Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to determine whether the association between Entrepreneurial Training and Entrepreneurial Intentions is mediated by (1) Entrepreneurial Self-Efficacy, (2) Entrepreneurial Attitude, and (3) whether the first mediation is further mediated by Entrepreneurial Attitude. Design – to attain the study objectives, a cross-sectional and explanatory survey approach was employed. Systematic sampling technique was utilized to collect data from a sample of 458 final-year undergraduate students from two Ugandan public universities. Results – a significant partial mediation effect of Entrepreneurial Self-Efficacy and Entrepreneurial Attitude between Entrepreneurship Training and Entrepreneurial Intentions was established and a mediated mediation effect. Implications – the study provides maiden evidence that Entrepreneurial Training and Entrepreneurial Intentions are significantly and serially mediated by Entrepreneurial Self-Efficacy and Entrepreneurial Attitude. Managers and policymakers may use this study results to further student’s entrepreneurial competencies. Society may also use our results to support entrepreneurial ventures as a vehicle for creating jobs for graduates Originality/value – the novelty of this paper is threefold; it provides evidence on the mediating role of; (1) entrepreneurial self-efficacy, (2) entrepreneurial attitude, and (3) we provide initial evidence on the mediated mediation effect of Entrepreneurial Self-Efficacy and Attitude in the relationship between Entrepreneurial Training and Entrepreneurial Intentions.

Purpose – the study aimed at determining the interactive effect of entrepreneurial attitude and self-efficacy on students’ self-employment intentions. Design/ methodology – to attain the purpose of the study, cross-sectional and explanatory research designs were employed. Systematic sampling technique was utilized to collect data from a sample of 458 undergraduate finalists from Makerere and Kyambogo Universities in Uganda. Data were analyzed using Hayes (2018) Process macro version 3.2 (Model 1) with the help of SPSS version 23 Results – the study indicates that entrepreneurial attitude and self-efficacy significantly and positively influence self-employment intentions. Further, a negative and significant conditional effect of entrepreneurial self-efficacy in the relationship between entrepreneurial attitude and self-employment intentions was established. Implications – theoretically, the study contributes to the extant literature by providing new insights on the interactive effect of entrepreneurial attitude and self-efficacy on students’ self-employment intentions. We also provide practical implications to educators, curriculum developers, and university management in developing appropriate training tools for students driven by first ascertaining their levels of self-efficacy. Originality/value – The study provides new insights on the conditional effect of entrepreneurial self-efficacy in the relationship between entrepreneurial attitude and self-employment intentions.

Background: Early Clinical Exposure is a learning approach that integrates classroom learning with the clinical practice at the students' academic stage. Based on an interview with 3rd-semester Nursing Students, the results showed that they had low self-efficacy and readiness towards early clinical exposure. Objective: This study aims to evaluate self-efficacy and readiness towards early clinical exposure among nursing students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP). The study design was a cross-sectional study involving 218 undergraduate students at a private Islamic university in their third semester. Methods: Data were collected using an online questionnaire of Google Form developed by the researcher, and the questions were valid and reliable based on a reliability test. The sampling method in this study was the total sampling technique. There were 50 questions of the item in the questionnaire and 6 items for demographic data. Result: The majority of pupils showed strong self-efficacy (98.2%) according to the findings of this study and moderate self-efficacy (1.8%). The majority of students presented high readiness (97.7%) and moderate readiness (2.3%). According to the correlation test results, a correlation (r = 0.545, p0.05) was found between self-efficacy and readiness for early clinical exposure. Conclusion: The higher the student's self-efficacy is, the more the readiness will be to face the practice of early clinical exposure.

The entrepreneurial intentions of individuals play a phenomenal role in establishment of new ventures, which in turn facilitates economic development. The study aims to identify the various dimensions of personality traits along with several other precursors of entrepreneurial intentions and investigates impact of the identified factors on entrepreneurial intentions of top five university students in India. The data for research were collected through a structured questionnaire employing a 7-point Likert scale based on purposive sampling technique. The identified constructs considered to be determinants of entrepreneurial intentions were need for achievement, locus of control, risk-taking propensity, innovativeness, self-efficacy, proactiveness, perseverance, entrepreneurial alertness and entrepreneurial attitude. The findings of the study reveal that ‘need for achievement’ was the most significant precursor of entrepreneurial intentions; whereas, ‘entrepreneurial alertness’ and ‘entrepreneurial attitude’ dimensions of personality traits were also found to have a positive correlation with entrepreneurial intentions of university students. Moreover, entrepreneurial alertness partially mediates the relationship between self-efficacy and proactiveness on the one hand and entrepreneurial intentions on the other.

