Listening has been identified as a key workplace skill, important for ensuring high-quality communication, building relationships, and motivating employees. However, recent research has increasingly suggested that speaker perceptions of good listening do not necessarily align with researcher or listener conceptions of good listening. While many of the benefits of workplace listening rely on employees feeling heard, little is known about what constitutes this subjective perception. To better understand what leaves employees feeling heard or unheard, we conducted 41 interviews with bank employees, who collectively provided 81 stories about listening interactions they had experienced at work. Whereas, prior research has typically characterized listening as something that is perceived through responsive behaviors within conversation, our findings suggest conversational behaviors alone are often insufficient to distinguish between stories of feeling heard vs. feeling unheard. Instead, our interviewees felt heard or unheard only when listeners met their subjective needs and expectations. Sometimes their needs and expectations could be fulfilled through conversation alone, and other times action was required. Notably, what would be categorized objectively as good listening during an initial conversation could be later counteracted by a failure to follow-through in ways expected by the speaker. In concert, these findings contribute to both theory and practice by clarifying how listening behaviors take on meaning from the speakers' perspective and the circumstances under which action is integral to feeling heard. Moreover, they point toward the various ways listeners can engage to help speakers feel heard in critical conversations.

The 11th Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Applications (TAAI 2006), which was held during Dec. 15-16, 2006 at Kaohsiung, Taiwan, is the annual conference of Taiwanese Association for Artificial Intelligence. The conference is intended to provide a forum for researchers and scholars in the related fields of artificial intelligence. Past conferences have proven them successful attempts to become the most important meeting of artificial intelligence researchers in Taiwan. This is also true for TAAI 2006, which focuses on various aspects on theory and practice of artificial intelligence. In this special issue, 11 papers presented in the conference are selected and extended for their outstanding performance on the conference. These papers cover wide spreading aspects, which include versatile motion planning, particle swarm optimization, data mining, image retrieval, music retrieval, natural language processing, navigation, fuzzy logic, gaming, and bioinformatics. This issue thus concisely summarizes recent advances in artificial intelligence and its applications. The readers should find them valuable and inspiring. We hope that this issue should provide a valuable resource for their researches. Religious life in all eras is accompanied not only by real facts, but also by their subjective perception. It is fixed not so much reality as the imagination of it. Among the common beliefs, a special place belongs to stereotypes, which, on the one hand, systematize and generalize ideas about the world, helping people to adequately perceive and interpret being, and on the other - preserving these ideas, which sometimes prevents people from entering new life. History has given rise to many religious stereotypes, by virtue of which the constitution and preservation of ethnic groups, nations, religious communities, and confessions took place. However, uncontrolled domination, and especially the use of these stereotypes in the theory and practice of social and individual existence, led to complications in the functioning of ethno-religious communities, to their struggle, even destruction, resulting in the disappearance of some and other ethnicities, nations, religions. and churches. The reality of the society in which we live is on

The article describes the theory and practice of inclusion of future physical education teacher in the process of refinement of the socialization concept. A productive study and clarification of the socialization concept is carried out in the courses of Theoretical Pedagogy and Practical pedagogy. The specificity of identifying and solving the problems of socialization depends on the involvement of future PE teachers in scientific and pedagogical research of optimal possibilities for personality development in the constructs of self-realization and self-affirmation. The determination of the socialization category is a complex pedagogically corrected process. The quality of the detailed definitions in the professional education model is a unique tool that guarantees a high quality of solution for developmental issues. The specifics of the choice of the direction for the specification of socialization category depend on the sport chosen by future PE teachers. The quality of socialization as a product of anthropo-sphere and education evolution can be learned from the portfolio kept by the student. The features of high-quality solutions are defined in the pedagogical constructs and pedagogical conditions of modern education, and socialization is no exception as a multidimensional phenomenon and the product of social and educational relations. The specificity of the clarification of the socialization category can be found in the structure of the module "Social pedagogy", "Pedagogy of physical culture and sport", "Sociology of Sport." The Kemerovo State University (Novokuznetsk branch) pays special attention at the technology of system-pedagogical modeling that makes it possible to include future PE teachers into modeling and specification of "socialization" category.

In a matched sample survey of bank employees and customers, it was found that the employees' perception of the service orientation [SERVOR] of the banks, is positively correlated with the customers' perception of their overall service quality [SQUAL]. Service firm managers should take note that in the absence of direct control of the service encounter, organizational practices and procedures that treat service as top priority, are also likely to succeed in delivering service of high quality.

Culture heritage will always remain one of the priorities of any state. Taking a cultural or historical object under protection is impossible without inventory. The best technology, which allows getting high-quality inventory, is close-range photogrammetry. Unfortunately, the full capabilities of this technology is fully owned by professionals only. The situation changed significantly with the advent of mobile devices that are equipped with digital cameras and low-cost software that does not require any special knowledge in the theory and practice of photogrammetry. These developments have been called lowcost photogrammetry technologies. In the present study, we examined the use of smartphones and nano UAV and PhotoScan software for solve the problem fortifications II World War inventory near the city of Kiev. For qualitative data, the calibration of digital cameras in smartphones and ultra-light UAV was performed on calibration bench. One of the features of this project was the integration of the terrestrial photos and photos captured by nano UAVs. As a result of work performed were obtained 3D models of fortifications. Results showed high efficiency of the low-cost photogrammetry technologies. At the end of work some practical guidelines were provided, how to get high-quality data using low-cost photogrammetry technologies.

Purpose Building Information Modelling (BIM) is becoming the new norm in the AEC industry and also part of many construction project management (CPM) programmes. The purpose of this paper is to address the difficulty and challenges in walking the narrow line between an industry-ready BIM and a BIM that is good for student learning and offers a realistic and practical, but simultaneously achievable, learning environment. Design/methodology/approach An action research was conducted in an undergraduate CPM education setting. Findings Key challenges encountered were availability of appropriate teaching and learning resources for BIM; finding the balance between theory and practice, technology and process, and traditional and emerging CPM methods; and facilitating staff’s professional development. Closer look was given to the teaching and learning resources for BIM. Theoretical resources that are available for education in the form of books, articles and websites are easy and straightforward to locate. Likewise, a good share of various tools are available for educational purposes. On the other hand, actual building models represent a challenge in terms of preparing and optimising usage of the model for high-quality educational purposes. Several different approaches for obtaining BIM resources were identified with various challenges and benefits. Originality/value The results and recommendations will assist educators to better understand and overcome the practical challenges related to BIM education, especially those related to teaching and learning resources.
