The purpose of the study was  to investigate the EFL teachers’ perceptions concerning the textbook of “Think Globally Act Locally” on these criteria: (1) physical and utilitarian attributes, (2) efficient outlay of objectives and supplementary material, (3) learning- teaching content, (4) language skills and aspects. Thirty two EFL teachers of junior high school participated in this study. The instrument consisted of questionnaire and interview. Results indicated that in physical and utilitarian attributes, this textbook was perceived as ‘Good’, in efficient outlay and supplementary materials was perceived as   ‘Fair’,   in learning-teaching content was perceived as ‘Fair’,  and in language skills and aspects was perceived  as  ‘Fair’.  Overall,  this  textbook  was  perceived  as ‘Fair’.  It  still  needs improvement in several aspects. The illustrations should be more natural. The mistakes in this textbook should be corrected. Teaching aids like audio materials (cassette/CD), posters, and flashcards, need to accompany this textbook. The exercises should be varied. New word list and glossary should  be provided to support vocabulary building and reading   skill.   Finally,   authentic   audio   material   like   cassette/CD   and   phonetic transcriptions for each new word should be available for listening and pronunciation practice.

This paper looks into what Junior High School learners think of the Web 2.0 tool “Storyboard” for digital story telling purposes and investigates the extent to which it can enhance their receptive and productive skills of reading and writing in the English language. Fifty one randomly selected students, who created a digital story based on a relevant instructive scenario, and their teachers took part in the research. The quantitatively analyzed teachers’ and students’ interviews results and learners’ post-tests data revealed that the tool is considered very motivating and useful increasing learners’ aforementioned English language skills. As learners and teachers indicate “Storyboard” has offered them moments of happiness and joy during their school activities and made their lesson creative and interesting.

This study revealed the perception of cultural arts teachers on the local Javanese wayang kulit purwa media to instilling students’ character values through learning art and culture at junior high school levels throughout the great Solo (Solo Raya) area. There is a previous assumption that wayang kulit purwa has only been performed at general public beyond formal school institutions such as junior high schools. Meanwhile, in instilling the values of character education, the teachers indicated through the subjects taught, the results showed that they were still found to be limited to formal media. This study reflects its own specific points, this is because the teaching aids used are the Purwa puppet media. This study was carried out by applying a survey to 69 cultural arts teachers who were selected purposively in all areas of Solo Raya covering 7 (seven) regencies / municipalities. The technique applied in collecting data is through questionnaires and interview techniques. To analyze the data, an interactive model is used which includes the initial steps of data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results showed that most cultural arts teachers had positive and negative perceptions of wayang kulit purwa if it was used as a medium of learning and planting character education for students at junior high school level. However, most of the cultural arts teachers who have had a graduate education have positive perceptions. Because wayang kulit purwa reflects moral, socio-cultural values, character education as well as patriotism

This research is conducted on the basis of the importance of factors to respond to the rules of the language in supporting the effectiveness of the achievement of Indonesian language proficiency on educators. This research is conducted to prove whether there is a correlation between the activities of responding to the language rules with the language skills on the teacher of junior high school level. This research uses correlational quantitative approach. With the number of respondents 70 educators. Data collection activities were conducted using (1) questionnaires in the form of questions about language rules and (2) Indonesian language proficiency test. From the results of correlation coefficients with SPSS program data analysis process about the correlation between the proficiency of responding the rules of language with the language skills of Indonesia by using the formula of multiple correlation coefficient (multiple corelation). Correlation of proficiency respond to Indonesian rule with correlation attitude of language of educator level junior high school in Medan that is equal to 0,221. The value of 0.221 shows a weak correlation between the proficiency of responding to Indonesian rules with the correlation of language attitudes of junior high school educators in Medan City Still weak.

This study was conducted to find out the description of the evaluation of the performance of Unesa Labschool Junior High School Kawung teachers in terms of pedagogical and professional competencies. The method used is qualitative research because it aims to obtain in-depth data and information, so that the goal of knowing and evaluating teacher performance can be achieved. This type of research is an evaluative research, that is, research to look for gaps between real conditions and expectations as determined by existing standards.Subjects in this study were the principal, teachers and students of Unesa Labschool Junior High School Kawung.This study was conducted in the odd semester of the 2019-2020 school year. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and documents. The data analysis technique used in this study was an interactive analysis model consisting of three components, namely data reduction, triangulation, data presentation and conclusion making. The results of this study indicate that teacher performance viewed from pedagogical competencies has generally run well and accorded to the academic qualifications and teacher’s competency standards set by the government. However, the weaknesses of teachers that are still very visible are in creativity in the application of learning both methods and strategies, or in making learning media to support teaching and learning activities. Furthermore, the use of technology is still low and most teachers still use conventional methods in teaching. Whereas teacher performance in terms of professional competence is still not in accordance with academic qualification standards and teacher competencies set by the government. There are still weaknesses in the development of creativity related to media or teaching aids that support learning. In addition, the low implementation of Classroom Action Research (CAR) serves to improve the professionalism of teachers themselves. And the last is the utilization of information and communication technology for personal development that has not been maximized.

Integrated Skills Approach (henceforth ISA) is valuably considered to practice all language skills simultaneously with wide and various activities offered to expose learners to the real communicative purpose. This research aims to find out teachers’ perceptions of challenges and coping strategies in implementing ISA at their respective schools. The research participants were chosen by using purposive sampling, in which the information towards six English teachers from different Senior High School in Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar by using unstructured interviews. The findings revealed that generally, most teachers had positive perceptions towards ISA. Only one teacher’s face constrains in applying ISA. Furthermore, the teachers also faced challenges in applying integrated skills approach in the classroom, those are; students’ lack of vocabulary, school environment and facilities, and teachers’ difficulties in designing activity/material. Nevertheless, the teachers have their strategies to cope with those challenges such as; enriching vocabulary through flashcards, grouping students randomly, preparing their own material and equipment, motivating them by giving interesting short movies and games and expanding their knowledge more about integrated skills approach.

Teachers hold a very crucial role in education. Students’ success in academic life is very much influenced by teachers’ quality. One of the ways applied by most schools in Indonesia to assure their teachers quality is by conducting supervision program at the end or in the middle of semester. This study investigated teachers’ perception on the effectiveness of supervision program in relation to their professional development. This qualitative case study involved 4 EFL teachers teaching at various school levels; elementary school, junior high school and senior high school. The data were collected through interview and document analysis. The result of data analysis revealed that teachers hold positive attitude toward supervision program in helping them develop their professionalism in teaching. Schools need to maintain supervision program to make sure their teachers are well prepared in performing their duty. The participating teachers suggested for its meaningfulness, supervision program should be well designed. Teachers being observed and supervisor should have the same educational background.