Purpose – The study sought to determine the mediating role of entrepreneurial self-efficacy in the relationship between entrepreneurship education and self-employment intentions. Design – A cross-sectional and explanatory survey approach was employed using a systematic sampling technique. Data were collected from a sample of 458 undergraduate finalists from two Ugandan universities. Results – Results of the study indicate that two predictors significantly influence self-employment intentions. Results also suggest that entrepreneurial self-efficacy partially mediates the relationship between entrepreneurship education and self-employment intentions. Implications – Curriculum developers should develop entrepreneurship curriculum content geared towards stimulation of self-employment intentions among learners via entrepreneurial self-efficacy. Second, educational and economic policymakers should design policies and programs like startup capital to enable graduates to realize their self-employment intentions. Originality/value – The study provides initial evidence on the mediating effect of entrepreneurial self-efficacy between entrepreneurship education and self-employment intentions.

Women entrepreneurs have attracted the attention of organizations, policy makers and researchers as they have been identified as an important unexploited source of economic growth and development. The objective of this research is to contribute knowledge about women entrepreneurship in Nigeria and their motivations for entrepreneurship especially on MSMEs level. An empirical survey was conducted with cross-sectional data collected via questionnaire from 422 selected women respondents in six states each representing a geo-political zone in Nigeria using stratified sampling technique. Respondents are engaged in micro, small or medium enterprises in Nigeria. The study results provide strong determinant of women entrepreneurship in Nigeria. The Structural Equation Model (SEM) was employed as tools for testing hypotheses using SmartPLS 2. Findings revealed that the determinant of women entrepreneurship varies by life experiences and country. The study further discovered that a lot of women were motivated by the need for survival, family traits, education and skills, independence and need for achievement respectively in Nigeria. The study recommended that the Nigerian government should encourage women more in entrepreneurial activities and provide sound conducive business environment for women through provision of infrastructural facilities such as entrepreneurial training and skills, finance, infrastructures and credit facilities that will enhance women’s participation more in business.

Background: Self efficacy can optimize the quality of life of clients who undergo the healing process due to chronic diseases. Individuals with higher self-efficacy move their personal and social resources proactively to maintain and improve the quality and length of their lives so that they experience a better quality of life. Objectives: the purpose of this study was to find the correlation between self efficacy and quality of life of patients with chronic kidney disease who undergo hemodialysis at RSUD Semarang Regency. Metode: This type of research was descriptive correlation with cross sectional approach. The samples in this study more 76 people with total sampling technique. The data collection tool for self efficacy was measured by General Self-Efficacy scale, for quality of life with WHOQoL-BREF. Statistical test used Kolmogorov-smirnov. Result: The result showed that self efficacy in patients with chronic kidney disease was mostly in moderate category (53,9%), quality of life in patients with chronic kidney disease was mostly in good category (68,4%). There was a correlation between self efficacy and quality of life of patients with chronic kidney disease who undergo hemodialysis at RSUD Semarang Regency, the result obtained p-value of 0.000 <α (0,05). Suggestion: Patients with chronic kidney disease can maintain good quality of life by helping to generate positive self-esteem and high self efficacy.

Abstract Background Due to differing assessment systems across UK medical schools, making meaningful cross-school comparisons on undergraduate students’ performance in knowledge tests is difficult. Ahead of the introduction of a national licensing assessment in the UK, we evaluate schools’ performances on a shared pool of “common content” knowledge test items to compare candidates at different schools and evaluate whether they would pass under different standard setting regimes. Such information can then help develop a cross-school consensus on standard setting shared content. Methods We undertook a cross-sectional study in the academic sessions 2016-17 and 2017-18. Sixty “best of five” multiple choice ‘common content’ items were delivered each year, with five used in both years. In 2016-17 30 (of 31 eligible) medical schools undertook a mean of 52.6 items with 7,177 participants. In 2017-18 the same 30 medical schools undertook a mean of 52.8 items with 7,165 participants, creating a full sample of 14,342 medical students sitting common content prior to graduation. Using mean scores, we compared performance across items and carried out a “like-for-like” comparison of schools who used the same set of items then modelled the impact of different passing standards on these schools. Results Schools varied substantially on candidate total score. Schools differed in their performance with large (Cohen’s d around 1) effects. A passing standard that would see 5 % of candidates at high scoring schools fail left low-scoring schools with fail rates of up to 40 %, whereas a passing standard that would see 5 % of candidates at low scoring schools fail would see virtually no candidates from high scoring schools fail. Conclusions Candidates at different schools exhibited significant differences in scores in two separate sittings. Performance varied by enough that standards that produce realistic fail rates in one medical school may produce substantially different pass rates in other medical schools – despite identical content and the candidates being governed by the same regulator. Regardless of which hypothetical standards are “correct” as judged by experts, large institutional differences in pass rates must be explored and understood by medical educators before shared standards are applied. The study results can assist cross-school groups in developing a consensus on standard setting future licensing assessment.

