In recent years, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) have proven to be efficient analysis tools for processing point clouds, e.g., for reconstruction, segmentation, and classification. In this article, we focus on the classification of edges in point clouds, where both edges and their surrounding are described. We propose a new parameterization adding to each point a set of differential information on its surrounding shape reconstructed at different scales. These parameters, stored in a Scale-Space Matrix (SSM) , provide a well-suited information from which an adequate neural network can learn the description of edges and use it to efficiently detect them in acquired point clouds. After successfully applying a multi-scale CNN on SSMs for the efficient classification of edges and their neighborhood, we propose a new lightweight neural network architecture outperforming the CNN in learning time, processing time, and classification capabilities. Our architecture is compact, requires small learning sets, is very fast to train, and classifies millions of points in seconds.

The aim of the paper is to explore non-local reverse-space matrix non-linear Schrödinger equations and their inverse scattering transforms. Riemann–Hilbert problems are formulated to analyse the inverse scattering problems, and the Sokhotski–Plemelj formula is used to determine Gelfand–Levitan–Marchenko-type integral equations for generalised matrix Jost solutions. Soliton solutions are constructed through the reflectionless transforms associated with poles of the Riemann–Hilbert problems.

In this paper, we address a system that can accurately locate and monitor work tools in a complex assembly process, such as automotive production. Our positioning monitoring system is positioned by a combined sensor of the UWB module and the MEMS IMU (inertial measuring unit) sensor based on the extended Kalman filter. The MEMS IMU sensor provides the positioning calibration information. The proposed method incorporates IMU and UWB positioning to compensate for errors that can only occur in UWB positioning through the extended Kalman filter (EKT). This EKT is improved by the error dynamic equation derived from the sparse state-space matrix. Also, the proposed method computes the transmission time and distance between the tag and anchor of the UWB module by the TWR (two-way range) system. The tag of a mobile node, which is attached to a moving tool, measures the position of the work tool and transmits the position coordinate data to the anchor. Here, the proposed method uses the trilateration localization method by the confidence distance compensation to prevent the distance error by obstacles and changes in the indoor environment. Experimental results verified that the proposed method confirms whether a specific tool is accurately used according to the prescribed regulations and has more positioning accuracy than the conventional methods.

Photovoltaic power generation systems are one of the main renewable power sources, and quasi-Z-source inverters are becoming powerful devices to integrate these systems in AC grids. However, stability issues due to the damping behaviour of converters must be considered. There are several studies in this direction but instability concerns are not completely solved yet. This paper contributes with a procedure for the stability assessment of photovoltaic power generation systems with quasiZ-source inverters in the frequency domain. The study is based on the small-signal averaged model of the system expressed in the s-domain and the stability criterion derived from the frequency characteristics of the state-space matrix. The influence of the photovoltaic power generation system operating point on stability is studied by the proposed procedure. Eigenvalue analysis and PSCAD/EMTDC simulations are also performed to validate the obtained results.
