Every day we are moving toward digitalization and computerization. In education and especially online learning, we are observing fast developments. The need of a digital curriculum and digital literacy for better teaching and learning is sensible. Thus, a digital literacy curriculum is a necessary tool for teachers and students. This qualitative study explored some components of the digital literacy curriculum based on EFL and IT instructors’ voice. Also, the researchers found digital tools that they used a lot and their purposes behind applying these digital tools. The results show that EFL and IT instructors had focused on production, communication, evaluation of digital skills in cyberspace. Most of them were aware of digital literacy definition and suggested some components of the digital literacy definition components and suggested designing a digital literacy curriculum. Among all digital tools, they used WhatsApp and Bigbluebutton more. Based on all retrieved data, the researchers proposed a digital literacy curriculum framework and identified the need for further study about applying this framework in real life. Doing need analysis before designing a digital literacy curriculum to know students' and teachers' digital talent and awareness is another area that further research should have done.

The background of this study was more specifically related to the contextual approach: linking science with daily life, which could help improve students’ understanding on aqidah/creed materials, their ability to think, and their learning experiences. Thus, the students could implement them in real life. The study conducted in Class X of MAN Model Banda Aceh, aimed at investigating the implementation of the contextual approach, the application of the contextual approach which could increase the understanding of the Aqidah concept, and the understanding of Aqidah concept of the students taught using the contextual approach and the conventional approach. The research employed quantitative descriptive with quasi experimental method. Data were collected by essay pretest and essay posttest, teachers’ and students’ observation, and documentation. The research findings showed that the implementation of the contextual approach on aqidah learning covered the scope of Aqidah Islam and sub-materials such as the definitions, and the principles of aqidah. The learning method of aqidah included using seven components of the contextual approach: constructivism, inquiry, modeling, frequently asked questions, group learning, modeling, and real judgment. The teaching and learning activities were carried out through discussions in accordance with the lesson plans. Further, the observation analysis of the teachers’ ability level (TKG) showed that the descriptive statistics of the teaching activity was 4.51≤TKG t1-α or 15.38> 1.6923, making Ho rejected and Ha accepted. It can be meant that the students’ posttest was better that the pretest. Moreover, the learning outcomes of the aqidah learning of the students of Class X IPA 2 and Class X IPA 5 reflected that those taught with the contextual outperformed those with the conventional learning, as shown here based on the significance level α = 0.05 and degree of freedom (df) = 66. The ttable obtained was t_(0,975)(66) = 1.997 so that tcount < ttable (0.59 µ2 was accepted.

The purpose of this chapter is to identify and offer solutions based on four barriers to facilitating 21st century competencies through digitalization. The first barrier includes the technological challenges faced by families, including devices and reliable broadband internet. The second barrier explores the training and support needed by teachers in implementing digital tools and instructional technology. The third barrier is a pedagogical shift from teacher-centered to student-centered teaching and learning, especially in remote environments where this approach is needed for student engagement. The fourth barrier is training for parents and families to become familiar with the technology and digital tools that their children are using. Practical solutions backed by research are presented by the author for consideration by teachers, administrators, and the school community. Prompts for reflection and discussion based on identified barriers and real-life examples are presented by the author at the conclusion of the chapter.

During hurricane season, maps that track predicted storm paths are commonly seen on television and the Internet. The Weather Channel often receives number-one viewership ratings in regions encountering a major weather event, such as a hurricane or tornado (Kloer 2001). Mathematics teachers can tap into students' curiosity and interest about hurricanes to develop their understanding of mathematical ideas within a real-life context. In this article, we discuss observations and findings after implementing mathematics tasks based on data about hurricanes. Finding patterns and relationships, creating and interpreting graphs, and examining rates of change are just a few of the topics that can be studied. We developed these tasks as part of the Students' Transition Toward Algebra project and have used them with both middle school teachers and students.

