This article reports how simulation strategy applied to improve student’s speaking skill. The participants were 36 students of State Junior High School 1Citeureup, Kranggan, West Java. For about two months they were taught speaking using simulationstrategy. The instruments used were speaking test and observation. The data were analyzed using the descriptive analysis technique. It was found that there were improved teaching and learning atmosphere and increased students’ oral performance. The students’ speaking ability improvement is evidenced by the mean score of students' pretest performance, 44.00, becoming 51.33 (or 17% got improved) in the first cycle and 84.33 (or  92% got improved) in the second cycle.  It also revealed that the total percentage improvement of the students’ speaking skill was 92%.

This research aims to find out students' interest and how much support from the school to support junior high school extracurricular sports activities in Pringsewu Kota District, Pringsewu Regency. The research method used in this research is quantitative descriptive analysis technique. In this research instrument using a questionnaire or questionnaire (Questionnaires). The results of the study were obtained with good categories as a whole as many as 65 students with a total percentage of 93% in the category of extracurricular sports activities and 14 students with a total percentage of 20% in school infrastructure. Then from the results which stated that it was quite good, it reached 5 students with a percentage of 7% in the category of extracurricular sports activities and 35 students with a total percentage of 50% in school infrastructure. As for the poor classification, there are no extracurricular sports activities and 21 students with a percentage of 30% in school infrastructure.

This study was aimed to improve the students’ speaking achievement by using storytelling technique. The subject of the study was the eight grade students of Public Junior High School 22 Medan in academic year 2018/2019. This study was conducted by applying Classrom Action Research (CAR), which had been conducted in two cycles and each cycle consisted of three meetings. The instruments of collecting data were quantitative data (speaking test) and qualitative data (observation checklist and field notes). The result of the test shows that the mean score of pre test is 40, formative test is 46.34, and post test is 62.89. The percentage of the students’ means score improve from pre test to post test 57.2%. The result of observation checklist and field notes showed that the students were interested in teaching and learning English especially speaking skill by using storytelling technique. These indicated that there was a significant improvement of the students’ speaking achievement by using storytelling technique.

Writing is an activity to share information in written form by combining some words into sentences and into paragraphs. Many students are still confused how to write a text because they do not know the rules and they can not express their ideas into written form. One of the strategies to teach writing is Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) whose its main activity is identifying and labelling all object and activities on the pictures. The method that is used in this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subjects of this research are 25 students of Class VIII-4 of Junior High School Mulia Pratama Medan in the Academic Year of 2017/2018. Test, observation sheets, field note and questionnaire were used as the instruments for collecting the data. The result of this study showed increasing score of the students’ writing descriptive text. The result of the test showed that the students’ mean score in pre-test is 35,6 with 0% of the students got score ≥ 75, in formative test the mean score is 58,2 with 8% of the students got score ≥ 75 and in post-test the mean score is 69,5 with 24% of students got score ≥ 75. It showed that the percentage improvement of the students’ mean score from pre-test to post-test was 24%. The responses of students after being taught by using Picture Word Inductive Model are good. The students enjoyed the process of teaching and learning. It is suggested that teachers use Picture Word Inductive Model in teaching writing skill to improve the students’ skill in writing descriptive texts.

Think-Pair-Share technique is one of the cooperative learning strategies that promote student involvement in the classroom. This strategy makes students engaged in in-class activities such as discussions and provides opportunities to share their ideas with others. The purpose of this study was to describe the implementation of the Think-Pair-Share strategy in teaching speaking skill for secondary students. A qualitative method with a descriptive analysis was undertaken in this study. The sample was twenty students of eighth grade. The data was collected through interviews, observation, and document analysis. The data analysis technique used was presented in a descriptive form. The results indicated the implementation of the Think-Pair-Share technique during the learning process took place following the stages that have been stated in the learning process plan made by the teacher. Appreciation for the implementation of the Think-Pair-Share technique both from students is quite good. Students stated that they can overcome the constraints in the learning process of speaking activity through Think-Pair-Share.

Learning the speaking skills in the girls' dormitory of Aceh Alfityan foundation emphasizes on memorizing a lot of vocabularies and practicing of Arabic conversation. After conducting pre observation, the researcher found that the second grade of junior high school faced a number of problems in practicing the Arabic conversation such as the difficulty in arranging the Arabic sentences in accordance with the rules. The results of this classroom action research indicated that the application of mind mapping and photographic models were effective and could help the students to improve and smarten their speaking skills. As the researcher note in their daily conversations, the students’ ability in Arabic speaking skill was better than before. The students’ response toward the learning speaking skills using mind mapping and photography models was very effective. It was based on the observation in the teaching and learning process in the classroom. The students were very delighted while learning activity and at the same time they could also improve their understanding toward the learning materials. In addition, they were be able to practice Arabic conversation skills fluently during their daily life. Moreover, the application of mind mapping and photographic models took the important role in enhancing the ability of students’ Arabic speaking skills. It was supported by the results analysis of each student’s answer in each phase. The researchers found an average increase in the students’ learning evaluation test in each phase.