Abstract Introduction Academic stress and study habits are crucial indicators of academic success. At the moment, faulty study habits press on the students into academic stress. The present study was conducted to identify the academic stress and study habits of university students of health science. Methods This cross-sectional descriptive survey was conducted among 150 undergraduate students of nursing, physiotherapy, and pharmacy (n = 50 in each group). A stratified random sampling technique was used to select the study participants. The information on academic stress and study habits was collected by using the Student Stress Inventory and Palsane and Sharma Study Habit Inventory, respectively. Results Mean score of academic stress was found to be 75.353 ± 16.463. Pharmacy students had a higher level of stress compared to physiotherapy and nursing students (p = 0.013). Furthermore, the prevalence of unsatisfactory study habits among undergraduate students was 72%, with a mean score of 52.7 ± 9.152. Also, nursing students had a higher level of study habits compared to physiotherapy and pharmacy Students. There was no significant relationship found between study habits and academic stress (r = −0.048, p = 0.557). There was a significant association found between study habits and gender (p = 0.021), as well the association found between stress level and course type, Pre-University Course percentage, and first-year percentage (p = 0.044, 0.04, and 0.044 respectively). Conclusion Academic stress and poor study habits are prevalent among undergraduate students. This indicates strategies need to be formed to enhance healthy study habits and alleviate the academic stress of the students, mainly in professional courses; it is an urgent need.

Background: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) cases increased by 776 cases from the previous year based on data from Abdul Wahab Sjahranie Regional Hospital. There are many changes that occur in the life of people with type 2 diabetes, such as stress, anxiety, anger, and feeling useless. These problems can be minimized if the patient also has the knowledge and ability as well as good self-efficacy to manage the disease by doing self-care. Aim: To analyze the factors associated with the self-efficacy of type 2 DM patients. Methods: a quantitative study with a cross sectional approach. The purposive sampling technique for Type 2 DM patients at Abdul Wahab Sjahranie Hospital Samarinda, totaling 60 respondents from September-October 2018. Results: showed a significant relationship between duration of suffering and self-efficacy of DM patients with a p value <0.001, and there was no significant relationship between age, sex, education level, knowledge, motivation and self-efficacy with a p value> 0.001. Conclusion: The duration of type 2 diabetes is related to the patient's self-efficacy ability.

Background Binge drinking is a pattern of harmful use of alcohol and it is defined as four drinks for women and five drinks for men in about 2 hours. This behavior causes public health problems like damaging different body organs. Objective To assess binge drinking and associated factors among Bahir Dar University students in Northwest Ethiopia. Method A cross sectional study was conducted in November 2017. Systematic sampling technique was used to select 422 participants. Structured questionnaire was used to collect data. Linear and Logistic regression models were used to predict the role of explanatory variables on behavioral intention and binge drinking, respectively. Independent variables with a p-value of <0.05 at 95% confidence interval were considered as statistically significant in the final model. Result A total of 413 students participated in this study and 33.4%(95% CI: 28.3–38.9) were engaged in binge drinking. Experiential attitude, instrumental attitude, and self-efficacy were found to be significant predictors of intention to binge drinking (p<0.05). Experiential attitude, environmental constraint, injunctive norm, and knowledge predictors were significantly associated with binge drinking (p<0.05). Conclusion Our study indicated that one-third of the students practiced binge drinking. This behavior was associated with experiential attitude, injunctive norm, environmental constraints, and knowledge factors. Additionally, experiential attitude, instrumental attitude, and self-efficacy constructs had explained behavioral intention. This implies focusing on the abovementioned determinant factors is imperative while designing intervention strategy.
