At present, an understanding of the teaching practices at university and the opinion of students about these practices is limited, at least in certain knowledge areas. Given this diagnosis and in the context of Social Sciences Didactics, we consider it important to analyze teaching practices and how they impact future teachers. Consequently, concerned about the quality of training offered to students, this study aims to know their opinion about which teaching practices they consider most appropriate to train in Social Sciences Didactics, once they finish the subjects related to this area. To this end, a non-experimental quantitative design has been used, involving collecting information through a questionnaire completed by 875 students from seven Spanish universities studying for the Degree in Primary Education. The data was analyzed from a triple perspective, an analysis of the descriptive statistics of the items contemplated in this research, the existing correlations between them, and a statistical analysis based on the gender variable. The results show that the treatment of controversial issues and the didactic outings outside the university classroom are the strategies most valued by the students in teaching specific content of the subject Social Sciences Didactics. The results also show significant differences in the responses to each item depending on the gender variable. We conclude that students widely value university teaching practices related to implementing active methodologies, analyzing current social and environmental issues, and collaborative work dynamics. Likewise, it is observed that women have, on the whole, a better opinion than men regarding these types of methodologies and strategies.

Abstract Teacher training constitutes a structural determinant of the progress of countries and of people's opportunities. In turn, the quality of the university academic body is a fundamental element that explains the training processes. In this context, the objective of the research is to analyze the relevance of university teaching staff, specifically, in the processes of initial teacher training. The research is qualitative and descriptive in nature that, through an interview with 20 key actors, uses grounded theory and axial analysis for an in-depth study of the underlying relationships between the dimensions under evaluation. The results show that the quality of university professors is of the utmost importance, as students have disadvantages in their preparation of origin and, even more so, when educators have the responsibility of the integral preparation of their students and are the model on which is projected the performance of future teachers. It is concluded that the quality of the academic body constitutes an essential element in the intellectual, professional and value preparation of those who will act as future teachers, since the former are the main reference that students have in their training process.

University teaching is the target of intensified policy making. The policies’ purpose is sometimes to solve a specific problem but always to demonstrate the ‘quality’ of the institution. Policies also seek to normalise university teaching practices according to value-laden ideas of what those practices should be. Normalisation exacts a painful price: by necessity it produces the abnormal, the unethical, even the unspeakable. This paper explores the normalising force of teaching policies as they are plugged into the assemblage of a becoming-teacher and wonders about the possibilities for activism in relation to that force. In an open-ended process of clouded agency, the wilful human self of Becoming-TeacherBGstruggles with and against new norms: if she is to stay recognisable as a good academic subject, she must negotiate with them. Yet, it’s not all up to her. Composed from complex alliances between teaching places and technologies, teaching (and taught) selves, teaching policies and curriculum materials, Becoming-TeacherBGis sometimes undone by the new norms and sometimes refuses them. This paper offers a ‘critical view from the body’ ( Haraway, 1988 : 859) with respect to university teaching policies in order to inspire conversation about the varied ground and nature of everyday academic activisms – including some that might look like a lack of activism – with the goal of encouraging them to flourish as spaces of freedom and refusal towards a better university. Such (in)activisms seek to change the business-as-usual of the university, usually at a micropolitical level, but they may also set larger changes in motion.

This study aims to show the importance of evaluating the teaching performance level of the University teaching members. It also aims to provide the suggested mechanisms for evaluating the teaching performance of the teaching staff members of Sebha University. This study was based mainly on documents and analytic description to collect information about the importance and ways of evaluating teachers with reference to some of the international experiences on teaching performance development. This study concluded that the absence of an experienced entity that would develop the teaching performance of faculty members is one of the main reasons for the weak teaching performance at Sebha University. Based on the results of the study, it is recommended that there should be a planned system based on measured standards and criteria for evaluating staff members to improve the quality of teaching in the higher education domain.

AbstractThe principal goal of the investigation exposed to continuation was to define and to measure the types and levels of technological use in students of recently entry to the university and analyzing the eventual relation with other variables (personal, socioeconomic, technological previous training, academic). Situate in the Faculty of Administrative and Social Sciences (FCAyS) of the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC), including to a part of the students that entry in the first semester of the 2008 (2008-1) in his different licentiates. The results demonstrate that the principal types of technology that the students use more frequent and skillfully they do not coincide necessarily with those programs/means that they consider to be more important as support in the frame of their studies. In turn, the levels of technology use can be defined from the quantity and quality of use of the PC of the students and the above mentioned levels they prove to be partners to certain variables as genre, age, possession of PC and Internet in home and technological previous training.

The subject of the article is the formation of professional culture of students; it is considered in order to improve the work on its formation in the educational process at the University, in particular-in RIPB-on the material of training economists, lawyers and customs officers. The authors describe professional culture as a set of special knowledge and practical skills of a person as an “employeeˮ, implemented in a specific type of socially significant work, emphasize that it is based on the universal values of a professional as a «person». Therefore, the formation of professional culture is inseparable from the socio-humanitarian development of students, carried out in the course of studying the relevant disciplines. According to the authors, any professional culture has its own organization (in our case - University), which is based on a particular professional activity (in particular, University training), while it embodies a Form that is subject to “fillingˮ with the specific Content of various activities as socially institutionalized pro-fessions. As conclusions, the following problems are substantiated: introduction of a special course “Professional cultureˮ; overcoming “departmentalˮ disciplinarity in the study of socio-humanitarian and professional dis-ciplines; improving the quality of “formalˮ training of students in the conditions of digitalization and comput-erization; development of a culture of extracurricular forms of professional work.

The university as an institution plays a key role in its role in improving the quality of life of people. On the other hand, education is shown as a fundamental pillar to achieving an ideal configuration of a heterogeneous, diversified, organized, and inclusive society. Teamwork and respect among the people who are part of the academic community are reflected in the development of the teaching units that make up the Teaching Guides adapted to the European Education Area. With this premise, the objective of this research is to establish the interrelationship between inclusive education in the university and the tourism industry. To this end, it will be analysed to what extent the Tourism Degree curriculum contains subjects related to inclusiveness, particularly with aspects such as disability and mobility. A thorough literature review on this field of study and the analysis of real cases of a sample of Spanish universities is carried out.

Students now have information processing behaviors characterized by rapid shifts in attention, less reflection and failure to deploy metacognitive processes, preferring activities that bring immediate rewards for their information needs, even if the quality of the information they obtain is low. Consequently, they run into significant difficulties in the selection and critical evaluation of the information they find during university learning activities. This article presents two information literacy training initiatives addressing these issues at the University of Padova (Italy): one in a course in educational technologies offered as part of a second-cycle degree program, and the other in two of the university library system's training facilities. The training workshops sought to be complementary, covering both the search engine and the library OPAC approach to information seeking.
