The article presents the results of clinical and microbiological studies and immunological features of the state of periodontal tissues in patients with moderate periodontitis, which developed as a complication of orthodontic treatment. It was found that at the later stages of orthodontic treatment with the development of periodontitis, a complex of persistent changes in the periodontal tissues at different levels of pathogen-esis was revealed in patients. In this connection, in order to plan the complex treatment of patients with periodontitis, which has developed as a complication of orthodontic treatment, and to predict the course of the disease, it is necessary to influence the established and mutually supportive links and indicators of pathogenesis.

In this article the review of foreign and domestic literary sources, which are devoted to the actual problem of modern dentistry – the treatment of inflammatory diseases of periodontal tissues: gingivitis and periodontitis are presented. The complex approach to their treatment involves the appointment of a significant amount of pharmacotherapeutic drugs. Therapeutic failures and iatrogenic complications have led to the fact that today the interests of doctors and population to medicinal products significantly increased. The purpose of the study is to analyze the data of scientific literature on the use of plant-based medicinal products for the treatment of periodontal inflammatory diseases over the past 10 years. Materials and methods. Comprehensive and systematic analysis of literature. Review and discussion. The analysis of information sources on the use of plant-based medicinal products in dentistry both independently and in the composition of medical and prophylactic means has established that the modern assortment of plant-based preparations in the pharmaceutical market of Ukraine to a certain extent is limited. The emergence of new plant-based species that have been tested in conditions of experimental pathology and require an evidence-based clinical base is noted. The composition of plant-based preparations used for the treatment of inflammatory periodontal diseases include vitamins, biologically active substances, glycosides, alkaloids, in connection with a wide range of action: antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, regenerating, hemostatic, antioxidative. The data on plant-based preparations that are most often used such as chamomile extracts, calendula, hypericum, plantain, kalanchoe, aloe, eucalyptus, milfoil, nettle, calamus and plant-based species are summarized. The medicinal agents considered are mainly recommended for local treatment of periodontal diseases in the form of dental care means, mouth rinse, gel, chewing gum, herbal liquer. It is known that the complex treatment of periodontal diseases includes a general influence on the body. The properties of green tea with its wide range of actions are investigated. With antioxidant properties, it can be a healthy alternative for controlling destructive changes in periodontal diseases. Attention is drawn to the proposed unique natural complex “Resverazin” due to a wide range of pharmacological action, low toxicity and relative safety. The drug produces antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, immune stimulating, vasodilative, neuroprotective action. Conclusion. Based on the literature analysis, it can be concluded that the accumulated experimental and clinical data on the therapeutic properties of plants prove perspective of their use in the complex treatment of inflammatory periodontal diseases. Future studies are mandatory for further confirmation of the effectiveness of these medicinal plants

Background. Periodontal disease is one of the most common and complex pathologies in dentistry. It is known frequently damage to the tissues of the periodontal complex with dermatoses. The most relevant among the dermatoses of the mucous membrane of the mouth and the red border of the lips is oral lichen planus. Among the six clinical forms of red flat oral lichen planus and the red border of the lips, the exudative-hyperemic and erosive-ulcerous forms occur most often. Atypical form is much less common than other forms and is often diagnosed by dentists as an inflammatory periodontal disease. At the same time, the pathogenetic mechanisms of inflammatory processes in the gums, which are different in oral lichen planus, are not taken into account, which, accordingly, complicates adequate treatment. Objectives. The aim of the study was to analyze the periodontal status in patients with exudative-hyperemic, erosive-ulcerative and atypical forms of oral lichen planus. Methods. Under our supervision there were 181 patients with oral lichen planus, in whom a simplified Green-Vermillion hygiene index was determined. To assess the state of periodontal used periodontal index according to Russell. Results. When assessing the hygienic condition of the oral cavity, high values were observed in individuals with severe forms of the disease: erosive-ulcerative, exudative-hyperemic. The highest values of the periodontal index were found in patients with atypical, erosive and ulcerative forms of oral lichen planus. Conclusions. The results of the clinical examination of patients with oral lichen planus dictate, first of all, to include in the scheme of complex treatment of it the sanitization of oral cavity and complex treatment of inflammatory periodontal diseases as well.

