The objective of this study is to find out whether Mind Mapping is effective or not in improving students’ ability in writing tourism brochures at SMA 20 Batam. This study is limited on writing tourism brochure for tenth grade students at SMA Negeri 20 Batam in Academic year 2017/2018. The study was designed by the writer by using true experimental design (pre-test and post-test control group). The population of the study were tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 20 Batam academic year 2017/2018. There were eight classes of tenth grade students with the total number 300 students. The samples of this study were two classes which consist of 30 students in experiment class and 30 students in control class. The instrument of this study was written test. The data analysis was used Independent Samples Test on IBM SPSS statistics 20 to perform T-test. The result showed that the Sig.(2-tailed) of students’ pre-test and post-test in experimental was 0.401 and standard significance level was 0.05. By comparing the Sig.(2-tailed) and standard  significance level, it was known that Sig.(2-tailed) was bigger than standard significance level (0.401 > 0.05). It means there was no significant difference in writing tourism brochure before and after taught by using Mind Mapping in experimental class. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was rejected and the null hypothesis (Ho) was accepted. The conclusion of Mind Mapping was not given significant effect in improving students’ ability in writing tourism brochure.

This study investigated the effect of the brainstorming technique to Increase Students’ Writing Skill at the Tenth Grade of MA YPI Darul Huda Lubuk Harjo. The objective of the study was to find and describe whether there any significant difference between students who are taught by using brainstorming techniques and the students who are taught by using the conventional technique to teach writing skills at the tenth grade of MA YPI Darul Huda Lubuk Harjo. Therefore, for this study writer used quasi-experimental design as the method. The population was 158 and for sample 58 students, a sample of this study used purposive sampling. In this study, the writer was collecting the data used a written test as an instrument, and it was analyzed by an Independent t-test using SPSS 16, the result showed that t –obtained was higher than t table  (6,573  >2.000), and the value of sig (2 tailed) =0.00 less than the value significance level (0,05). It meant that there were no significant differences between the experimental group and the control group. So, the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and Null Hypothesis was rejected. It can be concluded that Brainstorming Technique was significant to increase students’ writing skills at the tenth grade of MA YPI Darul Huda Lubuk Harjo.

The objective of this study is to find the use of mind mapping on improving students’ writing ability, especially for biographical recount text at the tenthgrade students of SMAN 7 Kota Tangerang in the academic year of 2018/2019.The sample of this study were 35 students. This study used quantitative method with pre – experimental design by using one group pre –test and post – test. The result of the research shows that there is a significant difference in student’s writing ability between tenth grade students of SMAN 7 Kota Tangerang before and after taught using the mind mapping technique. It can be seen in the result of the study, the average pre – test score of experiment class students is 68.26 and the average post – test score of experiment class students is 85.40. It means that there is a significant difference in students’ writing ability between tenth grade students of SMAN 7 Kota Tangerang before and after taught using the mind mapping technique. The research hypothesis is proven that using mind mapping technique in teaching writing especially in recount text makes the students’ writing score higher.

The thesis entitled “The Influence of Using PLEASE (Pick, List, Evaluate, Activate, Supply And End) Strategy Toward Student’s Writing Achievement on Recount Text at The Tenth Grade of SMA Pangudi Luhur Sukaraja”. The problem of this study as follows “Is there any significant differences between the students who are taught by using the PLEASE strategy and who are not taught by using the PLEASE strategy toward student’s writing achievement on recount text at the tenth grade of SMA Pangudi Luhur Sukaraja?”. In this study, the writer used a quasi-experimental design. The population in this study was the tenth-grade students of SMA Pangudi Luhur Sukaraja, with the total of the population was 64 students. Whereas, the sample of the study was 40 students were taken by using purposive sampling, those were 20 students of X IPS1 as experimental group and 20 students of X IPS2 as the control group. Moreover, the writer used a written test. The data obtained from Independent t-test analysis, between the result of the post-test in experimental class and control class. Based on the calculation by using an Independent t-test, the researcher found that tobtained was higher than ttable (6.211> 1.697) at the significance level ɑ = 0.05 in a two-tailed test. So, the Null Hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) was accepted.  It can be concluded that there was any significant difference in teaching writing by using PLEASE Strategy in SMA Pangudi Luhur.

