The purpose of the article is to identify the structural and regional peculiarities of developing retail trade in Ukraine during 1990–2019. On the basis of the research the author has come to conclusion that the process of developing retail trade in Ukraine during the years 1990–2018 can be divided into four periods, two of which (2000–2013 and 2016–2018) show positive dynamics of changes in the industry, and the other two (1991–1999 and 2014–2016) reflect the negative consequences of the processes that took place in the country’s economy at that time. The structure of retail trade of the whole period analyzed, with the exception of 1993–2001, was dominated by non-food goods. Their share increased from 55.6 % in 1990 to 61.5 % in 2018. The turnover structure at retail trade enterprises in 2005–2013 varied from region to region: in some regions the volume of retail turnover was increasing, while in others it was shrinking. The analysis has showed that during 2005–2019, the structure of Ukraine’s retail trade turnover was dominated by consumer goods produced in the country, but their share fell from 70.5% to 52.4%. The realization of consumer goods in Ukraine during the period analyzed was carried out mainly through traditional sales channels (i.e., shops). The research has resulted in proving that the share of trade turnover made with payment cards increased from 21.3 % to 30.8 % during 2017–2019. At the same time, retail trade, carried out by way of executing bank loan agreements, accounted for a small share, ranging from 2.2 to 2.4 %. A thorough analysis of the commodity structure of retail trade and that of the regional peculiarities of Ukrainian consumers’ preferences can serve as future research perspectives in this direction.

The article reveals the main trends in the development of retail chains in the perfume and cosmetics market of Ukraine, highlights the activities of the largest drogerie chains (market leaders in perfumes and cosmetics identified as Eva, Watsons, Prostor and Cosmo, last two merged in 2020 in one chain). The main trends that influence the formation of marketing sales marketing strategies and the main aspects of the development of retail chains of the perfume and cosmetics market were analyzed; the directions of development and use of marketing sales channels were identified. It has been found that, despite engrafted omnichannel elements, drogerie chains do not use all marketing channels, which reduces the effectiveness of marketing efforts. A comparison of development rate of the world and domestic markets of perfume and cosmetics is made. According to statistics, the growth of the Ukrainian market is steady, not ahead of world indicators. The Ukrainian cosmetics market during 2009–2020 shows an upward trend, during these years the growth rate ranges from 2% (the lowest value is observed in 2011) to 3.8% (in 2019) ergo the industry is developing, the demand for cosmetic products is growing. Starting from 2019 a significant part of the market gained by Makeup.ua, an online cosmetics store without any traditional store. None of the perfume and cosmetics chains, national or international with large chain of stores, exceeded 0.5% of the Ukrainian market in 2019 and 2020. So, the leaders are set: 2 national drogerie chains, one international and one online store. It is proposed to introduce a systematic approach in retail chain marketing channel strategy, which in contrast to the existing ones considers the specific features of the retail chain. This approach allows determining the need for the formation of new marketing channels or optimization of existing ones to increase the effectiveness of marketing sales strategy of the retail chain. Analysis of statistical data on retail trade turnover of Ukraine by regions and categories of goods allowed determining regions and cities of concentration of retail enterprises. It has been established that consumers of perfumes and cosmetics in Ukraine prefer to buy in physical stores, but channels such as online store and applications double the turnover annually due to the development of technology, mobile communication and reducing consumer distrust of virtual channels sales.

Abstract. Workplace ostracism, conceived as to being ignored or excluded by others, has attracted the attention of researchers in recent years. One essential topic in this area is how to reduce or even eliminate the negative consequences of workplace ostracism. Based on conservation of resources (COR) theory, the current study assesses the relationship between workplace ostracism and its negative outcomes, as well as the moderating role played by psychological capital, using data collected from 256 employees in three companies in the northern part of China. The study yields two important findings: (1) workplace ostracism is positively related to intention to leave and (2) psychological capital moderates the effect of workplace ostracism on affective commitment and intention to leave. This paper concludes by discussing the implications of these findings for organizations and employees, along with recommendations for future research.

