Objective. We evaluated the effect of arbuscular mycorrhizal inoculation in Citrusvolkameriana Tan & Pasq plants with the application of Glomus spp Zac- 19 (G.claroides, G. diaphanum and G. albidum) to assess growth under greenhouseconditions without fertilizer application.Methodology. The evaluated treatments were inoculation with 2,4,6,8, and 10 g ofinoculum, plus a control without inoculation in an experimental design of completerandomized blocks with three replications. Variables were plant height, stem diameter,number of leaves, foliar area, dry weight, and mycorrhizal colonization.Results. A statistically significant response (p?0.01) to inoculation wasobserved, registering higher growth of mycorrhizal plants. The inoculation wasconsidered appropriate for all the levels evaluated. The outstanding treatment was 10 gof inoculum that produced plants with 110.16 cm in height for the last sampling; 38.56leaves per plant; 1.13 cm stem diameter; 35.95 g dry weight of root; 76.88 g dry weightof the aerial part of the plant; 225.03 cm 2 of leaf area per plant and 88.87% ofmycorrhizal colonization.Conclusions. The application of 10 g per plant to the roots of Citrus volkameriana fromthe Glomus Zac-19 arbuscular mycorrhizal consortium promoted the production of morevigorous plants for grafting, without the application of chemical fertilizer.

O experimento foi conduzido em delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado em esquema fatorial 5x4 com 4 repetições, em casa de vegetação no Núcleo de Engenharia de Água e Solo (NEAS), pertencente à Universidade Federal do Recôncavo da Bahia, localizada no município de Cruz das Almas - BA. A cultivar utilizada foi a Anão de Jardim e os tratamentos foram constituídos por cinco concentrações de água residuária diluídas em água de abastecimento (0, 25, 50, 75 e 100%) e quatro lâminas de irrigação obtidas a partir das percentagens de evaporação do tanque classe A (70, 90, 110 e 130%). As variáveis analisadas foram: altura da planta (AP), diâmetro do caule (DC), número de folhas (NF), massa fresca e seca da parte aérea (MFPA e MSPA), dias para o aparecimento de botões florais (DABF), dias para o período de floração (DPF), dias para abertura total dos capítulos (DATC), diâmetros internos e externos dos capítulos (DI e DE), massa fresca e seca dos capítulos (MFC e MSC), além da estimativa do consumo hídrico da planta (CH). Os resultados obtidos mostraram que, com exceção da AP, todas as variáveis foram influenciadas pelas lâminas de irrigação ou pelas diluições de água residuária, não havendo influência significativa da interação entre os fatores para nenhuma das variáreis avaliadas. O uso de água residuária e a lâmina de 110% da evaporação do tanque classe A favoreceram o desenvolvimento do girassol. The experiment was conducted in experimental design completely randomized in a factorial 5x4 with 4 repetitions in a greenhouse at the Center of Water and Soil Engineering (NEAS), of the Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia, located in Cruz das Almas, BA, Brazil. The cultivar used was cv. Anão de Jardim and the treatments consisted of five wastewater concentrations diluted in water supply (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100%) and four irrigations blades obtained through evaporation of the percentages of the class A pan (70, 90 , 110 and 130%). The variables analyzed were: plant height (AP), stem diameter (DC), number of leaves (NF), fresh and dry weight of the aerial part (MFPA and MSPA), days for the appearance of flower buds (DABF), days to flowering period (DPF), days for full opening of chapters (DATC), internal and external diameters of the chapters (DI and DE), fresh and dry weight of chapters (MFC and MSC), and the estimate of water consumption plant. The results showed that, except for the AP, all variables were influenced by the irrigation blades or the wastewater concentrations, and there was no significant influence of interaction between factors for any evaluated variables. The use of wastewater and 110% evaporation of the class A pan depth favored the development of sunflower. The highbush blueberry cultivar Bluecrop was inoculated with potential plant growth-promoting (PGPR) candidates, including bacterial inoculants Pseudomonas fluorescens (Migula) (strains Pf 5, PRA 25, 105, or 101), Bacillus pumilus (Mayer and Gottheil) (strain T4), Pseudomonas corrugata (Roberts and Scarlett) (strain 114), and fungal isolates Gliocladium virens (Miller et al., Von Arx) (strain Gl.21) and Trichoderma harzianum (Rifai) (strain T 22). Addition of G. virens to pasteurized soil increased leaf area and the number of leaves produced in a 4-month growth period, as well as shoot content of P, Zn and Cu in 1997. Treatment with P. fluorescens Pf 5 increased leaf area and stem diameter. In nonpasteurized soil, plants inoculated with G. virens had greater leaf area, stem diameter, shoot and root dry weight, and more leaves per plant. These results demonstrate the potential of G. virens for increasing growth when used to inoculate blueberry plants in the nursery or at transplanting.

