Dietitians as healthcare professionals could decrease their quality of life during the SARS-COV-2 pandemic period; therefore, this study aimed to compare Brazilian dietitians’ perceptions of quality of life before and during the pandemic. This nationwide cross-sectional research aimed to evaluate Brazilian dietitians’ quality of life before and in the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, using a previously validated self-administered instrument WHO-QOL-BREF in Brazilian-Portuguese. The questionnaire was composed of 26 items (four domains) to evaluate life quality (physical, psychological, social relationship, and environment). The questionnaire also presented some sociodemographic variables and three questions about the COVID-19 pandemic. It was applied using GoogleForms® platform (Google LLC, Mountain View, CA, USA). For the statistical analysis of data, Paired T-test, Chi-squared test, and Analysis of Variance were used. A total of 1290 Brazilian dietitians replied to the instrument. Comparing quality of life (QoL) before SARS-COV-2 (3.83 ± 0.59) and during the pandemic (3.36 ± 0.66), data was statistically different. Comparing prior and in the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, all variables and domains presented statistical differences (better before the pandemic period). Among Brazilian dietitians, the psychological health domain was the most affected. The Sars-Cov-2 pandemic negatively impacted the QoL of Brazilian dietitians since health professionals face changes in their lives because of work.

The present study was designed to examine psychosocial predictors of quality of life (QoL) such as body image, self-esteem, impact of Vitiligo (psychologically and socially), and perceived stigmatization in patients with Vitiligo. The sample (N =120) comprised of individuals with Vitiligo recruited from dermatology units of different hospitals in Lahore. Body Image State Scale (Cash, Fleming, Alindogan, Steadman, & Whitehead 2002), Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965), Vitiligo Impact Scale (Rammam, Khaitan, Mehta, Sreenivas, & Gupta, 2014), Perceived Stigmatization Questionnaire (Lawrence, Fauerbach, Heinberg, & Thomas, 2006) and Dermatology Life Quality Index (Finlay & Khan, 1994) were used as assessment measures. Results revealed that most of the individuals with Vitiligo reported poorer perception of QoL; while, men with Vitiligo expressed better perceived QoL as compared to women. Individuals with both types of Vitiligo (lesions on exposed/unexposed regions) expressed poor body image, negative impact of Vitiligo on their psycho-social functioning, and higher levels of perceived stigmatization. Individuals with exposed Vitiligo affected regions exhibited lower self-esteem. In addition, body image, impact of Vitiligo (psychologically and socially), and perceived stigmatization (absence of friendly behavior) significantly predicted QoL. It was concluded that Vitiligo had a greater impact on individual’s psychological health and social functioning rather than physiological complications.

Satisfaction with quality of life and self-attitude in patients operated by «traditional» (conventional surgical methods) and endoscopically assisted methods are considered in the article. Differences in the quality of life in patients, self-attitude to ones appearance are described. 65 patients were surgically operated and examined. Control group – patients operated by «traditional» techniques (35 patients), the average age of patients was 38 ± 11,1 years. The comparison group – patients operated using endoscopically assisted methods (30 patients), the average age of patients was 44 ± 17,7 years. Psychodiagnostic methods: 1. N. E. Vodopyanova`s scale of life quality; 2. The Short Form-36; 3. S.R. Panteleev`s Assessment of self-relationship. Complaints of paresthesia and pain experienced by patients who underwent a “traditional” operation were revealed as a result of the examination. Operated on with an endoscopically assisted method patients did not present any complaints. Differences between the assessment of the life quality and self-relationship in examined groups were found. Operated on with an endoscopically assisted method patients evaluated life quality, satisfaction with their appearance and physical condition higher than patients operated on with a “traditional” method.