In recent decades, both in the world and in our country, thyroid gland diseases are not only widespread, but also have a tendency to constant growth. Currently, more attention is paid to diseases of the thyroid gland that are associated with endemic foci of iodine defi ciency in soil and water. The aim of the study – to investigate the state of periodontal tissues in individuals with primary hypothyroidism.Materials and Methods. We conducted a survey of 86 people with primary hypothyroidism, 16 of them with manifestation and 70 with subclinical forms. A comparison group was 45 people without thyroid gland diseases. Index assessment of periodontal tissues included the defi nition of a simplifi ed oral hygiene index of the oral cavity of the Green-Vermillion (Oral Hygiene Index-Simlifi ed, Green-Vermillion, 1964), the degree of gingival infl ammation was determined by Parma (C. Parma, 1960, Papillary-Marginal Alveolar Index)), the state of periodontal tissues in the complex periodontal index (KPI) (1987), destructive changes in the bone tissue of the alveolar appendix were determined by the Fux index. Results and Discussion. The article presents the results of the index estimation of periodontal tissues in individuals with primary hypothyroidism. An analysis of the conducted index evaluation found that they had a poor level of hygienic state of the oral cavity. This was manifested by the development of infl ammatory and, to a lesser extent, infl ammatory and dystrophic lesions of periodontal tissues, as evidenced by papillarymarginalalveolar (PMA) and complex periodontal indices (KPI).Conclusions. Even more signifi cant changes in these indicators were found in individuals with a manifestation of hypothyroidism. So, we can conclude that in persons with primary hypothyroidism metabolic processes ofthe organism are violated, which leads through a number of pathophysiological changes to the activity of parodontopathogenic microfl ora and the development of infl ammatory and infl ammatory and dystrophic periodontal diseases.

Subject. The article presents the data of a comparative analysis of the traditional method of treating chronic generalized periodontitis of mild to moderate severity and with the use of periodontal dressings in combination with an antibacterial photodynamic system. The goal is to study the effectiveness of the methodology of complex therapy for the treatment of periodontal diseases using periodontal dressings and antibacterial photodynamic therapy. Methodology. We observed 120 patients with inflammatory periodontal diseases aged 18 to 55 years (men ― 52, women ― 68), who were divided into the control and main groups. In the control group, treatment was carried out according to the traditional scheme of drug therapy, in the main ― according to the method of complex therapy. The treatment regimen according to this technique included the use of periodontal dressings and an antibacterial photodynamic therapy system: photosynthesis was applied to the affected area of the periodontal pocket, after which the pathogenic microorganisms were stained for 1-3 minutes, then the liquid was thoroughly washed from the periodontal pockets and the laser affected the affected area for 60 seconds. Results. The proposed treatment regimen using an antibacterial photodynamic system in combination with periodontal dressings allows to achieve a pronounced and prolonged anti-inflammatory effect in periodontal tissues without local and systemic use of antibiotics, reduces treatment time for mild periodontitis by 29, average ― by 57 %, reduces the likelihood recurrence, lengthens the duration of remission. Findings. The use of complex treatment of periodontitis of mild to moderate severity allows the method to accelerate the restoration of periodontal tissues, relieve inflammation, saturate the tissues with oxygen, reduce the rate of relapse by 2.6 times and reduce the duration of relapse of this disease within 24 months. Our data allow us to implement this treatment regimen in practical healthcare.

Periodontal disease is a disease characterized by inflammation of the periodontal tissues caused by microorganisms in the oral cavity and affects approximately 90% of the world population. Losses in the alveolar bone and connective tissue are observed due to periodontal diseases, which may lead to tooth loss. In addition, periodontal disease has been associated with many systemic diseases such as coronary artery diseases, stroke, head and neck cancer, pregnancy complications and diabetes. Periodontal disease is affected by risk factors such as smoking and diabetes, similar to vascular diseases. Hence based on above findings the present study was planned for Biochemical and Clinical Evaluation of Correlation of Periodontitis and Early Carotid Atherosclerosis. The present study was planned in Department of Dentistry, Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital, Gaya, Bihar, India. In the present study 20 cases of the Generalized chronic Periodontitis were enrolled in the Group A as study group patients. And 20 cases of Periodontally healthy individuals were enrolled in Group B as control group patients for comparative evaluation. Under aseptic measures, venous blood samples were drawn by venipuncture in antecubital fossa using 5ml syringe and collected in a plain vacuum tubes and transported to clinical laboratory for lipid profile analysis. Both the groups were subjected for ultrasonography for the assessment of Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (IMT) and Lipid Profile. The data generated from the present study concluded that periodontal disease has association with early carotid atherosclerosis which is a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases .Thus oral health and systemic health are closely related and overall systemic health of an individual can be improved by maintaining a proper oral health regimen. It is important in terms of health policies that there is no need for an additional cost for this early diagnosis. Keywords: Periodontitis, Early Carotid Atherosclerosis, Heart disease, etc.

The search for new ways of early detection and improving the effectiveness of treatinginflammatory periodontal diseases is one of the urgent tasks in modern dentistry. Inflammatory diseases in the periodontal tissues lead to the loss of teeth, the appearance offoci of chronic infection in the oral cavity, a decrease in the body's reactivity, microbial sensitization, and the development of allergic conditions. This pathological process is not a strictly limited pathology but, as a rule, is just one of the manifestations of more serious systemic diseases. The general state of human health, the quality of life, his socio-mental status and even his role in society suffer. Keywords:periodontium, inflammation, platelet autoplasm
