Reading is a window to the world, but the level of interest in reading in Indonesia is very low. This is exactly what encourages the writer to create a literacy program in schools in accordance with the GLS program that is required to be done. Reading and writing can reduce student problems and can even solve problems that are being faced by students. Students who are diligent in reading and writing will certainly have high discipline. In accordance with the vision and mission and the motto of SMP Negeri 3 Barusjahe, students are expected to be able to realize "MEKAR-BERSERI" that is to be Independent, Educative, Creative, Active and Clean Disciplined, Healthy, Neat and Beautiful. To measure the successful implementation of this GLS Program researchers used descriptive qualitative methods. The results of this study indicate that literacy in the scope of schools is the ability of a student to develop what students get from reading and writing so that students become more creative, productive, competitive, characterized, and nationalist and foster good character for students. In addition, by reading and writing students can increase obedience and compliance with school rules and regulations

Arabic language is often taught by Arabic educational institutions only as a tool to read religious texts, not as the function of language is to communicate. The purpose of this research is to show a new strategy of mastering comprehensive communicative Arabic language based on 4 language skills (maharat lughawiyyah), namely listening, speaking, reading, and writing integrally and not separately. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods, data collection is carried out through observation and interviews. The results of this study indicate weak language skills due to partial mastery strategies in Arabic. The conclusion of this study shows that the ability to communicate Arabic must be built on 4 language skills simultaneously, related, intact, integrated and not fragmented.

In-Line inspection has increasingly been used across the oil and gas industry over the past 30 years as a key part of pipeline integrity programmes. Whilst the industry has started to develop standards through the ILI Association and the Pipeline Operators Forum the way in which the industry selects tools and contractors has not developed to the same extent. A significant amount of time is spent managing the procurement process rather than focusing on the selection of the right tools and ensuring they perform to expectations. The challenge is further exacerbated when operations are dispersed globally and involve many different operating relationships. BP has been a user of ILI technology since its introduction in the late 1970s and it has consistently grown in importance to BP in managing the integrity of an aging pipeline asset base. In 2006/2007 BP’s Exploration and Production Technology Group (EPTG) in conjunction with the Procurement and Supply Chain Management group (PSCM) carried out a review of its procurement arrangements across the globe for pipeline ILI to ascertain best practice and capture key lessons. It also gathered experience from other strategic long term supply chain initiatives around the BP Group to help inform and develop the ILI strategy. Early discussions held with ILI Suppliers confirmed that, whilst regional frameworks have been in place in some countries, extending this to a global operation would be breaking new ground in engaging ILI services and would be of benefit to both ends of the supply chain. The process not only needed to follow rigorous supply chain procedures that would meet EU Procurement Directives and BP Group requirements, it also had to meet the specific requirements of many Countries around the world. It was recognised that flexibility would be required to accommodate the introduction of new tools, developing technology and accommodate new areas of operation. BP also wanted to stimulate continuous improvement in ILI tool performance and application of innovative improved technology. More significantly a key objective of the Global Contract was to drive inspection quality and consistency, whilst maintaining a competitive but equitable pricing strategy. Successful implementation was not just about delivering a contract scope of work; it required the development of relationships and a common understanding so that when problems arise they can be resolved quickly and efficiently. This required a significant amount of work engaging both the ILI Contractors and Operating Units across the world in the process. Work on developing the Global ILI Contract was successfully concluded with contract awards in late 2007. The paper explores some of the challenges, lessons learnt and benefits of developing a Global Contract for ILI.

The findings of this research focused on the causes of the protagonist’s bravery in believing hadist of Rasulullah, in conquering Constantinople, and spreading Islam by Jihad. The Prophet’s promises were the reason for his bravery in conquering Constantinople, and for his own strength. The protagonist’s bravery was shown when he decided to drag 72 ships into Galata Hill, and when Mehmed conquered Constantinople by Jihad as the way to spread Islam throughout the world including Constantinople. The protagonist’s bravery also resulted in two effects: converting Hagia as a mosque and making Ottomans the center of Islamic civilization. It can be inferred that the protagonist had tremendous bravery. Keywords: bravery, civilization, conquest, strength

The study of metaphors in semantics is indeed worth discussing in the world of linguistics, languages that are not straightforward make many people rethink to understand a meaning. In general, the metaphor is an expression of language to say something that lives for something else that lives, that lives for something that dies, something that dies for life, and something else that dies. When talking about keroncong songs in Indonesia, almost all songs mean straightforward. However, if it refers to the songs of Nyidam Sari and Yen Ing Tawang Ono Lintang, the work of artist Andjar Any seems to need to be studied more deeply because in the lyrics delivered there are a lot of visible metaphors. Based on this background, the purpose of this research is to understand the meanings implied in the two songs. In this study researchers used descriptive qualitative methods because the object of this research is the song contained in the text. Then, based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that 13 metaphors in both songs have been found, namely 4 nominative metaphors, 4 complementative metaphors, 4 predictive metaphors, and 1 calimative metaphors. Thus it has been answered that the meaning of some song lyrics was previously poorly understood by the general public.

AbstractThis paper introduces newly published guidelines on geoheritage conservation in protected and conserved areas within the “IUCN WCPA Best Practice Guidelines” series. It explains the need for the guidelines and outlines the ethical basis of geoheritage values and geoconservation principles as the fundamental framework within which to advance geoheritage conservation. Best practice in establishing and managing protected and conserved areas for geoconservation is described with examples from around the world. Particular emphasis is given to the methodology and practice for dealing with the many threats to geoheritage, highlighting in particular how to improve practice for areas with caves and karst, glacial and periglacial, and volcanic features and processes, and for palaeontology and mineral sites. Guidance to improve education and communication to the public through modern and conventional means is also highlighted as a key stage in delivering effective geoconservation. A request is made to geoconservation experts to continue to share best practice examples of developing methodologies and best practice in management to guide non-experts in their work. Finally, a number of suggestions are made on how geoconservation can be further promoted.
