Improving the development level of tourism service facilities in historic areas of old cities and realizing the sustainable tourism are important strategies for urban historical protection, economic development, and cultural rejuvenation. Districts at different tourism development stages show different characteristics of tourism service facilities. This study collects location-based service data and uses space syntax to identify the correlation between the distribution of tourism service facilities and street networks, which helps decision-makers to optimize the spatial layout of tourism facilities in the planning of historic areas. Taking the southern historic area of Nanjing, China, as an example, this is an area with a rich collection of cultural heritage and many historic districts, and the study reveals that the areas with strongest street agglomeration and best accessibility, as well as the districts with most mature tourism development, are the core of the tourism facilities. The agglomeration of transportation and accommodation facilities should be set at the traffic nodes as much as possible due to the highest correlation with the street network. Instead, the entertainment, catering, and shopping facilities can be set in the nontraffic node areas under the premise of ensuring good traffic accessibility owing to the insignificantly relationship with the street network. The research results can be used as an important reference for urban decision-makers regarding the planning of historic areas.

This contribution demonstrates how inner ring roads change the location pattern of shops in urban areas with the application of the space syntax method. A market rational behaviour persists, in that shop owners always search for an optimal location to reach as many customers as possible. If the accessibility to this optimal location is affected by changes in a city’s road and street structure, it will affect the location pattern of shops. Initially, case studies of inner ring road projects in Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Bristol, Tampere, and Mannheim show how their realisation affect the spatial structure of the street network of these cities and the location pattern of shops. The results of the spatial integration analyses of the street and road network are discussed with reference to changes in land-use before and after the implementation of ring roads, and current space syntax theories. As the results show, how an inner ring road is connected to and the type of the street network it is imposed upon dictates the resulting location pattern of shops. Shops locate and relocate themselves along the most spatially-integrated streets. Evidence on how new road projects influence the location pattern of shops in urban centres are useful for planning sustainable city centres.

Throughout the urban development process over the last seven decades in Tehran, Iran many self-generated neighbourhoods have developed, in which the majority of the residents are low-income families. The main spatial attribute of these deprived neighbourhoods in space syntax terms is spatial isolation from the surrounding, more affluent areas, which is accompanied by inadequate urban infrastructure and a lack of accessibility and permeability. This paper discusses a method of developing a route filtering system for identifying the most suitable streets for the creation of a pedestrian-friendly network, using an example of a deprived area, in order to integrate it with the surrounding urban fabric. The theory of ‘Natural Movement’ formed the basis of the research, the spatial pattern being analysed through Space Syntax using Depthmap software and GIS. The results showed that it is possible to identify the underlying spatial pattern using this approach and this could form a very cost effective basis for developing a pedestrian friendly street network, in order to release the deprived area from its spatial isolation.

Presently, similar development mode and analogical tourist experience as two key problems have appeared to tourism development in domestic historic districts. This chapter discusses the new thought of tourism revitalization in historic districts in the perspective of tourist experience. Firstly, based on the deep analysis of tourist experience’s essential elements in historic districts, 6E experience mode is established to summarize the tourist experience, which includes Estheticism and nostalgia, Education and culture, Entertainment and leisure, Exchange and communication and Emotion sublimation. Meanwhile, how to build up and enhance every single experience of 6E model in tourism revitalization of historic district is also explained. Secondly, the application of 6E model is demonstrated elaborately in the case of Conceptual Planning of Tourism Development in San-Fang Qi-Xiang Historic District in Fuzhou City. Considering the hierarchy and comprehensibility of tourist experience and combined with site environment analysis, San-Fang Qi-Xiang historic district is divided into four function divisions: Nanhou old street mall, Warmth and leisure lane, Antai water-front zone and Residential blocks for minority customization. The four divisions are distinguished by degrees of bustling and tranquility as well as the hierarchy of experience. This chapter concludes that it is beneficial to utilize 6E model to segment function division and plan products in tourism revitalization of historic districts, because it helps to revitalize and create a fresh appearance with historical continuation in cultural, social and economic aspects. Therefore, it is perceived as a sustainable thought of development.

