Syros Island, Cyclades complex, central Aegean Sea, Greece, is a prime locality for the study of processes active in deep levels of orogens and is world famous for its exceptionally well preserved glaucophane schist-to eclogite-facies lithologies. Glaucophane schists and eclogites are witnesses of one of the fundamental tectonic processes operating on planet Earth. Results of geological research on Syros have contributed a lot to our present understanding of why and how these processes work that make oceans disappear, how mountain ranges can start to form, how magma chambers form to feed volcanoes, how subduction mechanisms can trigger earthquakes and lead to tsunamis, and a series of other spectacular or very impressive phenomena which have been observed and studied throughout the earth’s window offered in that particular place of the world. The description, interpretation, and evaluation of the important geological heritage of Syros, in combination with a SWOT analysis, showed the geotourism potential of the region. The results of this paper are intended to constitute a valuable tool for enhancing and raising awareness of the geological heritage of the island of Syros, regarding to the added value activities to be developed on a sustainable basis.

The island of Kalymnos, located in the Dodecanese island complex in the SE Aegean, is known for its sponge fishing but also for its world-famous climbing fields. Indeed, the island is considered the “Mecca” of climbers. Nevertheless, Kalymnos is characterized by moderate tourist traffic and lack of tourism infrastructure. The planning and development of geotourism can be a driving force for the economic sustainability of the island. In this study, the possibility of developing the innovative and alternative form of geotourism on the island of Kalymnos is explored. Kalymnos is characterized by numerous caves and steep slopes which can be geotopes attractive to visitors. Six caverns and two climbing fields were analyzed as part of our investigation. For the quantitative assessment of the geosites three factors are considered: the potential educational use (PEU), the potential touristic use (PTU), and the degradation risk (DR). The quantitative evaluation in combination with a SWOT analysis showed that there is indeed a possibility of promotion and development of geotourism in combination with the protection of the island’s geotopes. This will give additional impetus to the economy of Kalymnos. However, the lack of awareness from local authorities and residents is evident. The need for training in matters related to the geological heritage is necessary. In this way, there will be geotourism development, contributing positively to the economic prosperity and sustainability of the island.

Research background: Currently, it is constantly increasing emphasis on the satisfaction of employees in the company. One way to satisfy them through internal marketing communication. Set them training according to their needs and interests and allow them to grow their career growth. It is also the provision of information on time at the required range and especially to be up to date. As a result, employees can perform their work efficiently and work to achieve the required result that the enterprise expects. It is necessary for this internal communication in the company took place both directions for many companies. It follows that finance inserted into education of employees; it will return to a business in an even greater range. Purpose of the article: The aim of this research is to analyses the use of the tools of the communication mix in the field of internal marketing communication of the selected company. Methods: SWOT analysis, Deduction, Comparison. Findings & Value added: Internal marketing communication in chosen company is on high level, according to analyzing tools and results of SWOT analysis. Added value is finding a level of internal marketing communication for company and creating some points for continuing in building quality internal marketing communication.

The purpose of the study is to assess the technological transformation of the manufacturing industry in Russia, taking into account the digital factor. The analysis of a set of methods that can be used to assess the impact of technologies on the digital transformation of economic systems (country, industry, region, industrial enterprise) is carried out; the results of a SWOT analysis of the Russian manufacturing industry for the medium term are presented (as an initial stage for the subsequent development of functional strategies of industrial enterprises-digital transformation, innovative, competitive, etc.); the results of a survey of experts on a sample of industrial enterprises of the Arkhangelsk region regarding barriers and prospects of digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises are summarized; an economic and mathematical model of the influence of production factors, including the digital factor, on the value added created by the manufacturing industry is developed. Based on the analysis and modeling of the formation of added value in the manufacturing industry, taking into account the contribution of each of the factors of production, a set of solutions is proposed, on the basis of which it is possible to give a new impetus to accelerate the digital transformation of the industry.

National defense management, based on inclusive growth drivers, is a multiple-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem, which is affected by several conflicting factors like socio-economic dimension and security expenditure. The defense expenditure in its pursuit of closer ties with the regional development has sought to turn structural weaknesses into added value and has attempted to develop a distinctive, nonthreatening profile building around the lack of a political baggage and geopolitical ambitions. In this chapter, SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats)-based fuzzy AHP-TOPSIS model is proposed and is utilized to determine criteria and alternatives. Moreover, fuzzy set theory is employed to deal with the vagueness of human thought. Then, SWOT yardsticks integrated with AHP-TOPSIS calculate the performances of the alternative insights, based on the above-mentioned criteria. The result shows that the most important task of defense authority is to tackle the threats of nation while the “weakness-threat” is the alternative of priority to get the ideal state of defense management.

