With many advantages, nowadays, the structure using tubular steel structure is more and more widely used in all kinds of construction. In response to the rapid development of the tubular steel structure, it has been had a lot of research about the joints of this structure. Welding joints and joints using flanges and bolts are used most popular in the tubular structure. However, most of the research concentrate about welding joints, the joints using flanges and bolts are only mentioned in the case of simple load-bearing such as tension or compression or bending without computational instructions in the case of complex bearing forces (concurrent shear force and bending or concurrent tension/compression and bending or tension/compression and twisting). The research using FEM analysis for joint of steel tubular with different sizes ( small size, medium-size, and large size) and parameters of the thickness of the flange, bolt’s diameter, the thickness of steel tube that rule of the relation between them. The study outlines the behavior for joints of tubular structure using flanges and bolts in the case of concurrent shear force and bending, thereby proposing the rational parameters of the joint (the relationship between the thickness of the flange, the diameter of the bolt and thickness of steel tubes). Base on the results of this research, the standard for choosing a suitable joint of steel tubular in different conditions. Besides that, the research’s results are also one of the important parts in conducting the standard of design joint of steel tubular.

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the vibration transmissibility from a cars body to pedal-pad, and the lower extremity, especially on the foot. The vibration transmissibility will occur when the foot interacts with the pedal-pad once the vehicle engine is turned on. The vibrations transmissibility will cause drivers discomfort, especially on the lower extremity due to fatigue and tiredness of the foot. The relationship between vibration transmissibility with the different sizes pedal-pad to the foot, and whether it can contribute to the foot discomfort during handling and controlling pedal-pad while driving is investigated. The variables are the different sizes of pedal-pad. Data was recorded from foot on three different sizes of pedal-pads. The data was measured in root mean square (r.m.s) unit, of the frequency weighted acceleration (m/s2) for every minute. The result for the foot-transmitted-vibration shows the ratio value of medium sized pedal-pad is greater than 1; compared to small sized and large sized pedal-pads which is less than 1. Analysis of One-way Anova shows that the mean of different sizes of pedal-pad is significant. Tukeyspost-hocwith HSD (Honestly Significant Difference) test on the foot transmitted-vibration proves that the means for medium size pedal-pad is the highest compared with the small and large size pedal-pads.

In the previous study, the relationship between leakage and the contact width size that prevent leakage for 25A size of new metal gasket has been examined. In this study, large size of new metal gasket which are 50A, 80A and 100 A sizes were evaluated by using same approach of leak measurement and the relationship between leakage and the contact width. A new approach of leak measurement was performed to clarify the relationship between the presence of leak produced by the water pressure test and the amount of helium leak rate using helium leak test. Moreover, comparing the evaluation results of the relationship between the clamping load and the contact width by using the finite element method (FEM) analysis with the experimental results of the clamping load and the leakage, the contact width which affects the occurrence of leakages on new metal gasket was clarified. The results obtained for these gaskets indicated that the contact width is similar.

The article studies different shell constructions of mid-water trawls and their properties. The problem settled is suggested to be solved taking into account real geometric interrelations between spacious and surface properties of cone shells. The author suggests to accept a so-called geometric quality coefficient as a criterion of the properties of a conical shell, which represents the ratio of the shell to the area of its side surface and by analogy to use it to the shell of the trawl. The relationship between the trawl dimensions and geometric quality coefficient have been studied. Comparing these figures with the actual characteristics of trawls showed good convergence. According to the results of theoretic analysis and parameters calculation, trawl large-size shells will always have advantages in geometric characteristics over mid-size and, especially, small-size shells. The results of the analysis can be used for approximate calculations of the parameters of the trawl and justification of ways to improve the performance of existing mid-water trawls.

Abstract AISI Type S2 is a water-hardening tool steel with extreme toughness and resistance to shock loading. Even at a hardness of Rockwell C 59-60, it will bend before it breaks. When hardened in medium-size and large-size pieces, it acquires a hard case and a tough core. Sizes under 3/4-inch (19mm) diameter will water harden to the center. The extreme toughness of Type S2 makes it suitable for use in many applications where no other tool steel will hold up. Its many uses include chisels, rivet busters, spike mauls, screw drivers, punches and sledges. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: TS-408. Producer or source: Tool steel mills.

