In economic theory and practice, the term standard of living has emerged in recent decades. It was created as a suitable response to problems related to people’s lives, regional inequalities in the level of development and served as an acceptable concept for more complex valorization of development potentials, especially in rural areas. The subject of the research is a comparative analysis of the quality of life in Serbia and Northern Macedonia according to Numbeo database. The aim of this paper is to point out the importance of living standards from both economic and sociological aspects, as well as to review the position of Serbia and Northern Macedonia in relation to other countries in the region based on the analysis of collected data and research. The reason for the comparative presentation of Serbia and Northern Macedonia is that the quality of life is at an approximate level. The salary of employees in education in these countries represents an average income that is sufficient for a satisfactory quality of life. The standard of living of a country depends on a number of factors such as political factors, economic factors, demographic, environmental and cultural factors.

The paper analyses construction and use of a selected indicator of pro-poor growth – the rate of pro-poor growth. It further explains the interpretation of this indicator in absolute and relative terms and indicates how economic growth affects poverty and inequality. The selected indicator is applied to the example of Indonesia and compares pro-poor growth in urban and rural areas of the country, examines regional disparities in terms of pro-poor growth for the period 1996–2019. From the absolute interpretation, pro-poor growth is observed in both urban and rural areas over the whole period. In relative terms, results of pro-poor growth for the first partial period (1996–2000) differ. While there was a relative pro-poor growth in the rural areas, there was a strong pro-poor growth in the cities with a significant decline in inequality observed (incomes of poor people increased while the average income of the whole population dropped). Indonesia achieved trickle-down growth in both rural and urban areas in two remaining periods (2000–2010 and 2010–2019).

The problem of poverty is a classic problem that occurs in every country, both developed countries and developing countries like Indonesia. In every country, there are many programs carried out by the government to overcome the problem of poverty, one of which is the RASKIN program carried out by the Indonesian government. The method used to complete this research is SMARTER (Simple Multi Attribute Rating Technique Exploiting Ranks). During the Covid 19 pandemin, which is currently happening, various kinds of assistance are needed for middle and lower class people in rural areas, thus to distribute assistance, assistance distribution techniques are needed so that it reaches the right people. The SMARTER method was chosen because it is a form of decision support model used in decision making with multi attributes that will be used to solve decision-making problems. The research was conducted in Sei Beluru Village, Meranti District, Asahan Regency. In Sei Beluru Village, several criteria were obtained from direct observation of the field, namely the area of the house floor, the type of floor of the house, the type of house wall, the toilet facilities, the source of drinking water, lighting, materials. fuel used, frequency of eating, ability to buy meat, ability to buy clothes, ability to seek treatment, monthly income, education of the head of household, ownership of assets. Decision support systems using the Smarter method are able to analyze data on people who are entitled to receive Raskin assistance. The results obtained from this study are that from several prospective recipients of Raskin assistance with the specified criteria, it is found that the most prioritized alternative has the highest value of 0.603 using the Smarter method.

Abstract This chapter examines the gendered effects of drought-induced migration in rural Morocco for settler migrants and farmers who stay behind in sending communities. Due to state investments in irrigation, the Saiss plains of Morocco are experiencing rural-rural migration as an adaptive strategy for many who are escaping climate change and unemployment, to take advantage of labor opportunities in agricultural sectors elsewhere. The well-being and decision making power of male and female migrants in receiving communities (Betit and Sidi Slimane) and women staying behind in sending communities (Ain Jemaa) are examined. The chapter begins with a literature review on decision making power, gender, migration, and work in rural areas. Following this, the case study characteristics are presented, which detail how climate change is fueling migration, gender norms in host and sending communities, as well as the gender dynamics in accessing economic opportunities and decision making power. The chapter ends with recommendations to strengthen the women's decision making power as migration continues, with a focus on strengthening landed property ownership for women.
