AbstractThe changing dynamic of human lives makes most of them ignorant to the values of right and wrong. Truth, freedom, and justice have become scarce and beyond real.Cruelty has caused fear, restlessness, and misery. In order to be free from excruciatingpressure, Kalatidha describes a picture of how someone has lived in his dream happily. The dreams and goals he is been longing for are only enjoyed in that surreal world, theworld freed from norms, ideas, and public opinion. “Running away” is the word used todescribe how people lock themselves away from the real world.  For him, the real world he understands is the world that can give him joy, happiness, and cheerfulness. Things that are immoral in the eyes of the public are noshame to him. One thing he is sure of, that life is a journey, and how he live it. Emptinessis no longer misery, but a process that has to be passed through the journey. Kalatidhahas become a picture of how inner unrest becomes a focus of deceitful real life pantings.Deceit and dishonesty are stupid, and craziness is an act of hopelessness. Cognitive interest is a vital learning motive for the successful learning process. Nowadays students’ interest about science and mathematics are decreasing. The aim of the study is to explore the cognitive interest of Grade 9 students in science and mathematics. Students were surveyed and it helped to explore the respondents’ cognitive activity and the cognitive interest regarding the understanding of causal relations, research activity and the solution of practical problems. The level of cognitive interests on the three level scales is average for the whole sample of respondents. The survey shows that students do not possess explicit cognitive activity; learning happens rather passively, without initiative; however, they have rather pronounced interest to explore and solve problems connected with the real life. Some implications for teachers on how to increase learners’ cognitive interest are provided in the conclusion. Key words: cognitive interest, learning process, science and mathematics.

Most curriculum components of archival graduate programmes consist of contextual knowledge, archival knowledge, complementary knowledge, practicum, and scholarly research. The practicum, now commonly known as experiential learning in the global hub, is now widely accepted in library and information studies (LIS) education as necessary and important. It is through experiential learning that, over and above the theoretical aspects of a profession, students are provided with the opportunity to learn by doing in a workplace environment. The University of Botswana’s Master’s in Archives and Records Management (MARM) programme has a six weeks experiential learning programme whose purpose is to expose prospective archivists and/or records managers to the real archival world in terms of practice as informed by archival theory. The main objective of the study was to determine the extent to which the University of Botswana’s experiential learning component exposes students to real-life archival work to put into practice theoretical aspects learnt in the classroom as intended by the university guidelines. This study adopted a qualitative research design and collected data through interviews from participants selected through purposive and snowball sampling strategies. Documentary review supplemented the interviews. The data collected were analysed thematically in line with research objectives. The study determined that experiential learning does indeed expose students to the real world of work. It thus helps to bridge the gap between archival theory and practice for students without archives and records management work experience. For those with prior archival experience, experiential learning does not add value. This study recommends that students with prior archives and records management experience should rather, as an alternative to experiential learning, undertake supervised research, and write a research essay in a chosen thematic area in archives and records management.
