The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of continuity and smoothing of profits on the relationship between corporate profits - Stock efficiency taking into account the heterogeneous profit relationship – efficiency on companies admitted to the Tehran Stock Exchange, generally, profit has always been a factor in investor decisions. In this regard, on the one hand, accounting and stock returns are linked together, on the other hand, the variable of earnings quality is related to accounting profit and stock returns. So it may be that the question arises what is the effect of the continuity and smoothing of profits on the relationship between accounting profit and stock returns? The present research seeks to answer this question; as a result, the main question of the research is presented as follows: What is the effect of continuity and smoothing of earnings on the relationship between earnings and stock returns for listed companies in Tehran Stock Exchange? To check this, the data of 123 companies listed in Tehran Stock Exchange during the years 2012-2016 were used; data was analyzed using the Logit method using Eviews10 software. Evidence and empirical findings have shown that; both profit continuity and profit smoothing criteria have significant effects on the heterogeneous relationship between current period earnings and stock returns.

This study aims to examine the effect of earnings quality in moderating the relationship of cash holdings and firms efficiency. This study is classified as causative research. The population in this study are manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange period of 2013 to 2016. By using purposive sampling method, there were 88 companies as the research’s sample. Firms Efficiency variable are measured by the DEA model, cash holdings variable are measured by cash ratio, and earnings quality variable are measure by accrual quality. The type of data used is secondary data obtained from www.idx.co.id and used is panel regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that cash holdings has a positive and significant effect on firms efficiency, but earnings quality is not able to strengthen or weaken the relationship between cash holdings and firms efficiency. This research is try to determine the effect of military background and political connections on earning quality with audit quality as a mediator. This research uses a quantitative approach using a sample of mining sector company that listing in Indonesia Stock Exchange in the 2017-2018 periods. The conclusion of this research points out that military background has positive effect on audit quality and political connections negatively affect earning quality. While earning quality not effected by the military background, political connections do not effect audit quality, and earnings quality not effected by audit quality. Likewise, for the hypothesis, mediation of the audit quality has no effect on the relationship of military background and political connections to earnings quality.

This study investigates the relationship between interest rate and stock price volatility in textile sector of Karachi Stock Exchange. Initially, EWMA model is used to calculate the volatility of stock prices. Stock returns are calculated as a proxy to stock prices. Afterwards, linear regression analyzes the relation between interest rate and stock price volatility. The significance F change is below the limit of 0.05 showing goodness-to-fit of the model to project the responses from predictor to be reliable. The research concludes the relationship of interest rate with volatility of stock prices as slightly inverse in nature.

This study is conducted to analyse the relationship between accounting information in the financial statements and the stock returns of listed firms in Vietnam Stock Market. Using OLS, FEM, REM, GLS, and GMM regression models, the study examines the relationship of earnings, volatility in the rate of return, size, levering ratios and growth rates to the stock returns of 274 firms in the period from 2012 to 2016. Findings from the study show that the rate of return, the change in the rate of return, gearing ratio and growth rate are positively correlated to the stock returns, while the size of firm by assets is negatively related to stock returns. Based on the research’s results, the authors also provide some recommendations for investors, firm management and policy makers.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of inflation and exchange rate to company performance, investigate the effect of company performance to stock returns and investigate the effects of inflation and exchange rate that is mediated by the performance of the company. The population used was the company in LQ 45 listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange by year study period from 2017 to 2019. The total sample is 21 companies for each year selected by purposive sampling method and using secondary data, the annual report. The analytical method used is the method of path analysis and hypothesis testing mediation conducted by using Sobel test. The analysis showed that inflation and the exchange rate had a negative effect and no significant effect on the performance of the company. The company's performance has a positve effect and no significant effect on stock returns. This study also show that the company's performance did not play a role in mediating the relationship of inflation and exchange rate.

This study aims to examine the effect of disclosure and earnings quality on the cost of equity. The theory used to explain the relationship of each variable in this study is agency theory and signal theory. The population used in this study is a manufacturing company listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period 2013-2017. The sample selection method used is the purposive sampling method and produced 87 companies as samples. Data analysis in this study used E-Views (Econometric Views). The results of this study succeeded in proving that the higher the disclosure and earnings quality can reduce the cost of equity.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of profitability and earnings per share on stock returns and the role of size as a moderating variable in state-owned companies listed in the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in the period of 2011-2016. By using purposive sampling, the number of samples included 18 companies. Method was conducted by downloading summary of financial statements in the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The research began with classical assumption test, multiple linear regression analysis was done with the absolute difference test. The research found that profitability had no effect on stock return. Earnings per share and size had a significant negative effect on stock return. The role of size as a moderating variable strengthened the relationship of earnings per share with stock returns, but it did not play a role in the relationship of profitability with stock returns.

Earnings management is the moral hazard problem of manager that adses because of the conflict of interest between the manager as agent and the stakeholder and the owner as principal. The behavior of earnings management will immediately influence the reported earning. The aims of this research at examining the relationship of board and audit committe to earnings management. The samples of this research is all of companies member Corporate Governance Perception Index (CGPI) in the years of 2003-2006 which were listed in Jakarta Stock Exchange. The results of this study show that (1) the proportion of independent directors on the board had not significant relationship to earning management, (2) competence of independent directors on the board had not significant relationship to earning management, (3) the size of board had significant relationship to earning management, (4) the proportion of independent directors on the audit committe had not significant relationship to earning management, and (5) competence of members of the audit committe had significant relationship to earning management.
