Modeling And Optimization Of The Construction Organization's Production Program

In the article, the author considers the problems of complex algorithmization and systematization of approaches to optimizing the work plans of construction organizations (calendar plans) using various modern tools, including, for example, evolutionary algorithms for "conscious" enumeration of options for solving a target function from an array of possible constraints for a given nomenclature. Various typical schemes for modeling the processes of distribution of labor resources between objects of the production program are given, taking into account the array of source data. This data includes the possibility of using the material and technical supply base (delivery, storage, packaging) as a temporary container for placing the labor resource in case of released capacity, quantitative and qualification composition of the initial labor resource, the properties of the construction organization as a counterparty in the contract system with the customer of construction and installation works etc. A conceptual algorithm is formed that is the basis of the software package for operational harmonization of the production program ( work plans) in accordance with the loading of production units, the released capacities of labor resources and other conditions stipulated by the model. The application of the proposed algorithm is most convenient for a set of objects, which determines the relevance of its implementation in optimization models when planning production programs of building organizations that contain several objects distributed over a time scale.

The article highlights the problems that arise in the management process, during the construction of buildings and structures. Operational management is an important part of a single planning system for construction production and has the following ultimate goals: the implementation of tasks for the commissioning of facilities; volume of construction and installation works; increasing labor productivity, etc. The function of operational management includes a continuous impact on the timely implementation of the work provided for in the plan. The stage of operational management includes operational planning and regulation, which includes control, accounting and decision-making. In the process of production, any management decisions related to the implementation of the project are reduced to the establishment of calendar modes of work. When making plans for a long period, it is impossible to take into account all the factors that may arise in the period immediately preceding the start of work. As we approach the planned deadlines, awareness of the specific situation is constantly growing. In modern conditions, in the absence of permanent labor collectives in construction organizations, to the previously defined functions of operational planning should be added the function of providing construction with skilled labor. Creating a network of operational management in accordance with the production program of the construction organization, its structure, possible customer requirements, with the use of modern software packages to significantly improve the quality of operational management in construction. Changes in the process of operational management of construction production should be aimed primarily at eliminating backlogs in the implementation of weekly and daily work schedules. To do this, depending on the causes of the backlog, measures are taken to speed up the work, introduce additional changes, eliminate interruptions in the material support of the work and other measures.

Based on the reporting and technical documentation and for the objects under consideration, the authors were able to form resource schedules that reflect the planned and actual values of the labor force for certain time periods. After analyzing the available statistics in terms of the activities of the leading production stream, a number of graphs were compiled showing the movement of these teams at the facilities. Based on these data, the authors determined the average deviation of the actual number of workers in the leading stream from the planned one. Also, the availability of operational information from these objects made it possible to determine the consequences of deviations and a set of measures taken. As a result, the authors analyzed the dynamics of construction of typical facilities of different general contracting organizations, taking into account the scale factor (capacity of the construction organization) , indicating the difference in the values of the planned (predicted) and actual labor resources at the facilities. Possible solutions of this problem with the mathematical modeling of stable labor force distribution system at sites followed by a possible optimization of the objective function on limitations have been determined. Safe corridors of fluctuations in the values of the labor force, as well as the fundamental foundations of the optimization method, have been also determined.

The processes of environmental factors are milieu-focus, which  can influence the knowledge sharing in construction organization. This study examines the possible effect of environmental factors in respect to managerial leadership, strategy/planning and culture on the relationship to the knowledge sharing.  The study was carried out on project managers in construction organizations in Nigeria using a stratified random sample of 323 of  different designations. A hypothesized model of knowledge sharing, and environmental factors was tested using structural equation modeling approach, and a proposed model was therefore developed. All the factor loadings were significant, leading to a prudent model achievement. The study serves as a guide to the construction managers for sharing knowledge in the construction organization. The finding indicated that environmental factors demonstrated significant influence on knowledge sharing.

The subject of the research is management systems used in construction organizations and methods of decision support while choosing the system of management. The purpose of the work is to offer a method of decision support for managing a construction organization when choosing a transition to a process management approach or a project-oriented management approach. The article emphasizes the relevance of improving the quality of enterprise management in construction industry, and provides an overview of domestic and foreign literature on improving management methods. The study substantiates the need for a method to support decision-making while shifting to a new management system. The authors propose a method based on the evaluation criteria obtained through a survey of the company's management. The proposed method helps managers and founders to make a decision concerning the choice of management system and warns against erroneous decisions and losses associated with the introduction of a management system “inefficient” for the construction company.