There may be so many negative consequences of stress for human beings and dissatisfaction among employees happens to be one of the major problems. It indicates negative feelings that individuals have regarding their jobs or its facets. On the other hand, social support is assumed to be mitigating the relationship between negative aspects of the work environment and job satisfaction. Job stress is said to be associated with job dissatisfaction as well as experience of strain. In view of the above, this study examined the role of job stress and social support in job satisfaction. The sample consisted of 30 school teachers from different school of Varanasi (U.P.). The job stress, job satisfaction and social support scales were administered on the participants. The responses of the participants were converted into scores for statistical analyses. The scores of participants on the scales were correlated. The findings revealed that job stress led to increased job satisfaction. It is against the proposed hypothesis and it appears as if the social support received by the participants is a factor behind it. Two of the four dimensions of social support were found to exert positive impact on job satisfaction but the other two dimensions were not found to be correlated with it. The findings are thoroughly discussed and interpreted.

The purpose of this study was to explore recreational prescription drug use among undergraduate students. Although anecdotal accounts on this subject abound, empirical research is extremely limited. Data from a survey of a random sample of 734 students at a large public research university in the Northeast were examined. Results indicate that a substantial proportion of students reported having used prescription drugs for recreational purposes in the year prior to survey administration. Recreational prescription drug use was positively associated with the use of other substances including alcohol. Recreational prescription drug users were also more likely than other drug users to report negative consequences as a result of their drug use. Implications for future research and for student affairs are discussed.

Within the anamnesis, medical information is frequently withheld, incomplete, or incorrect, potentially causing negative consequences for the patient. The use of conversational agents (CAs), computer-based systems using natural language to interact with humans, may mitigate this problem. The present research examines whether CAs differ from physicians in their ability to elicit truthful disclosure and discourage concealment of medical information. We conducted an online questionnaire with German participants ( N = 148) to assess their willingness to reveal medical information. The results indicate that patients would rather disclose medical information to a physician than to a CA; there was no difference in the tendency to conceal information. This research offers a frame of reference for future research on applying CAs during the anamnesis to support physicians. From a practical view, physicians might gain better understanding of how the use of CAs can facilitate the anamnesis.

Many people are aware of the negative consequences of plastic use on the environment. Nevertheless, they use plastic due to its functionality. In the present paper, we hypothesized that this leads to the experience of ambivalence—the simultaneous existence of positive and negative evaluations of plastic. In two studies, we found that participants showed greater ambivalence toward plastic packed food than unpacked food. Moreover, they rated plastic packed food less favorably than unpacked food in response evaluations. In Study 2, we tested whether one-sided (only positive vs. only negative) information interventions could effectively influence ambivalence. Results showed that ambivalence is resistant to (social) influence. Directions for future research were discussed.

Biocompatible nanoparticles (NPs) containing polymers, lipids (liposomes and micelles), dendrimers, ferritin, carbon nanotubes, quantum dots, ceramic, magnetic materials, and gold/silver have contributed to imaging diagnosis and targeted cancer therapy. However, only some NP drugs, including Doxil® (liposome-encapsulated doxorubicin), Abraxane® (albumin-bound paclitaxel), and Oncaspar® (PEG-Asparaginase), have emerged on the pharmaceutical market to date. By contrast, several phytochemicals that were found to be effective in cultured cancer cells and animal studies have not shown significant efficacy in humans due to poor bioavailability and absorption, rapid clearance, resistance, and toxicity. Research to overcome these drawbacks by using phytochemical NPs remains in the early stages of clinical translation. Thus, in the current review, we discuss the progress in nanotechnology, research milestones, the molecular mechanisms of phytochemicals encapsulated in NPs, and clinical implications. Several challenges that must be overcome and future research perspectives are also described.

It is a common assumption that children with disabilities are more likely to experience victimization than their peers without disabilities. However, there is a paucity of robust research supporting this assumption in the current literature. In response to this need, we conducted a logistic regression analysis using a national dataset of responses from 26,572 parents/caregivers to children with and without disabilities across all 50 states, plus the District of Columbia. The purpose of our study was to acquire a greater understanding of the odds of victimization among children with and without intellectual disability (ID), while controlling for several child and parent/adult demographic correlates. Most notably, our study revealed that children with ID have 2.84 times greater odds of experiencing victimization than children without disabilities, after adjusting for the other predictors in the model. Implications for future research and practice are discussed.
