The recent outbreak of Covid-19 as a global pandemic has taken a toll on people worldwide. Based on an article from Malaysiakini, the number of calls to the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) increases significantly everyday indicating the large community who faces emotional and psychological distress during these hard times. Some have even related the situation as claustrophobic events. For creative content creators, claustrophobia can be an attractive story but requires different and complex techniques of presenting it. Therefore, in order to effectively inform amateur filmmakers on claustrophobia, this research focuses on the claustrophobic events portrayed in four nominated or award-winning films which simulates real claustrophobic events. The target audience for this research will be focused on amateur filmmakers and young content makers who are a vessel to help educate audiences on claustrophobia in a right manner. It is important to do a critical analysis on how successfully films have relayed this message to their audience with their visuals alongside with relatable stories and characters. Film has the ability to bring spotlight to claustrophobia for it is a perfect tool of education and definitely for entertainment, escaping from reality. This is supported in a Forbes article where it claims that there is an increased consumption of digital content from mobile apps to movie and music streaming due to the world’s population under lockdown. By studying how films portray the message of claustrophobia, it will help amateur film makers and short film content makers to have further information to relay their message effectively to their audience

India has one of the largest pilgrim traffic in the world as it has large number of sacred and holy sites of different religions. Besides tourism has been a rising industry in India during last few decades thus providing excellent opportunities for pilgrimage tourism until the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus hit the Pilgrim industry. The Covid-19 global pandemic has led to fatal situation and is inextricably affecting the economy of the nation. One such case is of Haridwar “The Gateway to the abode of Gods” in the Uttarakhand state of India. Every year lakhs of devotees visit Haridwar to take bath in the holy river Ganga in order to attain virtue. Haridwar is a famous religious city for the Hindus and it is also attractive to other domestic and foreign tourists because of its marvellous geographic location and physio-cultural tourist resources. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has raised awareness about the recent outbreak and the Government is taking several measures and formulating various concord at both central and state level to prevent the adversities of COVID-19. In this paper, an attempt has been made to highlight how the pandemic has left the pilgrimage industry gasping. The paper also suggests certain measures to cope up the Covid-19 outbreak thus consequently moving the economy of the region.

This chapter explores Eubie’s collaboration with Andy Razaf for the score of Lew Leslie’s Blackbirds of 1930; difficulties of working with Leslie; the show’s poor reception and short run on Broadway; the success of Blake and Razaf’s song, “Memories of You,” and its recording by Ethel Waters and Louis Armstrong; and the show’s troubled life on the road. The chapter further discusses Eubie’s return to working with Fanchon and Marco; Eubie’s breakup with Lottie Gee; his attempts to land work recording and on the radio; the formation of his own big band; the band’s recordings for the small Crown label; and Eubie’s difficulties dealing with his band members. Then the chapter examines Eubie’s appearance in the short film, Pie, Pie, Blackbird, with Nina Mae McKinney and the Nicholas Brothers; his breakup with Broadway Jones; Noble Sissle’s return to the United States and his reunion with Blake; the creation of Shuffle Along of 1933, with a new plot and new songs; and how Eubie briefly worked for W.C. Handy’s publishing company and published a few new songs and instrumentals with Handy.

Abstract Background In December 2019, SARS-CoV-2 or coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) emerged from Wuhan, China. A global pandemic quickly unfolded, infecting >137 million people and causing >2.9 million deaths globally as of April 13, 2021. Before April 1, 2020, there were only five confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nepal. Like many countries around the world, the COVID-19 situation quickly escalated in Nepal. The purpose of this study was to determine the trends in COVID-19 cases and deaths in Nepal from April 2020 to March 2021. Methods We utilized epidemiological data from daily Situation Reports published by the Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP) of Nepal. Data were extracted or calculated from April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021. Primary variables of interest were national and provincial daily cases, total cases, daily deaths, and total deaths. Results Between April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021, there were 277,304 cases. October 2020 had the highest monthly cases with 92,926 cases. During the one-year study period, the infection rate was 915 cases per 100,000 people. The largest single-day new cases was October 21, 2020 with 5,743 cases, which is calculated to 19 cases per 100,000 people. There were a total of 3,030 deaths. The largest daily new deaths was November 4, 2020 with 43 cases. June 10, 2020 had the highest number of people in quarantine with 172,266 people. October 23, 2020 had the highest number of active cases with 46,329 cases. By March 31, 2021, the percent of mortality was 1.1%, active infection was 0.5%, and recovery was 98.4%. Conclusion Nepal had lower COVID-19 infection and case-fatality rates compared to other countries most affected by the pandemic. This was due to several factors, most notably early implementation of strict lockdown measures and closing of international borders on March 24, 2020 after the second confirmed COVID-19 case. As lockdown restrictions were lifted on July 7, 2020, COVID-19 cases and deaths in Nepal rose rapidly. As vaccination begun on January 27, 2021, cases started to slow down until the most recent outbreak coinciding with the second wave in its neighboring country, India. Now, infection and case-fatality rates in Nepal are at an all-time high, prompting further lockdowns on April 29, 2021. Disclosures All Authors: No reported disclosures

Objectives: COVID-19 originated from Wuhan, China, in December 2019, and it spread all over the world, leading to devastating pandemic. This has affected large gatherings of people. As there was lockdown in many countries, elective surgeries like arthroscopy were on hold. Many surgeons were involved in online education. This has helped in developing and achieving the arthroscopy academic content online. We, hereby, put forward our experiences of starting the online education initiative of Indian Arthroscopy Society (IAS). Our objective was to study the response to the IAS webinars and digital contents in view of watch hours, viewerships etc. Materials and Methods: All the data was collected from the analytics of the official YouTube channel. All the digital content including over 100 webinars and 39 video uploads were studied. Results: Total viewers were 88,560. Date-wise average viewers per day were 456.49. The total watch time of all the viewers was 17,539.5015 h (average watch hours were 90.41 h). This also led to around 1,377,647 impressions. There were 100 live webinars and around 39 different arthroscopy videos uploads. Conclusion: Good teamwork among all the members has led to a successful online education initiative, which has supported the need for arthroscopy education in this COVID-19 pandemic. Due to these webinars, the IAS has taken a leap towards the digital education activity and it has positively helped the desiring delegates to update their knowledge, learn, and interact with the leaders in the field of Arthroscopic Surgery, from India and abroad.