This study explores the nonlinear impact of globalization on inbound tourism over the period 1995–2014 for 53 countries. The results reveal a nonlinear relationship between globalization and inbound tourism, suggesting that different levels of globalization for countries have varied impacts on inbound tourism development. More globalized countries are able to draw more inbound tourists, but this does not enhance their international tourism receipts (percentage of GDP) and net tourism service exports under a higher level of globalization, indicating that globalization does not necessarily benefit inbound tourism development. Syariah Tourism is growing rapidly due to the high expenditure of the global Muslim market for the tourism sector which leads to the lifestyle and the typical needs of Muslims to be a very important thing to be presented in every tourism service. Aceh as one of the provinces in Indonesia which is known by the implementation of Sharia’ is one of the priority areas of  Syariah Tourism development. However, what and how the halal tourism is is not widely known yet, so that some potencies and resources of halal tourism in Aceh, especially Banda Aceh has not been well developed. This study aims to determine the public perception about Syariah tourism as well as to know what are the potencies and challenges in the development of  Syariah Tourism in Aceh. This research uses the qualitative method with interview and observation. The results show that Syariah tourism is not only understood as a great opportunity for Aceh tourism, but it is also an obligation in Islam and the culture of Acehnese, so it must be implemented in every tourism development in Aceh. Potencies of Syariah Tourism in Aceh is the cultural values of society that is based on Islamic values, Aceh Islamic heritage with religiosity atmosphere, and then tsunami heritage that presents spiritual value to tourists. However, these potencies are also challenging because the belief and stigma that Aceh is majority of Islam, so that all things are 100% halal, so as in terms of hygiene, and service at tourist attractions are still needserious attention Keywords: Syariah Tourism, Aceh, Perception , Potencies, Challenges

Now health tourism based on yoga, Ayurveda and meditation is growing sector in Nepalese Tourism. Health tourism as one of the most important forms of tourism is not an exception and preparing strategies for its development will not be possible without considering its specific and extraordinary environment. The objective of preparing and is writing this research paper is to formulate suitable strategies for health tourism development in Nepal. This study uses a qualitative approach. We conduct 38 semi structured interviews with related stakeholder’s of health tourism in Nepal, including health service providers, tourism service providers (as enterprise), and government officials. It was carried out in 2017 in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, and Pokhara. For strategy formulation, we employ the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis method to examine the internal and external factors comprehensively, in terms of health tourism development in Nepal. The strategy to the health tourism development will be considered in terms of four relations: strengths-opportunities (S-O), weaknesses-opportunities (W-O), strengths-threats (S-T), weakness-threats (W-T). The results of this study show that the strategy in health tourism development in Nepal, it is necessary to work on policy and regulation, promotion and branding, introducing the quality standards for health products and service as well as to establish the institutional support in order to successful implementation for the strategy of the health tourism development in Nepal.

Mobilising the economic potential of the intangible cultural heritage, using it as the tourist attractions is in modern conditions the basis for sustainable development of historical settlements and historic areas. Bolgar Historical and Archaeological complex has passed a period of its formation and now is one of the largest and interesting conservation areas in the Russian Federation. Every year the tourist flow here is growing. Theatrical meeting in national traditions give a unique local flavor and are very popular among tourists. However, museum tourism product experiences a lack of ethnic component; and local population, irritated by mass tourist arrivals, is isolated from its formation. The difficulties, appearing as the result of searching the balance of market participants’ interests, are specific for the culture and tourism development in the whole world. Although the involvement of residents in local cultural projects is less expensive and more sustainable in the long term The problem of introduction of local population to the tourism development and the involvement of the intangible cultural heritage can be solved by the implementation of measures aimed at getting by the local population economic, social, cultural and other benefits. The article deals with the problem of introduction of local population in the processes of tourism development and the involvement of ethnic and cultural intangible heritage in tourist complex. The authors make conclusion about the possibilities of the combination of tangible and intangible components of heritage in Bolgar Historical and Archaeological complex as the prospects of its further development.

With Russian enterprises and organizations operating in the sphere of tourism integrated into the global tourist service market, Russian tourist market players increasingly come under the influence of global tourist factors and development trends. At the marketing activity planning stage, especially when creating tourist service offers, companies are to take into account the common factors regulating and determining global tourist demand. The article provides an analysis of the major global tourism development trends, which, according to the authors, are to provided for by marketing decision-makers primarily in regards inbound tourism. The authors conclude that the trends included in the analysis are potentially influential at regional and micro levels.

The article contents the brief results of an Yaroslavl area regional tourist product study at the media and similar sources informing position, it’s perception of potential and real consumers. The research was carried out in two directions: a publications content analysis and Internet users pool. According to the tourist service consumers, the purposes of content analysis was to create the Yaroslavl region sites and collective accommodation facilities rating, as well as to determinate the main factors of tourism development restraining and the favorable perception of the Yaroslavl region as a tourist area reducing Web-pool was aimed at determining the tourist trips frequency, including the Russian Federation territory; identifying consumer preferences by type of recreation; identify the most popular tourist interest areas for different age groups; identification of the most popular information on tour objects sources; determination the reasons of consumers choice of one or another travel company; consumer requirements for infrastructural components of tourism products definition. The special attention was paid to the issues: what is laid in the basis of various age categories tourists experience formation. The article has the Yaroslavl region tourism development strategy prospects, in accordance with the social-economic development strategy/ More it contents the proposals on the regional tourism service system sphere formation.
