This research aims to (1) describe code-switching utterences of train passenger’s Malang-Bandung, (2)describe the meaning of utterences of train passenger’s Malang-Bandung, (3) describe the effect of utterances of train passenger’s Malang-Bandung. This type of the research is a descriptive qualitative research. The research methodeused case study that lead to phenomenology approach. The subjects of of the research are the train passengers with form of utterences. The technique used of collecting data are SBLC, record, notes, and documentation technique.The instrument are notes, recording devices containing audio, visual, and audio-visual. The result of the research is a khazanah of utterences of train pasengers Malang-Bandung route with some factors that being background of code-switching occurred. This research uses siciopragmatic in analyzing the data to find the meaning of the utterence on the use of language in certtain cultural societies and social conditions. The result of the research included (1) the speech  form of code-switching  the train passengger’s  for Malang—Bandung that was part of the intern and ekstern code, (2) the official meaning utterences code-switching of  train  pasengger’s  Malang—Bandung, and (3) factors that affected the code-switching of train passengger’s  Malang—Bandung.

Kepulauan Riau merupakan provinsi yang terdiri dari beberapa pulau diantaranya Pulau Batam, Pulau Bintan dan Pulau Karimun. Modal sosial merupakan serangkaian nilai dan norma informal yang dimiliki oleh kelompok masyarat dalam membagun kerjasamanya. Lingkup penelitian pada pembahasan ini adalah terfokus pada pengaruh modal sosial terhadap perkembangan pariwisata di Kepulauan Riau dalam hal ini Pulau Batam, Pulau Bintan, dan Pulau Karimun. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian ini dikondisikan sebagai penelitian kualitatif melalui strategi studi kasus. Sistem pendekatan yang digunakan juga merupakan pendekatan deskriptif analitik. Melakukan pengamatan langsung, mengumpulkan data-data kemudian menghubungkannya dengan kajian teori yang digunakan. Lokus penelitian ini terdapat di Kepulauan Riau dengan melihat pengaruh modal sosial pada perkembangan pariwisata di ketiga pulau yaitu Pulau Batam, Pulau Bintan dan Pulau Karimun. Berdasarkan hasil survey yang saya lakukan di Kepulauan Riau, terutama pada ketiga pulau yaitu Pulau Batam, Pulau Bintan, dan Pulau Karimun, dari ketiga pulau tersebut ternyata pada Pulau Karimun perkembangan pariwisatanya tidak terlalu berkembang karena masyarakat yang tidak menerima adanya wisatawan terutama wisatawan mancanegara. Riau Islands is a province consisting of several islands including Batam Island, Bintan Island and Karimun Island. Social capital is a set of informal values ​​and norms that are owned by community groups in building cooperation. The scope of research in this discussion is focused on the influence of social capital on the development of tourism in the Riau Islands, in this case Batam Island, Bintan Island, and Karimun Island. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. This research is conditioned as qualitative research through a case study strategy. The system approach used is also a descriptive analytic approach. Make direct observations, collect data and then relate it to the study of the theories used. The locus of this research is in the Riau Islands by looking at the influence of social capital on the development of tourism in the three islands, namely Batam Island, Bintan Island and Karimun Island. Based on the results of a survey I conducted in the Riau Islands, especially on the three islands, namely Batam Island, Bintan Island, and Karimun Island, of the three islands, it turns out that on Karimun Island the development of tourism is not very developed because people do not accept tourists, especially foreign tourists.

The study was conducted in order to describe the forms and the functions of code-switching and code-mixing in drama performance of ALE of the students of ICP batch 2017. The study was descriptive qualitative research. The data are collected by observation and documentation in the drama performance in Art and Language Exhibition ‘Prahara Ing Argabelah’. The finding shows that 24 unit analysis of code-switching found 6 used tag-switching, 15 used inter-sentential switching, and 3 used intra-sentential switching. Furthermore, 27 unit analysis of code-mixing performed 21 intra-sentential code mixing, 5 intra-lexical code mixing, and 1 involving a change of pronunciation. Then, from 24 unit analysis of code-switching, the researcher found six functions in the drama conversation. There are 6 addressee specifications, 2 repetitions, 7 interjections, 1 message qualification, 2 personalization and objectivizations, and 6 facilities of expression. Moreover, the researcher just found 3 functions from 27 unit analysis of code-mixing. There are 1 repetition, 2 message qualifications, and 24 facilities of expression.

Abstract: Academic writing is one type of writing that should be mastered by students in Polytechnic of Tonggak Equator Pontianak. Academic writing is very important because it functions as a way to express an idea or another way of communication in doing research. Academic writing is essential to process in writing academic articles. Moreover, writing skills are an important part of communication. Academic writing is a specific ability of communication to put writers’ ideas on paper, to organize their knowledge, and then how to make sentences become a paragraph. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The writer collected the data by giving instructions to the students to write an academic article. The respondents are 60 students who are the representative of the students from class A to F in semester 5. This semester is chosen because they have academic writing subject. The result of the research shows that the most crucial problem in writing a sentence in academic context by students of Polytechnic Tonggak Equator Pontianak is in the sentence category. In this problem, students are not able to vary their sentences in their paragraphs that might cause the quality of their sentence is not proficient.Keyword: Sentence Feature, Academic Writing, Politeknik Tonggak Equator Students