This research was aimed to develop Video Blog as media of speaking in teaching long functional text for eighth grade students at SMPN 17 Medan. This research applied Research and Development (R&D) model proposed by Gall, Gall and Borg (2003) through six procedures: gathering data and information, conducting need analysis, designing, expert validating, revising, and producing final product. The subjects of this research were 30 students of eighth grade of SMPN 17 Medan. The instruments of collecting data were the teacher’s lesson plan, teacher’s interview and students’ questionnaires result. The data were analyzed by using descriptive analysis. The product has been validated by two experts. The assessment from the first expert was 4,5 or 91,3% while the assessment from the second expert was 4,6 or 93%.  Based on the experts’ judgment result, the research showed that: The Video Blogs were eligible and valid as learning media in teaching and learning speaking long functional text for eighth grade students at SMPN 17 Medan. Furthermore, the video blogs give many benefits for students, such as to improve their speaking, make them enjoy and easier to speak long functional text. It means that the vlog media development was appropriate for the eighth grade students of SMPN 17 Medan.

This research aimed to find the use of Cue Card Method improves the students writing skill at Eight Grade Students of SMP Bajiminasa Makassar. The method of this research was classroom action research consisted of two cycles. One cycle consisted of four meeting. it meant that were eight meetings for two cycles. This classroom action research was done at SMP Bajiminasa Makassar for English subject. As a subject in this research was class VIII.A  Junior High School in the 2012-2013 academic year with student’ number as about 36 students’. Those consisted of 26 women and 10 men. the instrument was writing test and observation. The research findings indicated that the application of cue card method was effective and significant in improving the students’ writing skill, especially it focuses on students content and vocabulary. It was proved that the mean score of D-Test was 5.64, Cycle I 6.13 and after conducted Cycle II improved to 8.23 and based two cycle researcher found percentage improvement that is from D-Test to Cycle I is 13.24 % and from Cycle I to II is 29.70 and D-T to Cycle II 46.35 %. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that the use of cue card method improves students’ writing skill and class condition. Therefore, it is recommended that the teachers use cue card media in teaching writing.Keywords: Writing Skill, Cue Card Method

This final project focuses on Alvin and the Chipmunks film in spoken narrative text to improve students’ speaking skill. The objectives of this study are (1) to find out the students’ speaking ability before being taught by using Alvin and the Chipmunks film in spoken narrative text, (2) to find out the students’ speaking ability after being taught Alvin and the Chipmunks film in spoken narrative text, and (3) to find out whether or not there is significant difference of the students’ speaking ability before and after being taught using Alvin and the Chipmunks film at storytelling. In this study, the population was the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Gubug in the academic year 2013/2014. The number of the population was 324 students classified into 9 classes. Cluster sampling is used in taking the sample. 69 students are selected as sample out of 324 students that consist of 36 students from class Xi as the experiment group and 33 students XH as the control group. Experiment research was used here to get the data. The pre-test is given to the students on both of groups. After that, the difference treatments are given in experimental group. At the end of the research, the post-test is given to both of groups. In experiment group, the students retell the story of Alvin and the Chipmunks after watching the film and in control groups the students retell without watching the film in front of the class. The mean score of the experiment group 72.08 was higher than the mean score of the control group 65.455. The t-test application to the scores of two groups showed that the valuable (9,67) is higher than t-table (1.996). It can be seen that there is a significance difference speaking ability of the tenth grade students of SMA N 1 Gubug after being taught using Alvin and the Chipmunks film. To overcome these problems, the researcher offers some suggestions. For the school, the school should give good facilities and many media for teaching and learning process. For the teacher, the teacher should give variation teaching especially using media in spoken narrative text to improve students’ speaking skill. For the students, the students have to do more active, confident, and practice to practice speaking English

This study is development research, which aims at producing guided inquiry-based IPA (Natural Sciences) learning tools in energy and life system subject which is valid, practical, and effective, discovering the level of validity, practicality, and effectiveness of guided inquiry-based IPA learning tools in energy and life system subject developed. The development of learning tools employed Thiagarajan (Four-D) model which consists of four stages, namely defining, design, development, and dissemination. The test of learning tools was conducted to the students of grade VII.1 at SMPN 36 Makassar of academic year 2018/2019. Data collecting employed observation sheet and questionnaire. The data were then analyzed by using descriptive analysis technique. The products produce in this study are the lesson plan (RPP), student’s worksheet (LKPD), and student’s textbook (BAPD). The results of the validation on the learning tools developed, it is obtained the mean score based on the assessors which met the valid criteria and all of the components of learning tools are valued as reliable. The result of the field test on the practicality of learning tools developed shows that there is consistency between the result of experts’ perceptions and observers’, which is both gave high criteria or good. The learning tools are also effective to be applied because the result of the field test indicates that there is consistency between the result of experts’ perceptions and observers’. The result of experts perceptions gave the effectiveness result with high criteria or good. The result of observation on four indicators of effective criteria were all met.

This research aims to develop weblog as media in teaching writing of senior high school students.It is a research and development (R&D) study that follows ASSURE model proposed by Heinrich and developed by Smaldino, Heinich, Molenda, & Russell (2005:49). The procedure of developing media consisted of analyzing learner, stating objective, selecting media, utilizing media, requiring learner participation, evaluating and revising.The product was examined by the media expert. After conducting the first test, the second test was conducted by English teacher and students. The subjects of this research were the eleventh grade students of PGN 1 High school. The subject consisted of 19 students of class XI. The researcher used an interview and questionnaires as the data collecting technique. The questionnaires were distributed for needs analysis and expert validation. English teacher and students’ responded toward the developed weblog. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics for the questionnaires and the qualitative analysis technique for the interview.The findings revealed that the developed weblog as online media in teaching writing is categorized “very good” by experts with the mean scores put on 3.82. The result score of tryout is 3.48 and categorized as very good. The English teacher’s response towards the weblog show the range of average mean score on 3.69 categorized “very good”. Therefore, the developed weblog is very appropriate to use in teaching and learning process of writing.