In the introduction to this volume, “Michel Gondry as Transcultural Auteur,” editors Marcelline Block and Jennifer Kirby present an overview of Gondry’s career as well as this volume’s approaches to Gondry’s oeuvre. Born in Versailles, France in 1963, Gondry is an Academy Award-winning transnational (France-USA) and transcultural (French-American) auteur whose body of work as a writer, director, and producer spans multiple genres—including feature film, short film, television, documentary, music video, big budget superhero film, romantic comedy, the road movie, advertisements—and languages (English, French, Japanese). In this respect, Gondry can be considered a contemporary globalized auteur whose films and other works display continuities and eclecticism. In addition, this introduction presents an overview of each of this volume’s sections and chapters in terms of how they identify connections and continuities between Gondry’s films while placing Gondry’s oeuvre in dialogue with French and American cinematic traditions and socio-cultural contexts. The introduction puts forth this volume’s main contention, namely that “Gondry is emblematic of transnational auteur filmmaking…crossing aesthetic and cultural borders between national film industries as well as between art and popular cinema and between media” and how Gondry’s oeuvre defies classification according to traditional conceptions of European art cinema.

Digital technologies have redefined how people use audio media, especially for the millennial audience segment. Faced with the challenge from streaming music, many broadcast radio stations have launched their own mobile apps to compete with the new audio services such as Spotify. Guided by the uses and gratifications conceptual framework, this study employed a national survey to investigate millennials’ perceptions of the substitutability and complementarity of broadcast radio, its apps, and music streaming services. The results showed that while radio listeners perceived broadcast radio and its apps as similar products, they regarded music streaming services as distinct from the two. In addition, this study examined motivators behind the diverse perceptions and identified information, escapism, entertainment, and socialization as important. The results suggest that radio stations should take advantage of the mobile technology and offer unique values through their apps, rather than duplicate the offline consumption experience.

SYNTHESIS is a platform of platforms (PoP) for the management, curation, and creation of digital cultural experiences related to cultural heritage material (artifacts), and their visualization through mobile applications and virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) technologies. The digital cultural experiences may relate to specific cultural heritage monuments or exhibits of museum collections and may reside either on site or remotely. The platform provides a comprehensive supervisory tool that allows curators to select digital artifacts from different databases around the topic of interest, associate them through narratives that translate them into a sequence of semantic correlations that can be visualized using VR/AR technologies. The SYNTHESIS of platforms contributes to the creation of a new condition for the promotion of cultural heritage sites, museums, and exhibits, and facilitates the management and interaction of the user-visitor with them. The platform contributes to the creation of an innovative system for the management and curation of large volume of digital material related to an exhibit and consequently its promotion by unifying the stages of: (a) production of digital content; (b) connection of additional digital multimedia material related to the digital content; (c) curation of the digital content and transformation to a digital experience in accordance to a desired narrative; and (d) visualization of the digital experience in-situ or remotely with the use of mobile apps and VR/AR technologies.

AbstractThis paper reports a broad study using epidemic-related counting data of COVID-19 disease caused by the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). The considered dataset refers to 119 countries’ daily counts of reported cases and deaths in a fixed period. For the data analysis, it has been adopted a beta regression model assuming different regions of the world where it was possible to discover important economic, health and social factors affecting the behavior of the pandemic in different countries. The Bayesian method was applied to fit the proposed model. Some interesting conclusions were obtained in this study, which could be of great interest to epidemiologists, health authorities, and the general public in the face of the forthcoming hard times of the global pandemic.

ERIC KHOO was born in 1965 to a well-to-do family in Singapore. According to Khoo, his mother started taking him to the movies at the age of two, developing in him a love for the cinema (delete sentence- repeated in main text). According to Khoo, when he was about eight years old, he (chanced upon) his mother's Super 8 camera, started making "little animated films" on it and has since been unable to put his camera down. Khoo's interest led him to study cinematography at the City Art Institute in Sydney, Australia. Back in Singapore, he began making award-winning short films before venturing into feature film-making. In 1990, Khoo's animated short film, Barbie Digs Joe, won five awards at the Singapore Video Competition and became the first Singapore short film to travel to film festivals abroad. The recent outbreak of betacoronavirus Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which is responsible for the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) global pandemic, has created great challenges in viral diagnosis. The existing methods for nucleic acid detection are of high sensitivity and specificity, but the need for complex sample manipulation and expensive machinery slow down the disease detection. Thus, there is an urgent demand to develop a rapid, inexpensive, and sensitive diagnostic test to aid point-of-care viral detection for disease monitoring. In this study, we developed a clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)-CRISPR associated proteins (Cas) 12a-based diagnostic method that allows the results to be visualized by the naked eye. We also introduced a rapid sample processing method, and when combined with recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA), the sample to result can be achieved in 50 minutes with high sensitivity (1–10 copies per reaction). This accurate and portable detection method holds a great potential for COVID-19 control, especially in areas where specialized equipment is not available.
