The rapid growth of the Industrial Revolution (IR) 4.0 has prompted the Malaysian Education Institution to transform the current education system into the future education system 4.0. The impact of IR 4.0 has opened a new paradigm for the Malaysian Educational Institution to ensure that all lecturers are capable of using information and communication technologies (ICT) in teaching and learning. However, there is a challenge in identifying appropriate digital learning platforms and tools to engage students in learning at their own pace. In this paper, we aimed to investigate the demand for digital learning platforms and tools according to the needs of students in Polytechnic Malaysia. The study was conducted randomly among 320 students from various fields of study in selected polytechnics. The analysis method used in this study was a quantitative method using questionnaires as an instrument. The results of our study indicated that e-learning platforms were the highest demand students’ preferred compared to other learning platforms and tools. Hence, the implications of this study could be useful as a guideline to assist Malaysian Polytechnic lecturers in strengthening the practice of using digital learning and develop digital proficiency for enabling education 4.0 in the future.

Orientation: The rapid economic developments of the last decade have been driven by the impact of revolutionary developments in information and communication technologies. These technological developments have irreversibly and significantly affected the role of an administrative professional with regard to assimilation, processing and utilisation of information.Research purpose: This study investigates the impact of global and national key drivers of change and transformation on the skills requirements of administrative professionals with the aim of developing a future-focused success profile to enable them to be effective in the new world of work.Motivation for the study: The study is motivated by the personal experience of one of the researchers, and her observation of the impact of technological advances and the necessity for administrative professionals to integrate new skills, knowledge and attitudes into the new world of work.Research approach/design and method: This study followed a mixed methods approach, using both pragmatist and constructivist paradigms. The pragmatist approach provides meaning through the natural work environment of an administrative professional, whilst a constructivist approach is followed to compile a whole-brain success profile. From a sample of 354, a total of 219 responses were received, which represent a response rate of 62%. Data were collected through a visual analogue scale-type questionnaire.Main findings: The findings reveal that the skill requirements for the future success of an administrative professional involve proficiency to function from all quadrants of the whole-brain model.Practical/managerial implications: The curricula of undergraduate qualifications should be adapted to allow for shorter credit-bearing skill modules in line with the latest trends in technology, because the profession of administrative professionals is mainly skill-based. In addition, owing to the focus of the study on the new world of work, the findings could be related to most occupations.Contribution or value-add: This study contributes to the construction of a future-focused whole-brain model, according to the functional skills, essential skills and emerging skills required for optimal effectiveness of administrative professionals in the future-focused world of work.

Computer systems and technologies are changing our society significantly. These changes are interconnected with both social and production spheres. Innovative digital technologies have a huge impact on the labor market and professional activity, contributing to their transfer to the electronic environment. Using digital technologies, modern people set new goals and solve problems with an increasing speed of problem solving, capitalizing on the possibilities of collaborative distributed actions within networks. In this regard, new competencies of specialists are in demand. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to establish the impact of the fourth industrial revolution on the education system and the development of skills and thinking for learning. Methods: When conducting scientific research, economic and statistical methods were used. These methods were also used in comparative analysis, as well as in assessing data and indicators of the higher education system, taking into account the impact of the fourth industrial revolution. The analytical method was used to consider the characteristics and factors influencing the development of skills and thinking for learning in modern conditions. The abstract-logical method is used to identify problems affecting the development of the labor market under the influence of digital technologies. Results and their value: The result of the study is that conclusions are drawn about the upcoming changes. Automation and digitalization are likely to lead to significant unemployment in most countries, so adaptation innovation policies are needed to help offset unemployment due to digitalization. Governments need to invest heavily in higher education as an economic development tool for their citizens. Lifelong learning should be identified as a critical element of success in the era of the fourth industrial revolution. Curricula should develop digital skills and address workforce disruptions due to automation.

During the social distancing, an increasing number of people use communication applications, various types of digital tools and programs. Various video conferencing platforms are regularly used in the educational environment. The study presents the analyses how intensive is the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the educational environment and how it can change cognitive-behavioral gender differences. This is particularly important to pay a special attention to the analysis of gender as a dynamic category, to take into account the processes of gender socialization and transformation of gender identification in the changing social environment. The research methods also included a set of additional methods, such as a focus group on different aspects of gender-specific behavior in the digital learning environment, putting together collages, as well as the method of the unfinished sentence related to the impact of ICT on teachers' professional development and well-being. In the course of the study, it was recognised that the design of social models of male and female gender-specific behaviour includes more than the basic gender identity and gender stability: in today's society, there is a multiplicity of views on the similarities and differences of gender-specific behaviours, and a rapid change in the accepted social guidelines and behavioural patterns is in progress, socio-cultural norms that define the psychological characteristics of women and men, their patterns of behaviour.

The development of a modern economy, in the context of the fourth industrial revolution, is impossible without the accumulation and development of human capital, since the foundation of the transformation of the economic system in an innovative economy is human capital. In this regard, the level of development and the efficiency of using human capital are of paramount importance. This article attempts to assess the role of human capital in the fourth industrial revolution. In the future, human talent will play a much more important role in the production process than capital. However, it will also lead to a greater division of the labor market with a growing gap between low-paid and high-paid jobs, and will contribute to an increase in social tensions. Already today, there is an increase in demand for highly skilled workers, especially in high-income countries, with a decrease in demand for workers with lower skills and lower levels of education. Analysis of labor market trends suggests that the future labor market is a market where there is simultaneously a certain demand for both higher and lower skills and abilities, combined with the devastation of the middle tier. The fourth industrial revolution relies heavily on the concept of human capital and the importance of finding complementarity between human and technology. In assessing the impact of the fourth industrial revolution, the relationship between technology, economic growth and human resources was examined. The analysis was carried out in terms of three concepts of economic growth, technological change and human capital. Human capital contributes to the advancement of new technologies, which makes the concept of human capital an essential factor in technological change. The authors emphasize that the modern economy makes new demands on workers; therefore it is necessary to constantly accumulate human capital, develop it through continuous learning, which will allow the domestic economy to enter the trajectory of sustainable economic growth. The need to create conditions for a comprehensive increase in the level of human capital development is noted.