The purpose of this study was to quantify the exercise intensity and technical involvement of U9 boys’ and girls’ team handball during different game formats, and the differences between genders. Locomotor activity (total distance, distance in speed zones, accelerations, and decelerations), heart rate (HR), and technical involvement (shots, goals, and duels) metrics were collected during various 15 min game formats from a total of 57 Danish U9 players (37 boys and 20 girls). Game formats were a small size pitch (20 × 13 m) with 3 vs 3 players and offensive goalkeepers (S3 + 1) and 4 vs 4 players (S4), a medium size pitch (25.8 × 20 m) with 4 vs 4 (M4) and 5 vs 5 (M5) players, and a large size pitch (40 × 20 m) with 5 vs 5 (L5) players. Boys and girls covered a higher total distance (TD) of high-speed running (HSR) and sprinting during L5 games compared to all other game formats (p < 0.05; ES = (−0.9 to −2.1), (−1.4 to −2.8), and (−0.9 to −1.3) respectively). Players covered the highest amount of sprinting distance in L5 games compared to all other game formats (p < 0.01; ES = 0.8 to 1.4). In all the game formats, players spent from 3.04 to 5.96 min in 180–200 bpm and 0.03 min to 0.85 min in >200 bpm of the total 15 min. In addition, both genders had more shots in S3 + 1 than M5 (p < 0.01; ES = 1.0 (0.4;1.7)) and L5 (p < 0.01; ES = 1.1 (0.6;2.2)). Team handball matches have high heart rates, total distances covered, and high-intensity running distances for U9 boys and girls irrespective of the game format. Locomotor demands appeared to be even higher when playing on larger pitches, whereas the smaller pitch size and fewer players led to elevated technical involvement.

AbstractTo evaluate the relationship between muscle fiber characteristics and the quality of frozen/thawed pork meat, four different muscles, M. longissimus thoracis et lumborum (LTL), M. psoas major (PM), M. semimembranosus (SM), and M. semitendinosus (ST), were analyzed from twenty carcasses. Meat color values (lightness, redness, yellowness, chroma, and hue) changed due to freezing/thawing in LTL, which showed larger IIAX, IIX, and IIXB fibers than found in SM (P < 0.05). SM and ST showed a significant decrease in purge loss and an increase in shear force caused by freezing/thawing (P < 0.05). Compared with LTL, SM contains more type IIXB muscle fibers and ST had larger muscle fibers I and IIA (P < 0.05). PM was the most stable of all muscles, since only its yellowness and chroma were affected by freezing/thawing (P < 0.05). These results suggest that pork muscle fiber characteristics of individual cuts must be considered to avoid quality deterioration during frozen storage.

This study analyzes the moderating effect of two key human resource practices on the relationship between organizational strategy and firm performance. In a sample of 66 small to medium-sized manufacturing firms we found that a total quality management strategy was most effective when supported by significant training and group-based incentive compensation. This result is discussed in light of the current debate in the field about “best practice” versus “fit” models of human resource management and business strategy.

ABSTRACTThe human fungal pathogenCryptococcus neoformansproduces an enlarged “titan” cell morphology when exposed to the host pulmonary environment. Titan cells exhibit traits that promote survival in the host. Previous studies showed that titan cells are not phagocytosed and that increased titan cell production in the lungs results in reduced phagocytosis of cryptococcal cells by host immune cells. Here, the effect of titan cell production on host-pathogen interactions during early stages of pulmonary cryptococcosis was explored. The relationship between titan cell production and phagocytosis was found to be nonlinear; moderate increases in titan cell production resulted in profound decreases in phagocytosis, with significant differences occurring within the first 24 h of the infection. Not only were titan cells themselves protected from phagocytosis, but titan cell formation also conferred protection from phagocytosis to normal-size cryptococcal cells. Large particles introduced into the lungs were not phagocytosed, suggesting the large size of titan cells protects against phagocytosis. The presence of large particles was unable to protect smaller particles from phagocytosis, revealing that titan cell size alone is not sufficient to provide the observed cross-protection of normal-size cryptococcal cells. These data suggest that titan cells play a critical role in establishment of the pulmonary infection by promoting the survival of the entire population of cryptococcal cells.

With the rapid development of information technology, information security has been gaining attention. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has issued international standards and technical reports related to information security, which are gradually being adopted by enterprises. This study analyzes the relationship between information security certification (ISO 27001) and corporate financial performance using data from Chinese publicly listed companies. The study focusses on the impact of corporate decisions such as whether to obtain certification, how long to hold certification, and whether to publicize information regarding certification. The results show that there is a positive correlation between ISO 27001 and financial performance. Moreover, the positive impact of ISO 27001 on financial performance gradually increases with time. In addition, choosing not to publicize ISO 27001 certification can negatively affect enterprise performance.
