A smart helmet is a wearable device that has attracted attention in various fields, especially in applied sciences, where extensive studies have been conducted in the past decade. In this study, the current status and trends of smart helmet research were systematically reviewed. Five research questions were set to investigate the research status of smart helmets according to the year and application field, as well as the trend of smart helmet development in terms of types of sensors, microcontrollers, and wireless communication technology. A total of 103 academic research articles published in the past 11 years (2009–2020) were analyzed to address the research questions. The results showed that the number of smart helmet applications reported in literature has been increasing rapidly since 2018. The applications have focused mostly on ensuring the safety of motorcyclists. A single-board-based modular concept unit, such as the Arduino board, and sensor for monitoring human health have been used the most for developing smart helmets. Approximately 85% of smart helmets have been developed to date using wireless communication technology to transmit data obtained from smart helmets to other smart devices or cloud servers.

It would be difficult to find a veteran end user who is unwilling to share at least one “war story” concerning a computer virus. Viruses are, and undoubtedly will continue to be, a fact of life in the end user computing community. Many tales of bouts with computer viruses contain a good measure of embellishment, and many computer mishaps attributed to viruses are truly due to “pilot error.” Regardless of these facts, computer viruses are a problem worth addressing. This paper considers the past and current status of computer viruses and “defensive computing,” and the degree to which the situation has been clouded by hype, misinformation, and misunderstanding. While the coining of the term computer virus is attributable to Fred Cohen in conjunction with his 1983 academic research on a DEC VAX platform (Cobb, 1998), the phenomenon and did not become a concern to users of application systems until almost ten years later. In 1987, occurrences first appeared in several universities, and shortly thereafter in corporate settings. In today’s environment, the computer virus threat clearly impacts every computer user in one way or another. The degree of impact is not as clear, however.

Corporate governance is not only one of the important issues of modern enterprise management, but also a hot topic in academic research. Bibliometric analysis of the current status of global corporate governance research in the past five years can help researchers and decision-makers grasp the main trends in corporate governance at present and in the future. The purpose of this research is to analyze the current status, hot spots and trends of corporate governance research in the past five years. Using the core collection of the WOS database as the data source, we searched English language journals related to corporate governance and obtained 607 literature search results. We utilize bibliometric methods and use CiteSpace to conduct statistical analysis and visual analysis. Through statistical literature publication year, country (region), author and literature citation situation, draw keyword co-occurrence map, research hotspot map, clustering map, burst hotspot map, systematically show the corporate governance research field in the past 5 years Basic information, research hotspots and development trends.The research results show that the number of corporate governance-related documents has continued to increase in the past five years. The United States, the United Kingdom, China, Spain, and Australia are the five countries with the largest number of corporate governance studies. The top 5 most cited authors are M.C. Jensen, A. Shleifer, E.F. Fama, R.La. Porta and P. Gompers. Among the top 10 most cited documents, the most cited are 178 words and the least cited 65 times. Research hotspots in corporate governance include agency theory, emerging market, capital structure, family firms, and real earnings management. Future research trends include merger, ownership concentration, equity and institution.

Abstract The project Pottery Goes Public explores the potential of 3D analytical tools to assess to what extent they can provide us with new interpretations and insights into the technological aspects of ancient pottery manufacturing. However, developing innovative 3D imaging techniques for ceramic analysis is not the only aim of the project. Since its inception, Pottery Goes Public has been designed to involve a wider audience not only into the study of ancient potting techniques, but also into the very process of carrying out the research. As advocated by the proponents of a reflexive approach to archaeology, in order to make the past relevant to contemporary society it is imperative for the archaeologist to include all interested parties into every stage of the analysis, from the formulation of the research questions to the dissemination of outputs. In this sense, the deployment of modern 3D technologies proved to be an indisputably powerful medium of communication and interaction with the public at large. Performing live archaeological research with cutting edge tools is a key step towards opening up academic research to multiple actors and actively engaging them with the archaeological interpretative process.

AbstractThis literature presents a comprehensive, technical review of circularly polarized (CP) antennas for different applications in wireless communication, emphasizing on the recent developments in the concerned research. The article also presents a comparative study of various works reported in the open literature, with an aim to highlight the contribution of CP antenna systems in the chronological development of the wireless communication technology. The primary motive of this review is to (a) highlight the methodologies used by different researchers to portray and analyze the different aspects in which CP antennas find their applications in modern-day wireless communication, (b) provide a practical viewpoint of the future scope of the study, based upon the past and present state-of-art research trends and (c) provide a conceptual and technical support to present-day antenna designers to help the process of furtherance of innovation and multiple system integration. In conclusion, the article also throws some light upon the future scope of research in the vast domain of CP antenna applications.

Bluetooth wireless communication technology has spread rapidly in the past 20 years. It has made life much easier with all the devices that use Bluetooth technology around us such as mobile phones, laptops, and watches. With all the good and useful applications of Bluetooth technology, it has been used in harmful and bad ways such as cheating in an examination. In this article, parameter design considerations have been discussed for a follower jammer to interrupt a Bluetooth network, especially when it is used in unauthorized way. The effects of the follower jammer were studied and tested. The effects were calculated for time and jamming-over-signal ratio for three different distances (1, 5, and 10 m). The testing showed that the follower jammer designed was successful in disrupting the Bluetooth signal.

Abstract Every year, more historians and scholars in related humanities disciplines are using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and mapping technology in their research. The field of spatial history/spatial humanities is growing. Yet, many scholars are still unaware of the potential of using mapping technology to interpret the past and further their academic research. Mapping helps us to see the movement of people and ideas over time and thereby raises new research questions. This article seeks to introduce readers to the field of spatial history and to illustrate the potential of GIS by examining the medieval pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. In particular, the article uses spatial analysis to add further evidence that Aimeric Picaud, the author of the twelfth-century Pilgrim’s Guide to Santiago de Compostela, likely did not make the trip as described in his text.

Asthma rates in the US have risen during the past 25 years, as have asthma-related morbidity and healthcare costs. Professional organizations involved in asthma care have identified the need to assure that an advanced level of asthma knowledge and skill is available to patients with asthma, their families, and insurers. This need led to development of the certification for asthma educators. The Certified Asthma Educator (AE-C) must meet specific clinical criteria and pass a standardized examination designed to evaluate knowledge and skill for providing competent asthma education and coordination. The development and current status of the Certified Asthma Educator examination process and content are discussed, as are goals of the certification

The basic aim of this paper is to present the existing conditions and problems of water resources management in Greece. Water demand has increased tremendously over the past 30 years. Despite adequate precipitation, water imbalance is often experienced, due to temporal and regional variations of the precipitation, the increased water demand during the summer months and the difficulty of transporting water due to the mountainous terrain. Integration of reclaimed wastewater originating from the wastewater treatment plant effluents into the water resources management is proposed. This plan exhibits the potential for reducing the pollution loads entering sea or inland waters, while at the same time providing water for irrigation.
