Housing affordability is an important issue and can be measured by an increasing number of indicators. Different urban settings may lead to different housing affordability criteria. This study incorporates the third-generation prospect theory and improved VIKOR method to construct a novel, comprehensive evaluation model for assessing housing affordability. The housing price to income and rent to income ratios were chosen as evaluation indicators, and the yearly median value of each indicator was taken as a dynamic reference point. The housing affordability indicators’ realistic prospect value matrix for large- and medium-sized Chinese cities were obtained for the study period’s duration. The comprehensive housing affordability prospect values were ranked using the improved VIKOR with entropy weight method. The novel proposed approach’s rationality and effectiveness were examined by comparing the original and prospect values, performing sensitivity analysis on the prospect value parameters, contrasting the ordinary and improved VIKOR methods, and comparing the proposed approach with the TOPSIS method. The results demonstrate that the proposed method can consider the decision maker’s psychological factors, endow housing affordability evaluation criteria with dynamic characteristics, overcome the problem of order reversal, and ensure the optimal compromise solution. Therefore, the proposed approach is suitable for housing affordability evaluation.

Land reclamation plays a vital role in the ecological improvement and economic development of mining regions. This study aims to conduct a preliminary discussion on the evaluation content, evaluation methods, and evaluation indicators of land reclamation benefits in mining areas. Using fuzzy comprehensive evaluation (FCE) method, land reclamation was assessed. After compiling a model of the land reclamation influencing factors, an evaluation index of land reclamation benefit in the mining area was constructed using the land reclamation monitoring data for the northern part of the mining area over the last decade. In addition, an expert scoring method and a traditional evaluation model were used to estimate the comprehensive benefits of land reclamation at Hanjiawan coal mine in Shendong mining area. Land reclamation markedly improved the land type within the mining region and decreased the amount of damaged land, including subsided and occupied land. Moreover, land reclamation improved the available land area such as agricultural and construction land. The proposed model obtained an overall 63% increase in the land reclamation area. Different degrees of ecological, economic, and social benefits of Hanjiawan coal mine were observed; however, the ecological benefits were the most significant, with a growth rate of 56%. Based on the evaluation criteria, all benefits of the mining area after reclamation were good. Over time, land reclamation will offer greater comprehensive benefits to the mining area. Furthermore, this method can be used for precise evaluation of comprehensive benefits after land reclamation, and the assessment results will provide a reference basis for sustainable development of the mining area.

In this study, a comprehensive evaluation model of ammonia pollution trends in a groundwater source area along a river in residential areas is proposed. It consists of coupling models and their interrelated models, including (і) MODFLOW and (іі) MT3DMS. The study area is laid in a plain along a river, where a few workshops operate and groundwater is heavily contaminated by domestic pollutants, agricultural pollutants, and cultivation pollutants. According to the hydrogeological conditions of the study area and the emissions of ammonia calculated in the First National Pollution Source Census Report in China, this study calibrates and verifies the prediction model. The difference between the observed water level and the calculated water level of the model is within the confidence interval of the test. This means that the model is reliable and that it can truly reflect changes in the groundwater flow field and can be directly used to simulate the migration of ammonia. The simulation results show that, after 20 years, the center of the ammonia pollution plume will gradually flow east along with the groundwater over time, mainly affecting the groundwater, which is less than 200 m from the river, and the ammonia content near wells at a maximum extent of less than 0.3 mg/L.

This chapter describes a comprehensive evaluation of ten enterprise reference models, including the models underlying the two leading ERP systems (SAP and Baan) and a number of prominent data model libraries. The main purpose of the chapter is to explore how well various model evaluation criteria and the associated metrics can be applied to real-life enterprise models. The analysis is structured into syntactic, semantic and pragmatic criteria. Not all criteria can be measured using clear or unambiguous metrics and some novel, exploratory approaches are suggested. The chapter does not only provide an insight how some of the better-known enterprise models compare against each other, but it also highlights the many practical problems and issues encountered with applying evaluation criteria to industrial-strength models.

On the basis of the analyzing of the criterion of the evaluation index, a comprehensive evaluation model for RAL (reconfigurable assembly line) is proposed based on the hierarchy analysis according to the characteristics of the RAL and the engineering application. The new combination weighting method is used to calculate the weights of every index, and the index is assessed by fuzzy synthetically evaluation. The subordinate degree of evaluation object relative to optimum reference value adopting least squares principle is regarded as the evaluation criteria. Finally, this method is demonstrated to be reasonable and effective by a simulation example.

Abstract. Background: Monitoring of suicide rates in the recovery phase following a devastating disaster has been limited. Aim: We report on a 7-year follow-up of the suicide rates in the area affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, which occurred in March 2011. Method: This descriptive study covered the period from March 2009 to February 2018. Period analysis was used to divide the 108-month study period into nine segments, in which suicide rates were compared with national averages using Poisson distribution. Results: Male suicide rates in the affected area from March 2013 to February 2014 increased to a level higher than the national average. After subsequently dropping, the male rates from March 2016 to February 2018 re-increased and showed a greater difference compared with the national averages. The difference became significant in the period from March 2017 to February 2018 ( p = .047). Limitations: Specific reasons for increasing the rates in the recovery phase were not determined. Conclusion: The termination of the provision of free temporary housing might be influential in this context. Provision of temporary housing was terminated from 2016, which increased economic hardship among needy evacuees. Furthermore, disruption of the social connectedness in the temporary housing may have had an influence. Our findings suggest the necessity of suicide rate monitoring even in the recovery phase.
