This paper deals with the application of an electric vehicle (EV) motor inverter and its batteries as an energy storage device supporting the operation of home electrical installation. This additional functionality of EV is called a Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) service. Two kind of services are considered: a peak shaving and an emergency power supply. The simulation model developed in the PSCAD program is presented. It allows for the examination of the EV battery control and operation during EV driving and parking. Additionally, it allows an evaluation of the availability of home installation for the V2H service. Control algorithms enabling the implementation of discussed work options are presented. Results of simulations are presented illustrating the EV control and operation in different operational modes.

The article presents a process of designing the photovoltaic (PHV) converters system for an electric vehicle, shows the scheme of photovoltaic converters usage, the results of electric vehicle motion modeling with photovoltaic converters, and the results of road tests of an electric vehicle with an additional power source based on photovoltaic converters. The photovoltaic converters system and low-voltage system of an electric vehicle have a shared low-voltage battery, which allows the implementation of two schemes of electric vehicle power supply. Initially, the aggregate base was selected, then, taking into account the efficiency of each device included in the design of the new electric vehicle, mathematical modeling was carried out and showed good efficiency results of the photovoltaic converters system. Then, the prototype was manufactured and tested. The aggregate base included the battery of photovoltaic converters assembled in a certain way on the vehicle roof, the MPPT (maximum power point tracking) controller, the buffer storage device in the form of a 12 V battery, and the DC (direct current) converter that allows transmitting electricity from the buffer battery to the high-voltage system. Modeling of the electric vehicle motion considered typical operating modes, including energy costs for the operation of assistant systems of the electric vehicle, as well as including the consumption of low-voltage components. The tests were carried out according to the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle). As a result, implementation of photovoltaic converters with 21% efficiency allowed for the power reserve of the electric vehicle to be increased by up to 9%.

The problem of increasing energy saving and energy efficiency in the system of traction power supply of the Moscow Metro is considered due to the use of energy storage devices of uncontrolled type. The results of simulation modeling of the operation of an energy storage device of uncontrolled type in the system of traction power supply of the subway are presented.A particular line of the Moscow Metro, Filevskaya, was studied, on which experiments on the introduction of energy storage devices based on electrochemical super capacitors were conducted. With the help of experimental measurements, the electric power indicators of the operation of a stationary energy storage device had been obtained at regular service on the traction substation of the Filevskaya line of the Moscow Metro for several months. The maximum levels of the converted energies, the cyclicity, the efficiency of the plant operation, and the amount of the energy economy are determined.By statistical processing of the instantaneous values of the performance of the traction substation with the accumulator and the analysis of the data of the energy monitoring of the Moscow metro, an important parameter of reducing the installed capacity was investigated. The similarity of the data of theoretical calculations and experimental measurements is shown.

The article discusses the power supply system of an industrial enterprise, which included a turbine generator plant operating on the basis of a synchronous generator equipped with predictive voltage and rotor speed controllers, as well as a high-power electric energy storage device. A description of the models of this plant, predictive controllers and energy storage, as well as the results of modeling when the system goes into an isolated mode of operation are given. Simulation was performed in MATLAB environment using Simulink and SimPowerSystems packages. The purpose of the work was to study the behavior of the proposed predictive controllers during the transition of the power supply system to the island (isolated) mode. Based on the results of computer simulation, it was concluded that the use of predictive controllers improves the damping properties of the system. The use of an energy storage device that is automatically connected to the network when the voltage drops, allows to reduce the overvoltage at the terminals of the generator during its unloading, as well as to reduce the required mechanical power on the turbine shaft in comparison with a permanently connected device. Predictive controllers can be recommended to increase the stability of distributed generation plants when switching to an isolated mode. It is advisable to conduct further research in the direction of creating algorithms for coordinated operation of controllers

Although the October 10, 1986 San Salvador earthquake was only a moderate event of magnitude 5.4 and the recorded ground motions had a relatively short duration, the high recorded peak accelerations caused substantial damage to lifelines. There was significant and widespread damage to buried lifelines. Long-distance telecommunications facilities were reportedly undamaged, but there was substantial loss of local phone service caused by damage to buildings, failures of equipment racks, and loss of emergency power (tilting of batteries). Power generating facilities (hydroelectric and geothermal) that supply electricity to San Salvador are located too far from the city to have been affected by the earthquake. Both 115-kV substations that serve San Salvador experienced a moderate level of damage, consisting mostly of ceramic column circuit breaker failures. As has been observed in past earthquakes, control and instrumentation systems and low-voltage power-supply equipment displayed an ability to withstand high ground accelerations.

Abstract The paper describes control algorithms for a combined power plant made according to a sequential scheme for a 6x6 mining dump truck. The general approaches used in the development of control systems for similar power plants and transmissions are described. The methods of testing and simulation mathematical models used to analyze the operation of control systems for combined power plants are presented. As an example of control systems, the architecture of the developed system used for a mining dump truck is given. The developed control system and simulation model make it possible to analyze the behavior of the traction motor, energy storage device, transmission elements, and operational properties.

This study verifies the concept and test of the MNPS owing to the increase in advanced weapon systems used in the Korean defense field. MNPS used solar power to eliminate noise, a risk factor of the existing power supply systems, and it was designed in a size that can be mounted on a small tactical vehicle in various battlefield situations. When sunlight is used as a power supplier, in case there is no light, its use is limited; therefore, it can be used after charging through an energy storage device. In addition, it was designed considering scalability to increase the amount of electricity generated through the solar panel or increase the storage capacity. Finally, the power characteristics were analyzed through a test to determine if the output was constant, and through this, it was possible to confirm its feasibility of use for military purposes.