Vocabulary considered one of the important things to learn for students, the vocabulary is basic thing that students must be mastered in foreign language lessons, especially in English. Without vocabulary students will have difficulty in mastering skills in English such as writing, reading, listening and speaking.  Therefore, it is very important to find out the solution to enhance students’ vocabulary. The objective of the research is to find out whether or not using Jumbled letters can improve the students vocabulary of the tenth grade students in MAN 2 Barru and to find out whether or not using Crossword puzzle can improve the students vocabulary of the tenth grade students in MAN 2 Barru. This research applied quasi-experimental group design with two groups experimental and control class. The population of this research was the tenth grade students of MAN 2 Barru in academic year 2018/2019. The Total sample of the research was taken by using clustering random sampling which consisted of 141 students. From two classes taken from the population of the tenth grade students of MAN 2 Barru, X MIA 1 as the experimental class consisted 29 students and X MIA 3 as the control class that consisted 29 students. The result of the data analysis showed that there was a significant difference of students’ vocabulary before and after teaching vocabulary through jumbled word letters. The value of t-test pre-test 2.09 was higher than t-table 2.000, and the value of post-test 4.62 was higher than t-table 2.000, at the level significance a =0.05 and degree of freedom (df) = 56. It can be concluded that jumbled word letters can enhance the vocabulary of the tenth grade students’ of MAN 2 Barru

This research is a study of improving students’ ability in reading comprehension. The aim was to find out whether the use of Herringbone technique would bring a significant difference in teaching reading comprehension through Recount text, compared with the result before the students being treated. The study was conducted in the tenth grade students of SMA N 4 Pematangsiantar. The research method used was the experimental design, where the Experimental group was the PMIA 3 class, and the PMIA 2 class as the control class. Both of the classes had 34 students in each of it. The data were obtained through pre-test, treatment and post test. The pre-test was held to know the students’ basic ability or score before treatment was given. Meanwhile, the post test was held to know the students’ achievement and significant effect after the students were taught using Herringbone technique. Finding of the research showed that both groups had a significant improvement in their reading ability after being treated and passed the KKM. The Control group, which the pre-test score was 60, made an improvement shown in their post-test score in amount of 70,44. The experimental group, the group which the researcher treated the Herringbone technique to them, had a higher improvement than the control group. The average score of pre-test in this group was about 54,41 where then being improved up to 78,97. The score of t-test (3,981) was higher than t-table (1,668) at the level of significance 5% for two tailed test, so Null Hypothesis is rejected and Alternative Hypothesis is accepted.

This research was intended to analyze the effect of mind mapping towards students writing skill at the second semester students of FPBS IKIP Mataram in academic year 2015/2016. This study was quasi experimental research, where the sample was cluster randomly selected with the total number of sample was 65 students which were divided into 2 classes; 29 students were in the control group and there were 36 students belong to experimental group. In order to collect the research data, the writer used writing test to comprehend the students’ ability in managing text based on mind mapping concept. After the data was obtained, then it was analyzed by applying descriptive statistical analysis and inferential analysis. Regarding to the data analysis it was found that the students’ ability before treatment was 69.72 in the significant level 95%. On post-test data analysis, the students mean writing ability increased into 77.22. The inferential analysis or hypothesis testing also proved that the t-test was higher than t-table in the significant level 95% (α =0.05) and degree of freedom 63 (4.158 > 2.000) with ρ value (sig.) 0.00 < 0.05. It was clearly claimed that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) which stated that mind-mapping was effective towards students writing at second semester students of FPBS IKIP Mataram in academic year 2015/2016 was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) that said main-mapping is not effective toward students writing at second semester students of FPBS IKIP Mataram in academic year 2015/2016 was rejected. Those data evidently proved that mind mapping was effective towards students writing especially at second semester students of FPBS IKIP Mataram in academic year 2015/2016.