Potential and opportunities for cassava development are still very broad along with development of companies in livestock, processed food, and other industries. Added value of cassava commodities resulting from development of downstream industries (processed products) is far higher than upstream industries (primary products), so that development paradigm in agriculture sector in future should be directed towards product expansion including its waste. This study aims to examine the economic value of cassava as a future crop from direct as well as by-products and their development strategies. Data was collected from small-scale tapioca flour farmers, ranchers and entrepreneurs. SWOT analysis was used to determine relevant development strategies. Analysis shows that cassava has an potential, especially as a raw material for food and feed industry. In short term, developing cassava strategy as an industrial raw material is to use new technologies i.e. varieties and cultivation techniques for planting arrangements. Cassava potential economic value is relatively high in terms of farming aspects, food raw materials, feed and industry. This potential, apart from main product, is also by-product that has been neglected at 29.7% of cassava main value. By-products potensial has not been used optimally and a bioeconomic value of biomass that can support integrated agriculture in the future.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyusun strategi yang tepat dalam peningkatan nilai tambah andaliman (Zantoxylum Acanthopodium) di Kabupaten Toba Samosir yang mempengaruhi ekonomi pemangku kepentingan. Langkah-langkah yang dilakukan ialah: i) pengumpulan informasi produksi disentra penghasil andaliman yaitu Kecamatan Habinsaran, Bor-bor, Nassau, Lumban Julu, Ajibata, dan Silaen, ii) identifikasi/analisis model rantai pasok iii) menganalisis peran/pengaruh serta pemetaan para pemangku kepentingan iv) analisis nilai tambah setiap mata rantai pada rantai pasokan. Terdapat dua jenis metode yang diaplikasikan dan termasuk dalam deskriptif-eksploratif. Pertama, metode kualitatif mencakup studi literatur dalam memperoleh data/acuan pengerjaan, observasi, wawancara dengan pelaku rantai nilai dan pemerintahan. Kedua, metode kuantitatif dengan perhitungan Hayami untuk mengetahui nilai tambah andaliman. Fakta menunjukkan luas lahan produktif pertanian andaliman ± 62,9 Ha dengan kapasitas produksi sebesar ± 417,2 ton/tahun. Terdapat dua model rantai pasokan yaitu andaliman segar dan olahannya. Kemudian pemetaan rantai nilai dilakukan untuk mengetahui nilai R/C dari margin setiap node rantai pasokan. Saat harga andaliman netral hingga tinggi rentang nilai R/C antara 1,08 hingga 1,73 yang menandakan setiap aktor akan untung. Namun apabila harga andaliman rendah nilai R/C antara 0,85 hingga 1,9 dengan keadaan tersebut ada aktor yang sangat dirugikan atau diuntungkan. Hasil terkait peta rantai nilai mengungkapkan rekayasa nilai andaliman belum optimal terbukti dari produk yang dihasilkan rantai pasokan masih jauh dibawah nilai potensial yang mungkin. Analisis SWOT memberi informasi peluang dan tantangan mengembangkan rantai pasok demi meningkatkan nilai produk andaliman. Akhir penelitian ini ialah rekomendasi strategi peningkatan nilai tambah diantaranya, menambah diversifikasi produk, membuat sentra khusus pengolahan andaliman, dll.   This study aims to develop appropriate strategies for increasing the added value of andaliman (Zantoxylum Acanthopodium) in Toba Samosir Regency which affects the economy of stakeholders. The steps taken are: i) gathering information on production of andaliman producing centers namely Habinsaran, Bor-bor, Nassau, Lumban Julu, Ajibata, and Silaen Districts, ii) identification / analysis of supply chain models iii) analyzing the role / influence and mapping of the parties stakeholder iv) value added analysis of each link in the supply chain. There are two types of methods applied and included in the descriptive-exploratory method. First, the qualitative method includes the study of literature in obtaining work data / references, observations, interviews with value chain actors and government. Second, the quantitative method with Hayami's calculation to find out the added value of andaliman. Facts show that the area of productive land of andaliman is ± 62.9 hectares with a production capacity of ± 417.2 tons / year. There are two supply chain models, namely fresh and processed andaliman. Then the value chain mapping is done to find out the R / C value from the margins of each supply chain node. When the reliable price is neutral to high, the R / C value range is between 1.08 and 1.73, which indicates that each actor will profit. However, if the reliable price is low, the R / C value is between 0.85 to 1.9 with this condition, there are actors who are greatly disadvantaged or disadvantaged. The results related to the value chain map revealed that optimal value engineering has not been proven to be optimal from the products produced by the supply chain are far below the potential potential value. SWOT analysis provides information on opportunities and challenges of developing supply chains to increase the value of andaliman products. The end of this research is a recommendation to increase added value strategies, including increasing product diversification, creating special centers for andaliman processing, etc.