Miramar cultivado em vaso na FCAV-UNESP, Jaboticabal-SP.  O experimento foi conduzido em blocos casualizados com avaliação em parcelas subdivididas no tempo, com os tratamentos correspondentes a quatro diferentes soluções nutritivas compostas de fertilizantes comerciais (S1, S2, S3 e S4) e avaliadas em seis épocas (0, 14, 28, 42, 56  e 70 dias após enraizamento - DAE), com cinco repetições. Foram avaliados a altura de plantas; área foliar; número de folhas; diâmetro de haste; massa seca de parte aérea, raízes e total; número e o diâmetro de inflorescências; e, os índices fisiológicos da análise de crescimento. As soluções nutritivas não interferiram significativamente no diâmetro de haste, número e diâmetro de inflorescências e massa seca de raízes. Entretanto, S3 e S4 promoveram a maior altura de plantas, área foliar, número de folhas, massa seca da parte aérea e total. The experiment had a randomized block design with split-plot evaluation and treatments corresponding to four nutritive solutions consisting of commercial fertilizers (S1, S2, S3, S4) evaluated at 0, 14, 28, 42, 56 and 70 days after rooting (DAE), with five replications. The plant height, leaf area, number of leaves, stem diameter, total dry matter mass of aerial part and roots; number and diameter of inflorescences, and physiological indexes of growth analysis were evaluated. The nutritive solutions did not interfere significantly in stem diameter, number and diameter of inflorescences and dry matter of roots, although S3 and S4 provided the highest plants, leaf area, number of leaves, total dry matter of aerial part. This study aims to determine the effect of bacterial isolates of Bacillus subtilis Bs-Sdj-01 and Trichoderma sp. Tc-Jro-02 isolates as biological fertilizer in plant growth until the end of the vegetative phase. The experiment was arranged factorially in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with each factor being the application of B. subtilis consisting of and without B. subtilis and the Trichoderma application consisting of with and without Trichoderma; the experiment was repeated four times. The observed variables were: plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf area, stover dry weight, root dry weight, and B. subtilis population at the end of the observation. Data were analyzed using with ANOVA and HSD tests at the 5% level. The combination of Trichoderma sp. and B. subtilis bacteria produce the highest increase in plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf area, stover dry weight, and root dry weight of soybean plants up to 35 days after planting and increase B. subtilis population grew from 1010 CFU.g-1 to be 4.43x1011 CFU.g-1. The presence of Trichoderma supports the activity of B. subtilis in the rhizosphere of the Detam variety soybean plantation.

Abstract The objective of this work was to evaluate the growth and essential oil content after transplantation and cutting of Lippia rotundifolia accessions from a natural population from the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Eight accessions were evaluated (PVP, GIG, RPE, ODA, JFE, PRP, SGS, and RTI) in six periods (60, 81, 102, 123, 144, and 165 days after transplanting and cutting), in a completely randomized experimental design. The following parameters were assessed: average width and length of the basal, median, and apical pair of leaves; plant height; stem diameter; and number of leaves. At 165 days, the yield of essential oil and the fresh and dry phytomass of the aerial part were also evaluated. Sixty days after the last evaluation, regrowth was measured from height, stem diameter, and number of leaves. The JFE accession stands out for emission of leaves, with a better development at 165 days after transplanting. RPE and PRP respond well to regrowth at 102 and 123 days after cutting, respectively. The SGS accession shows a high essential oil yield of 2.2%, and PVP, a low yield of 0.3%.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the growth of crisp lettuce in hydroponic cultivation, following the nutrient film technique (NFT), using optimized mineral and organomineral nutrient solutions. The experiment was set in 8 x 3 factorial scheme, with treatments distributed in randomized blocks and split plots, with three replicates. The plots corresponded to eight nutrient solutions, of which four were mineral solutions with chemical composition suggested by Bernardes, Furlani, Castellane & Araújo and Ueda, and four were organomineral solutions, suggested by this research with chemical composition similar to those of the previously mentioned mineral solutions. The subplots corresponded to three varieties of crisp lettuce: Thaís, Vanda and Verônica. At 25 days after transplanting, the following parameters were evaluated: stem and crown diameter, root length, leaf area and number of leaves. For stem and crown diameters and number of leaves, the mineral solutions promoted the highest means. The mineral solution of Furlani and the organomineral solutions, except the modified solution of Castellane & Araújo, promoted the greatest root lengths. The smallest leaf area was obtained in the organomineral solution of Ueda. The cultivar Verônica had the highest root length and stem diameter.