The Korean domestic market is focused on the introduction of BIM (Building Information Modeling) owing to an influx of investment due to increased interest and mandatory application of BIM. However, the rate of BIM introduction is high, while BIM user proficiency is low. Against these problems, the authors proposed an acceptance model for BIM in construction organizations in 2012. As the number of BIM application cases increases and the number of BIM-trained users increases as time goes on, BIM users’ positive perception of BIM values are expected to increase, which may change the BIM acceptance mechanism. Therefore, we conducted a longitudinal study of the 2012 BIM acceptance model against 2019 data to estimate changes in factors affecting BIM acceptance attitudes as well as the mechanism of the relationships between factors over time spent using the technology. To generalize the results, the respondents were spread across construction sites. The data obtained 119 samples from a sample of experienced users of BIM. We used AMOS 21.0 for hypothesis testing of structural equation modeling (SEM), and the 2019 BIM acceptance model was compared against the 2012 acceptance model using an independent sample t-test. As a result, it was confirmed that the 2012 BIM acceptance model is still suitable for describing the BIM acceptance mechanism of the construction organization, and there was a difference between the 2012 model and the 2019 model. This seems to have changed the mechanism of BIM acceptance by being change perception of BIM users as time goes on. The results of this study can be used to establish a BIM activation strategy for each BIM acceptance stage and are expected to be applicable to establishing a BIM activation strategy for construction organizations or countries with similar BIM acceptance stage.

The construction organizations lack adaptive infrastructure. It is required to use more intensively SMART-technologies of design and construction. Purposes of this article: a) the system analysis of categories "competitiveness", "stability", "rating of the company" for the construction organizations; b) to construct and investigate economic and mathematical model of competitiveness of the construction organization; c) to determine parameters of self-organization of construction company; d) to construct an identification algorithm for model. These new tasks also answer the purposes of modern construction business, problems of forecasting of its development. Using methods of the system analysis and modeling, in work three levels of the analysis of construction business are considered: macrolevel (level of the state), mesolevel (level of the region) and microlevel (level of the company). For example, 10 various classes of competitiveness of construction companies are offered. It improves the classification used traditionally. The new economic and mathematical model on the basis of production functions of type of Cobb-Douglas is constructed. The algorithm of its identification on the basis of situational scenarios is also developed. The algorithm finds parameters which will allow to define competitiveness of construction company a priori. The offered research has a development, for example, is possible to use for the forecast of adaptation of the enterprise.

Personnel Performance Appraisal (PPA) is a Human Resource Management (HRM) tool which helps to improve individual performance and there by enhance organization and industry performance at large. However, Personnel performance appraisal practice in construction organizations is poor. This is associated with lack of clear performance measurement dimensions. The purpose of this paper is to identify personnel performance appraisal dimensions for Indian construction organizations. In this study mixed method approach is adopted, different performance appraisal dimensions were identified through literature review and a questionnaire was developed. Also, semi structured interviews with professionals from construction organization was conducted. The survey has identified 7 Key performance dimensions. Additional performance dimensions applied in construction organizations were identified through the interviews and were categorized in to quantitative and qualitative dimensions. The interview findings show that the quantitative measures are given more attention than qualitative measures in the organizations. Effective performance appraisal system needs setting objective dimensions to measure performance. The qualitative and quantitative dimensions identified in this study will help construction organizations to improve their personnel performance appraisal system in particular and the HRM practice in general

General optimization models for the dimensional synthesis of defect-free Revolute-Cylindrical-Cylindrical-Cylindrical linkages with static loading are formulated and evaluated in this work. With these optimization models, Revolute-Cylindrical-Cylindrical-Cylindrical linkage dimensions required to approximate coupler positions or coupler path points while achieving static equilibrium (given coupler loads) within a maximum driver static torque are calculated. These models also include constraints that eliminate order, branch and circuit defects-defects that are common in traditional dyad-based dimensional synthesis. Therefore, the novelty of this work is the development of optimization models that permit the synthesis of order, branch and circuit defect-free Revolute-Cylindrical-Cylindrical-Cylindrical motion and path generators that also achieve static equilibrium within a maximum specified driver torque magnitude for specified coupler loads. This work conveys both the benefits and drawbacks realized when implementing these optimization models on a personal computer using the commercial mathematical analysis software package Matlab.