The digitalization of societies, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, is an unstoppable process. This paper seeks to answer the question: what post-COVID-19 digital competences are needed for a sustainable society? It also aims to analyze the digitalization processes in education for shaping a sustainable digital society. A bibliographic search was performed on some of the most relevant international databases of scientific literature and the selected documents were analyzed through a content analysis. It is concluded that digital education has experienced a strong increase, reinforced by COVID-19, shaping the digital presence in all dimensions of life. However, it is not sufficient to assume that the new generations are naturally engaged in and can master digital social sustainability. The results demonstrate the importance of literacy and the unavoidable promotion of sustainability in a digital society. However, this digitalization of the educational process poses several challenges: it requires both software and hardware conditions, as well as digital literacy as a result of a complex of literacies. It also implies that teachers and students change their standpoints and practices with the attainment of new teaching and learning competences in order to fight the digital divide and to foster the widest possible social inclusion for the promotion of sustainable society—digitainability.

Technology is now becoming an unavoidable part of Indonesian students’ life. The application of digital tools have facilitated the students to expand their knowledge and develop their learning. At the same time, it helps to plant learning autonomy toward the students. This paper aimed to explore the teachers’ experiences in applying the digital assessment by using in- depth interview and classroom observation. The teachers can gain a lot of advantages by applying the digital assessment in their teaching and learning activities. It saves a lot of teachers’ time, it breaks the barriers between teachers and students in terms of meeting time and at the same time it also helps to reduce students’ anxiety during the assessment. However, during the application of the digital assessment there were several difficulties faced by the teachers, namely the internet connection, the misconception among the students because the students did not comprehend well regarding the teachers’ feedback as well as there may be a possibility for the students to cheat during the assessment since they can do it anywhere not only in the campus. The teachers’ mastery in technology indirectly can also help the development of Indonesia’s education system.

In supporting learning for Deaf or Hard of Hearing/DHH children, it is not easy finding learning sources that are accessible online, especially in English. Furthermore, during the COVID-19 pandemic, when learning was required to be carried out online, there were no learning applications that included English sign language that could be used by teachers and students as learning media. Thus, this study aims to analyze the need for developing multimedia-based English learning materials for Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH) children. This qualitative study involved DHH students and instructors in Special School (SLB), Bali. The need analysis was conducted to identify the ongoing situation of DHH children in the context of developing English multimedia learning materials. Interview and observation techniques applying two types of instruments in the form of an interview guide and field notes were used to collect the information towards the English learning needs for DHH children. The results of the study identified several needs that underlie the development of English multimedia learning materials, namely inadequate English instructors, text-based teaching materials, and the less than optimal teaching and learning process during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the development of multimedia-based English learning materials is needed.

Curriculum is the basic tool used in the pedagogical process. Every education system fails if it is not developed to meet the needs of those for whom it is designed. In this research, it has been observed that the existing National Curriculum for the English Language (2006) is not fulfilling the language-based needs of the Pakistani learners. The intermediate level is the terminal level for students to discontinue education and get a job or continue learning in various advanced fields. The existing theoretical curriculum is different in terms of the practical application of English in a real-life situation. Paulo Freire’s theory of problem-posing education supports the present study. Data was collected through teacher and student questionnaires filled by intermediate students of both the public and private sectors and for the analysis of collected data CIPP model of Stufflebeam was used. For computational analysis, MS Excel was used. The results showed that learners’ creative writing skills and verbal skills are not improving satisfactorily and a gap was also found in teaching methodologies that are being currently used for teaching English. The present study is beneficial for providing the ground realities and practical needs of teachers and students in teaching and learning process. It would be helpful also for the stakeholders while designing the curriculum and syllabus.

The inclusion of online resources and multimedia elements into instruction is often times misunderstood or unknown to teachers who want to design more engaging and interactive learning experiences for their students. This chapter explores the legal and illegal use of images, video, and written sources found online. Examples of ethical uses of online resources will demonstrate how to correctly incorporate and cite resources, apps, and multimedia into ethics-focused lessons. Students can choose from multiple means of demonstrating their knowledge in the collaborative learning experiences. Online resources that will assist teachers and students in the application of ethical and correct application of attribution are identified. These sites are good beginnings to deeper learning about this important component of digital literacy.