This article addresses the impact of the digital era and it specifically refers to information and communication technologies (ICT) in Public Administration. It is based on the international approach and underscores the importance of incorporating new technologies established by the United Nations and the Organization of American States. Thereon, it highlights the Argentine Republic national approach towards ICT, and how it has moved towards a digital paradigm. It then emphasizes on the challenges and opportunities that emerge from the impact that artificial intelligence has in transforming Public Administration. Finally, it concludes that the key challenge of the Fourth Industrial Revolution is to achieve a boost towards a Digital and Intelligent Administration and government, which promotes the effectiveness of rights and an inclusive technological development that assures the digital dignity of people.

The paper analyzes up-to-date distance learning technologies used in European education system for ensuring overall organization of the educational process during the COVID-19 pandemic. Quarantine conditions have become a catalyst for development and practical testing of virtual learning tools and innovative pedagogical technologies, and application of the experience with them is a necessity of today and a strategy for the future. The article is focused on distance learning technologies in higher education. Institutions of England, Germany and France are chosen for the study due to their banner quality of educational service, like the University of Oxford, for example. The basis for successful conduct of all types of classes is employment of universities’ own specialized learning platforms. The learning model remains more similar to the traditional one. The main role continues to belong to communication between qualified teachers and students through various interactive web applications, while digital technologies create space for such interaction, filling it with learning materials. Students get access to all educational services using a single password to the university network. At the same time, some learning materials are available with open access, video lectures and podcasts are popular. Unlike other countries, education in Germany is governed by strict principles of information and data protection. In the contrary, in France many courses have been made available on network, and the education system has instantly adapted to work in virtual mode through the developed system of national distance learning platforms and the massive open online courses. The result of effective distance learning organization in Europe during the pandemic is that the introduction of digital technologies and transition to more flexible learning models become the education strategy at the state level, while pedagogy becomes an area of advanced development of information and communication technologies. The Fourth Industrial Revolution has resulted in the disruption of the world of work whereby technological innovation such as artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. These disruptions may be creative in that as some jobs are lost due to the development of artificial intelligence, new ones are created. This chapter explored the impact of disruptive technological innovations on the future of work. The skill gaps brought about by the emergence of the Fourth Industrial Revolution was also explored in this chapter.

This research is a study that examines how pesantren as an Islamic educational institution in Indonesia is able to survive amid the current modernization of pesantren education that changes the education system from traditional to modern. In this study there are several formulations of the problem, namely: 1) how was the initial development of Al-Barokah pesantren education, 2) how was the strategy of using the applied learning methods and models, 3) how was the final evaluation process at the Al-Barokah Islamic boarding school?. The Industrial Revolution 4.0 has brought about many changes including the higher education system. The main problem is how the education system could adapt to change and promote social innovation. This paper aims to describe the necessary changes and adjustments made in the education system, thereby better meeting the requirements of Industry 4.0, and creating a competitive education system, contributing to socio-economic development. With the research method based on the synthesis of documents, the research results show that, in the context of Industry Revolution 4.0 and the complexity of globalization, the philosophy in educational innovation needs to be changed so that universities can contribute more to society and enhance academic liberalization. Students need to master the knowledge and skills such as critical thinking and problem solving, communication and collaboration, creativity and innovation. In addition, literacy skills related to digital including information and communication knowledge are also important. Students should have access to knowledge based on diversity; and be ready to incorporate new knowledge that brings about positive changes, gradually fighting against injustice, lack of democracy and human rights, fostering an open society where voices are heard; and become responsible citizens. In addition, open learning platforms need to be considered by universities and teachers in deciding how to organize education and learning in the 4.0 Industrial Revolution era.

Today the world is in the process of rapid informatization and digitalization of society in all its spheres. The way and pace of life of a modern man is not similar to the life of previous generations. The spread of the coronavirus disease, known as COVID-19, has necessitated acceptance and adaptation to new working and learning conditions for educators from different countries. Educational institutions around the world are responding to numerous prohibitions and quarantine rules with the transition to distance learning. The crisis has already caused an online boom for education and forced teachers to be preparedto deal with this atypical situation. The most powerful source today is digital technology, or as they call it - digital learning tools, which implies competent use of the latest gadgets. Of course, global changes in public life cannot take place without changes in the educational space, so our education system now follows the experience of advanced European countries and implements many programs for the formation and development of digital literacy, including at the educational level. Definitely, Ukrainian education system follows the experience of advanced New Ukrainian School provides for the widespread use of information and communication technologies by each teacher in their own professional and pedagogical activities, which is an essential way to update and informatize the education content in different education institutions of our country. This process is impossible without the systematic use of electronic educational resources (EER) during the educational process, because they definitely create a modernized content of educational space and provide equal access to educational online materials to each participant in the educational process regardless of location, age or other aspects.