Background. The professional Quality of Life Scale (QLS) can provide a valuable reference for the diagnosis of visual function anomalies. In the present study, we aimed to design a novel QLS to specially quantify the life quality of schoolchildren with nonstrabismic binocular vision anomalies (NSBVAs) in China. Methods. The novel QLS, named QOL-CVF20, was established based on classical vision-related scales and the administration of the questionnaire to 116 schoolchildren with NSBVAs and 100 healthy schoolchildren in China. The diagnostic reference value between QOL-CVF20 and VF-14 was evaluated on the questionnaires to 240 schoolchildren with NSBVAs and 238 healthy schoolchildren. Results. All the subjects could complete the QOL-CVF20 questionnaires independently. QOL-CVF20 had good structural validity, content validity, and discriminant validity, when it was applied in Chinese schoolchildren. The average score of the NSBVA group was significantly lower than that of the control group (49.0±6.9 vs. 69.7±6.7, respectively; P<0.01). Moreover, the average score of cured NSBVA schoolchildren after treatment (61.8±22.6) was significantly improved (P<0.01). Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis showed that QOL-CVF20 reflected strong separation between the NSBVA and healthy groups (AUC=0.901). Meanwhile, QOL-CVF20 could detect individuals with NSBVAs with specificity of 0.847 and sensitivity of 0.846. The critical value of 58.50 in QOL-CVF20 could be effectively applied for quality of life assessment in schoolchildren with NSBVAs. Conclusions. QOL-CVF20 could quantify the life quality of schoolchildren with NSBVAs and might be served as a valuable reference for early diagnosis and clinical evaluation of NSBVAs.

Background. Disability caused by migraine may be one of the main causes of burden contributing to poor quality of life (QOL) among migraine patients. Thus, this study aimed to measure QOL among migraine sufferers in comparison with healthy controls.Methods. Female diagnosed migraine patients (n= 100) and healthy controls (n=100) completed the Malay version of the World Health Organization QOL Brief (WHOQOL-BREF) questionnaire. Only migraine patients completed the Malay version of the Migraine Disability Assessment questionnaire.Results. Females with migraines had significantly lower total WHOQOL-BREF scores (84.3) than did healthy controls (91.9,P<0.001). Similarly, physical health (23.4 versus 27.7,P<0.001) and psychological health scores (21.7 versus 23.2,P< 0.001) were significantly lower than those for healthy controls. Seventy-three percent of patients experienced severe disability, with significantly higher number of days with headaches (13.8 days/3 months,P< 0.001) and pain scores (7.4,P< 0.013). Furthermore, migraine patients with lower total QOL scores had 1.2 times higher odds of having disability than patients with higher total QOL scores.Conclusions. The present study showed that migraine sufferers experienced significantly lower QOL than the control group from a similar population. Disability was severe and frequent and was associated with lower QOL among the migraine patients.

Introduction. The article provides latest data on modern methods of treating rosacea. The results of own clinical observations of patients with moderate to severe papulopustular rosacea receiving combination treatment and a comparative analysis of the efficacy of various therapy regimens are presented. Objective of the study. The aim of the study was to conduct a comparative analysis of the therapeutic efficacy of combination therapy using the ivermectin 1% topical drug combined with systemic therapy drugs (doxycycline, minocycline, isotretinoin).Materials and methods. We observed 37 patients with moderate to severe papulo-pustular rosacea subtype. The patients were divided into 4 groups (A, B, C, D). Patients in the control group received monotherapy with 1% ivemectin topical drug, patients in the other groups received combination therapy (1% ivermectin combined with low-dose doxycycline, minocycline and isotretinoin). The efficacy of the therapy was evaluated by measuring rosacea severity on the Scale for Diagnostic Assessment of Rosacea (SDAR), clinical manifestations according to the IGA (Investigator Global Assessment) criteria, and by assessing the patients' quality of life using the DLQI (Dermatology Life Quality Index) questionnaire before and after 3-month treatment.Results. The comparative analysis of changes in severity indicators of the skin process and quality of life in patients with moderate to severe papulopustular rosacea after topical and combination therapy showed that the results of the treatment in patients receiving combination therapy were more significant than those in the group receiving monotherapy.Conclusion. The concomitant use of 1% ivermectin and systemic drugs is most effective in patients with severe papulopustular rosacea subtype. The combination treatment tailored to the clinical forms and severity of rosacea allows to optimize the clinical results of the therapy, which significantly affects the patients' quality of life and opens up potential for an individual approach in the algorithms for the treatment of rosacea.