This study aimed to determine the effect of student learning outcomes by applying the learningmodel Think Pair Share (TPS) on the archipelago song class VIII-I in SMP YP PembangunanGalang of the Academic Year 2016/2017.This type of research is True experimental design with pretest-Psottest Control GroupDesign. The population in the study were all second semester VIII class consisting of 3 classes.Sampling was done by random sampling. Sample chosen is a class VIII-I as the experimental classlearning model Think Pair Share, amounting to 30 people and VIII-II as a control group withconventional learning models which amounted to 32 people. The instrument used in this studyused multiple-choice test of 25 questions with four possible answers that have validator. Thestatistics are used to test the hypothesis of this study is to test t, As a prerequisite test used to testthe normality and homogeneity.Based on the post-test and analysis of data obtained an average value of 78.26experimental group and the average value of the control group 66. From the results of hypothesistesting, it turns out the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Testing the hypothesis in researchusing hypothesis testing t-test two parties and of the calculation of the statistics obtained by value t= 4.60 t the next price compared to the price ttabel with significance level of 5% was obtainedtable = 2.0 then t ≥ t table or - t ≤ - t table is ≥ 2.0 or -4.60 4.60 ≤ -2.0. Then the results of testinghypothesis Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted.Based on data analysis and discussion of the results of hypothesis testing, theconclusion of this study was no significant difference in the use of learning model Think PairShare (TPS) to the learning outcomes obtained by students on track archipelago VIII-I in SMP YPPembangunan Galang of the Academic Year 2016/2017.

Vocabulary is a knowledge of words and word meanings. To increase the student’s vocabulary, the writer chosen game. A game is an alternative way to teach. One of the alternative games is a charades game. So, based on it the aim of this study is to investigate the effect of charades game toward student’s vocabulary. This study was conducted at the first-grade students of SMPN 18 Mataram in academic year 2017/2018. This study used a quasi-experimental design that is used pre-test and post-test control group design. The population of study involved 40 students from two classes SMPN 18 Mataram in academic year 2017/2018. The writer took all of the students as a sample, and they are 20 students belong to the experimental group and 20 students in the control group. In this study, the writer used the vocabulary test consists of 20 items multiple choice covered with the indicator of vocabulary consist of spelling, pronunciation, and meaning. The result of this study, the students could understand spelling, pronunciation, and meaning and they could answer the test vocabulary easily through charades game. In this data, pre-test, and post-test as the research technique of data collection, then followed by analyzing the data using the t-test formula. The level of significance is at 0, 05%, t-test = 2,99 and t-table= 2,02, Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and Null Hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. It means that there was a significant difference between the student's pre-test and post-test scores. Thus, the writer concludes that the charades game on the student’s vocabulary affects.

<p>This research entitled: “The Effectiveness of Using Photograph in Teaching Writing” is intended to find out whether there is significantly different in writing ability between the experimental group and the control group.</p><p>This research employed experimental design. The participants of the study were the tenth-grade students at SMAN 1 Karau Kuala in the academic year 2013/2014. Two classes were used in this research. There were X-C as the Experimental group and X-D as the control group. The research instrument used was a writing test in the form of essay test. The data in this research were mainly gathered through the use of pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed by measuring t-test and SPSS program to calculate the t-value from the score. The finding of the research shows that there is a significant difference between teaching writing by using photograph and teaching writing without using photograph. After the treatments, the mean is 75.43 the standard deviation is 9.370 the df is 44, and the significance is 0.00. If the significance is smaller than 0.05, it means there is a significant difference between teaching writing by using photograph and teaching writing without using photograph. </p>

This study deals with The Fishbowl Method to Improve the Students’ Speaking Skill (An Experimental Study in Ninth Grade Students of SMP N 2 Ambarawa in the Academic Year of 2014/2015). This research was done to answer the objectives of study, namely (1) to find out the difference of lecturing and Fishbowl method in Ninth Grade Students of SMP N 2 Ambarawa in the academic year of 2014/2015, (2) to find out the significant difference of lecturing and Fishbowl method in Ninth Grade Students of SMP N 2 Ambarawa in the academic year of 2014/2015. This research applied descriptive quantitative method. The objects were Ninth Grade Students of SMP N 2 Ambarawa in the academic year of 2014/2015, and the analyzing data were students’ speaking skill that was taught by Fishbowl Method. The sample of this research was taken 28% from population. The numbers of sample were 50 students that were divided into 2 groups. The first group was experimental group and the second group was control group. The data tested using t-test formula by comparing the mean score of pre-test and post-test from both classes. The level of significance was set equal or less than 5%. The result of this study showed that t-value 8, 511 was higher than t-table 2, 064 with the degree of freedom (df) of 24. Therefore, it could be concluded that there was significant difference of T-test between students taught by lecturing and students taught by Fishbowl method. Since t-value was higher than t-table, it meant that null hypothesis was rejected and alternative hypothesis was accepted. Thus, it could be said that Fishbowl method improved students’ speaking skill in Ninth Grade Students of SMP N 2 Ambarawa in the academic year of 2014/2015