Rooted cuttings of Taxus times media var. densiformis Rehd. were inoculated with the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi Gigaspora gigantea (Nicol. & Gerd.) Gerd. & Trappe or Glomus intraradices Schenck and Smith and grown for 9-15 months in a greenhouse. At the completion of the experiments, leaves of inoculated plants contained significantly more chlorophyll (1.3-4.1 times as much) than did noninoculated plants. In addition, mycorrhizal plants had root systems that were significantly larger (1.3-1.4 times) and longer (1.7-2.1 times) than nonmycorrhizal plants, and they possessed significantly more branch roots (1.3-2.9 times). No differences in stem diameter and height or shoot dry weight were evident at the end of the experiments, although the number of buds was significantly greater in the cuttings inoculated with G. intraradices after 15 months.

Plantlet that has developed shoots and roots will have a high level adaptation in the field. The objective of this experiment was to improve the ability of planlet in shooting and rooting so that it is ready for acclimatization in the field. The increase ability in shooting and rooting of the planlet were conducted by adding various types of auxin in the media. The arabica coffee embryo of clone AS 2K which has entered the phase of the cotyledons was transfered into the treatment media containing half-strength of MS (Murashige & Skoog) macro and micro nutrient, vitamin B5, 30 g/L glucose, 100 ml/L coconut water, 50 mg/L AgNO3 added with the combination of IAA, IBA and NAA. The research was conducted by using completely randomized design with seven combined treatment i.e. 0.1 mg/L IBA, 0.1 mg/L NAA, 0.1 mg/L IAA; 0 , 1 mg/L IBA + 0.1 mg/L NAA, 0.1 mg/L IBA + 0.1 mg/L IAA, 0.1 mg/L NAA + 0.1 mg/L IAA; without auxin. There were 12 replications in every treatment and each replication consisted of five cotyledonary embryos. The parameters of observation were the root length, leaf number, leaf area, stem diameter, and height of plantlets. The observations were conducted in eighth weeks after cotyledonary embryo had shoots. The results showed that in the number of leaves and height of planlet parameters, the treatment without auxin was the best result compared to planlet with auxin addition. The addition of auxin varians and their combination did not significantly influent leaf area, root length and stem diameter parameters. The medium tested was optimum for the growth of shoots and roots of AS 2K arabica coffee.

Field trial was carried out during the 2019 rainy season (June to October) at the Dryland Teaching and Research Farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto to determine the growth and yield of sorghum varieties in the study area. The treatments consisted of five (5) sorghum varieties (Samsorg 45, Samsorg 46, Janjari, Yartawa and Jardawa), the treatments were laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) replicated three (3) times. Data were collected on the growth and yield of the crop. Janjari and Jardawa varieties were higher in plant height. Jardawa and Yartawa varieties were higher in number of leaves. Janjari and Yartawa varieties were higher in total dry weight. Janjari, Jardawa and Yartawa varieties were higher in harvest index. Yartawa variety was higher in leaf area, leaf area index and 1000-grain weight. Jardawa variety was higher in panicle length. Janjari variety was early in number of days to heading, flowering, and maturity and was higher in dry stalk weight. The grain yield (249 – 1506kg ha-1 ) was higher in Janjari and Yartawa varieties (1268 – 1506 kg ha-1). Based on the findings of this research, it could be concluded that Janjari and Yartawa varieties performed better than other varieties in the study area.

A field experiment was carried out during rabi season of 2018-2019, at college farm, College of Horticulture, Dr. Y.S.R. Horticultural University, Venkataramannagudem, West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh. The experiment was laidout in a Randomised Block Design with eleven treatments (viz., T1- NAA @ 50 ppm, T2-NAA @ 100 ppm, T3-GA3 @ 50 ppm,  T4-GA3 @ 100 ppm, T5-Thiourea @ 250 ppm, T6-Thiourea @ 500 ppm, T7-28-Homobrassinolide @ 0.1 ppm, T8-28-Homobrassinolide @ 0.2 ppm, T9-Triacontinol @ 2.5 ppm, T10-Triacontinol @ 5 ppm, T11-(Control) Water spray) and three replications. The treatments were imposed at 30 and 45 DAT in the form of foliar spray. Foliar application of GA3@ 100 ppm (T4) had recorded the maximum plant height (108.20 cm), leaf area (9.53 cm2) and leaf area index (0.74). Foliar application of thiourea @ 250 ppm (T5) had recorded the maximum values with respect to number of primary branches (15.03 plant-1), number of secondary branches (83.40 plant-1), plant spread (1793 cm2 plant-1), fresh weight (376.29 g plant-1), dry weight (103.54 g plant-1) and number of leaves plant-1((298.8). The same treatment (T5) had recorded the highest values with respect to crop growth rate (1.44 gm-2d-1), chlorophyll-a (1.40 mg g-1), chlorophyll-b (0.076 mg g-1) and total chlorophyll contents (1.48 mg g-1) in the leaves.