Abstract This study aimed at investigating types of code-switching pattern which used by non-native speaker English teacher and the reason to use the code-switching. This research was a descriptive qualitative research. There were 3 informant samples from non native speaker English speaker in a bilingual school in Bali. The data were collected by using observation and interview. The results showed that, 1) there is an indication of insertion and alternation which occurred by non native speaker English during communication and mostly in the form of simple imperative and instructional utterances, and 2) the reason to use the code switching is to introduce the students the habit of using English

The aims of this study are to describe and explain the form of code switching and code mixing, to identify the factors of code switching and code mix and to identify the purpose and function of code switching and code mixing in the Acehnese students in Yogyakarta. This is descriptive qualitative research by sociolinguistic approach. The method used in this research is observation method and record technique. The data of this research are the speechs of Acehnese students who are studying in Yogyakarta which contains of code switching and code mixing. Data were identified and classified and then analyzed by existing sociolinguistic theory.The results show that: first, the form of code transfer in Acehnese student communication in Yogyakarta includes the switch of code from Acehnese Language to Indonesian and the switch of code from Indonesian to Aceh; second, the form of mixed code in the form of insertion of words, phrases, and clauses; third, the factors of code switching and code mixing are speakers, participants, third speakers, speech mode and discussion topics; fourth, the purpose and function of code switching and code mixing in the Acehnese students are to familiarize the situation, to make a sense of humor, to look prestigious, to respect the other person and to tell the secret.Key words        : Code Switching, Code Mixing, Sociolinguistic

This study focuses on the form and function of code-switching and code-mixing used in the Fashion  Program "I LOOK " on NET TV. This study is aimed to answer the following problem: 1.What is the forms of code-switching and code-mixing used in the Fashion  Program "I LOOK" on NET TV, and What are the functions of code-switching and code-mixing in Fashion Program "I LOOK" on NET TV. To answer the problem, the writer used descriptive qualitative research through theoretical triangulation the total data 72 unit of analysis of code-switching found that  22 data used tag switching, 18 data used inter-sentential switching, and  32 used intra-sentential switching. It showed that intra-sentential switching is commonly used by  Kimmy  Jayanti in the fashion program "I LOOK" on NET TV. Furthermore, 127 unit data analysis of code-mixing performed 74 insertions of words, 48 insertions of phrases, 2 insertions of hybrids, and 3 insertions of reduplications. Meanwhile, there is 250 function of code-switching and code-mixing used by Kimmy  Jayanti in the fashin program "I LOOK" in  NET TV. They are quotation  1, addressee specification  24, repetition  1, interjection 31, message qualification 12, personalization and objectivization  15, and facility of expression  121.

Hassan bin Tsabit is among the prominent figures in Arabic poetry. One of the reasons he excels in poetry is because he is from a family of poets. Hassan bin Tsabit is well-known among his people during the pre-Islamic (jahiliyah) period and during the Islamic period after his conversion to Islam. It is a known fact that he plays a big role in defending Islam through his poetries. On that note, this article aims to find out the islamization in Hassan bin Tsabit's poetry works between pre-Islamic and Islamic period focusing on his praise poetries. The methodology used for this article is the descriptive qualitative research method. The researchers analyzed the selected praise poetries according to the concept of Islamic literature by Muhammad Uthman El-Muhammady. The findings of this article are that the work of praise poetries by Hassan bin Tsabit is influenced strongly by Islam in terms of the terminologies and style of writing.

This study aimed to know how is the profile of students’ English linguistic intelligence of rhetoric at SMP Islam De Green Camp Tanjungpinang. The subject in this research is the eighth grade that consisted of 21 female students. This study is based on Gardner’s theory (1998). A research design in this research is descriptive qualitative research with analysis technique. The setting of place in this research is at SMP Islam De Green Camp Tanjungpinang. The instruments in collecting the data are interviews and speaking tests. Based on the instruments, the researcher assesses students’ answers by a rubric that consisted of grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. The result shows that the total score is 61.9 and from the criteria of the rhetoric on speaking, the students’ English linguistic intelligence of rhetoric at SMP Islam De Green Camp Tanjungpinang is good.

The fundamental characteristics of the lecturers and the students in the English Department should use English. Lack of English competence is widely considered to be the major cause of code switching. The aim of our work to broaden current knowledge of the phenomenon of grammatical code switching in the English Department proposal seminar at STKIP Budidaya Binjai. This study applied descriptive qualitative research with the data from the utterances of the lecturers and the students during the process of proposal seminar. The data were obtained from observation, interview, and field note. Grammatical code switching in the English Department proposal seminar were tag code switching consisted of 12 utterances, inter-sentential code switching consisted of 15 utterances, intra-sentential code switching consisted of 19 utterances, proper noun and noun phrase consisted of 7 utterances, negative words consisted of 4 utterances, languages similarity consisted of 11 utterances and discourse marker consisted of 16 utterances. It can be concluded that grammatical code switching occurs in the English Department proposal seminar process

This research aims to reveal the attitudes of the teacher in using code switching in the classroom from English (or shorten by L2) to the Indonesian language (or shorten by L1) or vice versa and also to find out the functions of teacher’s switching to the L1 in practice in Grade IX of SMK 10 Padang. The descriptive qualitative research method is used to analyze teachers’ code switching to Indonesian language through the observation and interview. The subject in this research is an English teacher who taught in grade IX of SMK 10 Padang. Based on the analysis of the data, it can be concluded that the code switching used by the teacher in the classroom plays a positive role in the process of teaching and learning. Moreover, the functions of code switching used by the teacher in the classroom are in order to explain vocabulary, give grammar instruction, emphasize some points, manage the class, index a stance of empathy or solidarity towards students.