Aren is a type of palm that has a highly potential economic value. Semabi, Sekadau Hilir Sub-district is the largest producer in the District of Sekadau; however, it is only processed to produce molded sugar. This study aimed to formulate a strategy for the  palm sugar agrybusiness development in Sekadau District. The research method was a   quantitative descriptive, and the data were processed using IFE/EFE, SPACE and SWOT. The values obtained from IFE and EFE matrixes were 2.57 and 2.65 respectively. From the SWOT analysis, alternative strategies were obtained, namely, SO Strategy: expanding the location of the area sugar palm cultivation, increasing production capacity, and improving the quality of product. WO Strategy: increasing of human resources (farmers), developing a partnership and developing a market information network. ST Strategy: government policies that supporting, increasing the added value and production. WT Strategy: building a support facility of   sugar palm agribusiness, increasing coordination and cooperation among stakeholders in strengthening palm agribusiness, and increasing marketing and promotion for the expansion.  Keyword: Aren (palm),  agrybusiness, IFE/EFE matrixes, SPACE matrix, and SWOT analysis.

Η παρούσα διατριβή διερευνά τη μακροχρόνια παραμόρφωση και τους ενεργούς τεκτονικούς μηχανισμούς που συνέβαλαν στην εξέλιξη και στο σχηματισμό του πολύπλοκου ανάγλυφου του Νοτίου Αιγαίου. Παρά τις γεωλογικές έρευνες που έχουν διεξαχθεί στο Αιγαίο, μέχρι και σήμερα γνωρίζουμε πολύ λίγα για τη γεωδυναμική εξέλιξη του. Αν και είναι ευρέως αποδεκτό ότι στη γεωτεκτονική εξέλιξη της μικρο-πλάκας του Αιγαίου κυριαρχούν κυρίως οι εφελκυστικές διεργασίες παραμόρφωσης που συναντώνται σε ένα back-arc περιβάλλον (οπισθοτόξο), πρόσφατες γεωλογικές, σεισμολογικές και γεωδαιτικές μελέτες έχουν δείξει ότι η συνολικός εφελκυσμός δύναται να περιλαμβάνει και πλαγιό-συμπιεστικές και πλαγιό- εφελκυστικές διεργασίες. Η παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία συνοψίζει την προϋπάρχουσα βιβλιογραφία και τα κύρια μοντέλα παραμόρφωσης που έχουν προταθεί για το Αιγαίο και μέσω της παρουσίασης νέων βαθυμετρικών και σεισμικών δεδομένων στοχεύει στη βελτίωση της κατανόησης των τεκτονικών διεργασιών και των παραμορφώσεων που επικρατούν στο Νότιο Αιγαίο. Προκειμένου να αναπτυχθεί ένα γεωδυναμικό μοντέλο που θα εξηγεί τις κινηματικές διεργασίες και τους μηχανισμούς παραμόρφωσης που έλαβαν χώρα στην περιοχή, ο κύριος άξονας της διατριβής δομείται από τρεις κύριες ερευνητικές εργασίες, τα αποτελέσματα των οποίων παρέχουν νεότερες πληροφορίες για τη γεωδυναμική εξέλιξη του Νοτίου Αιγαίου.

Estimating snowmelt in semi-arid mountain ranges is an important but challenging task, due to the large spatial variability of the snow cover and scarcity of field observations. Adding solar radiation as snowmelt predictor within empirical snow models is often done to account for topographically induced variations in melt rates. This study examines the added value of including different treatments of solar radiation within empirical snowmelt models and benchmarks their performance against MODIS snow cover area (SCA) maps over the 2003-2016 period. Three spatially distributed, enhanced temperature index models that, respectively, include the potential clear-sky direct radiation, the incoming solar radiation and net solar radiation were compared with a classical temperature-index (TI) model to simulate snowmelt, SWE and SCA within the Rheraya basin in the Moroccan High Atlas Range. Enhanced models, particularly that which includes net solar radiation, were found to better explain the observed SCA variability compared to the TI model. However, differences in model performance in simulating basin wide SWE and SCA were small. This occurs because topographically induced variations in melt rates simulated by the enhanced models tend to average out, a situation favored by the rather uniform distribution of slope aspects in the basin. While the enhanced models simulated more heterogeneous snow cover conditions, aggregating the simulated SCA from the 100 m model resolution towards the MODIS resolution (500 m) suppresses key spatial variability related to solar radiation, which attenuates the differences between the TI and the radiative models. Our findings call for caution when using MODIS for calibration and validation of spatially distributed snow models.
