Date palm seed is one of the waste by-products generated from industrial commodities. Date seed oil can be obtained through solvent extraction using a Soxhlet apparatus. In this experiment, date palm seed was used as raw material with ethyl acetate as the solvent. The experiment was carried out by varying extraction time and the mass ratio of date palm seed to solvent. The highest oil concentration of 9.5% was obtained at date palm seed to solvent mass ratio of 1:6 with extraction time of 2 hours. Peroxide value, iodine value, specific gravity, and free fatty acid content of date seed oil were, consecutively, 0.81 meq/kg oil, 10.15 mg/g, 0.80, and 0.52%. The highest fatty acid composition of date seed oil was oleic acid at 37.22% followed by lauric acid at 19.36%.

Production of biodiesel from non-edible oils is one of the effective methods to reduce production costs and alleviate the obstacle of traditional raw material supply. Rhus typhina L. (RT) is a promising non-edible plant because it grows fast and has abundant seeds. But previously reported oil content of RT was only 9.7% and 12%. Further research into improving the biodiesel production of RT seed oil is urgently needed. Here we obtained the biodiesel production of RT with a maximum oil content of 22% with a low free fatty acid content of 1.0%. The fatty acid methyl ester (FAMEs) of the RT seed oil was produced by a standard optimized protocol use KOH as a catalyst with the highest yield of 93.4% (w/w). The quality and purity of RT FAMEs, as well as the physio-chemical characterizations of the biodiesel products, were investigated and compared with the international standard of ASTM D6751 and EN 14214. The values of fuel properties are comparable with mineral diesel and environmentally friendly. Overall, the proposed RT seed oil could be a potential source of raw materials for producing high-quality biodiesel after the optimization and transesterification.

The present study was designed to estimate the physicochemical & fatty acid profile of date palm Phoenix dactylifera L. grown at kech District,Baluchistan.the obtained oil yield was 9.77% by the soxhlet extraction.the  fat content in date seed was 9.15%,protein 5.33%,crude fiber 6.89%,ash 1.13%,moisture 9.78% total carbohydrate content was 73.32% and refractive index was 1.449%.the chemical properties such as Acid value,Saponification value,Iodine value and peroxide value was 1.89%,187.83%,56.568% and 1.244 respectively.while the mineral analysis was done by using atomic absorption spectrophotometer and results indicate that potassium was the most abundant mineral (247.32%)followed by the magnesium (63.73%), phosphorus  (43.07%)and calcium was (38.89%).whereas the fatty acid composition of date seed oil shows that it was a oleic-lauric acid being the abundant fatty acid found in it followed by the linoleic,stearic and palmitic acid. The all results showed that date seed oil is an excellent nutritional source and it would also play a vital role in cosmetics and neutraceutical industries.

The desert date seeds were collected from Gomo, washed, decocted, dried, and pulverized. The seed oil was extracted using soxhlet apparatus with n- hexane as solvent. The percentage yield of the extracted oil was found to be 40.5%. While the physicochemical analysis of the seed oil was conducted using standard procedures with the following results; specific density 0.98g/cm3, saponification value 134mgKOH/g, peroxide value 38meq/kg, acid value 12.6mgKOH/g, free fatty acid value 12.7mgKOH/g. These results indicate that Desert date seed oil could be a rich source of oil for industrial and domestic purposes if exploited richly.

This work focuses on the extraction of oil from date palm seed. Using n-hexane in Soxlet extraction apparatus, standard procedures were followed to determine the oil feed stock yield. Proximate compositions and physicochemical characteristics were carried out. Also, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) were used to determine the functional groups and the fatty acid composition of the oil respectively. The result shows that the appearance of date palm seed oil is reddish brown in colour. Result from the FTIR analysis also shows that 17 peaks were noticed from date palm seed oil, indicating the presence of various functional groups such as OH, C-H, C=C, C=O, C  The dominating types and number of functional groups are found on the single bond stretch and on the fingerprint region skeletal vibration. Similarly, the GC-MS result also reveals that there are 5 dominating fatty acid compounds present in date palm seed oil in relation to their abundant relative weight composition. In date seed oil, oleic acid which comprise of omega-9 fatty acid is found to be the only monounsaturated fatty acid with the highest weight composition of 49.4%. The inference that can be drawn from the results in this work in relation to application suggest that, date palm seed oil will be suitable for soap production and cleansing agents. Also, omega-9 fatty acid has some health benefits that can strengthen the brain as well as the heart. Furthermore, research on the life shelf and storage of this oil should be looked into, as it relates to the peroxidation of oil.

Palado (Aglaia sp) is a plant that grows wild in the forest around Mamuju regency of West Sulawesi, Indonesia. This plant is locally known as palado. Palado seeds (Aglaia sp) can be used as a source of vegetable oil because it contains approximately 14.75 % oil, and it has the potential to be used as food ingredients or as raw material for oil production. The purpose of this study was to determine the chemical properties and the composition of fatty acids contained in palado seed oil (Aglaia sp). The employed method involved the use of palado fruit that had been processed to be palado seed and undergoing flouring process. Palado flour was produced by the extraction process by using chloroform solvent with the soxhlet method. The characteristics of the chemical properties in the oil produced were analyzed by using a standard method, including iodine, saponification, and acid values. The analysis of fatty acid composition was conducted by using gas chromatography. The results showed that palado oil extracted with hexane had an iodine value of 15.38 mg/g, saponification value of 190.01 mg KOH/g, and acids value of 1.961 mg KOH/g. The fatty acid composition of the palado seed oil consisted of saturated fatty acids (41.601 %), which included palmitic acid (41.062 %), myristic acid (0.539 %), and unsaturated fatty acids (45.949 %), which included mono-unsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) such as (22.929 %), oleic acid and poly-unsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), which was linoleic acid (23.020 %).

Oil extracted from the seeds ofCaesalpinia spinosa(common name: tara) can be used in a number of applications. In the present study, tara seed oil was obtained by ultrasonic extraction. The effects of different solvents, particle sizes in the ground seed samples, extraction times, ultrasonication powers, extraction temperatures, and liquid–solid ratios on the yield of tara seed oil were investigated. The yield from the ultrasonic extraction was compared with that from traditional Soxhlet extraction. The results showed that ultrasonic extraction could be completed in a shorter time with reduced solvent consumption. The yield of tara seed oil increased with increasing ultrasonication power and extraction temperature. Gas chromatography was used to analyze the fatty acid compositions of the oils extracted by the two methods. The fatty acid compositions of the oils from both extraction methods were similar, which indicates that ultrasonic extraction is a viable alternative means of extraction. It is a rapid, efficient, and simple method for production of lipids from tara seeds.
