it to the audience, many times with very little to no interaction at all with the audience. On the other hand, in the student-centered learning paradigm, faculty members act like coaches interacting full time with their team. This chapter is based on a study conducted at a Brazilian Federal University. The study depicts the distance between science production and teaching, and reports on experiences using smart phone clickers to track and analyze students' content acquisition. The objective is to improve the interactive quality of teaching and learning, thus promoting steps to shift towards a student-centered instructional paradigm. Although smartphones were used in this study, with wearable technologies continuing to grow, other wearables such as smart glasses and smart watches could be used instead.

Teachers at a technology diverse school explored ways to shift toward a more student- centered pedagogical practice. The project determined whether a shift in teacher practices could impact student engagement and success. The results were positive: many students had more academic success when student-centered learning activities were incorporated into their schooling. In theory, this means student learning that includes non-linear learning approaches can work in more generalizable settings than what have been expansively published in the current literature. In practice, the findings may help to inform schools dealing with current societal pressures to help their students find greater success through the use of pedagogically appropriate technology implementations and teacher support.

Educational technology is contributing towards diversity awareness as it allows you to create more personalized and student-centered learning situations. This chapter addresses specific learning difficulties (SpLD) and, specifically, dyslexia, since it is one of the most prevalent challenges in the educational field. Information and communication technologies allow direct intervention with students who have special educational needs as an alternative to traditional resources, which is much more motivating. In this sense, as an example, various projects and applications are presented that allow working on this type of difficulties with students. This chapter highlights the virtual reality and augmented reality software carried out in the context of the European Erasmus + FORDYSVAR project, of which the authors are part.

Recent years have witnessed a profound evolution of ports, induced by a wide range of factors, such as: (a) technological developments in shipping, cargo-handling and storage equipment, and information and communication systems; (b) changing patterns of international trade; (c) a broadening complexity of global supply chains; and (d) a changing governance models of the port as a consequence of the process of privatization in Europe. The growing size and complexity of port functions have inspired an ever more interesting and useful scientific debates on the social, economic and environmental effects of these transformations, and, more specifically, on the relationship between the port and the city. The paper addresses, to this end, an emerging managerial perspective in the decision making process of Port Authority: the network. This perspective allows to understand the nature of relationship networks shaping the competitive and cooperative dynamics of the port and to identify the boundaries for an active role of the Port Authority in defining the sustainable development of port within its own territory.

This paper presents a conceptual framework on the implementation of Resource Based Learning (RBL) in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) class. Resource based learning emerges as the proponent of constructivism as well as a response to the rapid development of information and communication technology (ICT) and its influence in education. Digital technologies pose potential opportunities in changing the face of education. The affordances of digital technologies empower more student-centered learning and more accessible educational information. Teaching English for foreign learners is dynamic and requires innovations. Admittedly, most English learners in Indonesia need more exposure to authentic English learning resources, and digital technologies are very potential in accommodating their needs. Resource based learning sets an innovative framework and systematic approach for English educators in designing digital technology-based instructions.
