This research is a study that examines how pesantren as an Islamic educational institution in Indonesia is able to survive amid the current modernization of pesantren education that changes the education system from traditional to modern. In this study there are several formulations of the problem, namely: 1) how was the initial development of Al-Barokah pesantren education, 2) how was the strategy of using the applied learning methods and models, 3) how was the final evaluation process at the Al-Barokah Islamic boarding school?. This research uses the content study method or literature study using several written studies and the use of qualitative methods in writing this article.

Madrasah is an alternative educational institution and has the same opportunity to become an educational institution taken into account in social change dynamics. However, as a logical consequence, madrasas must develop each sector to achieve its organizational goals. This study examines the opportunities and challenges of developing madrasas, particularly those based on an Islamic boarding school. This study is a literature study, so that the method of analyzing data is by reviewing and collecting information from various references, both books and scientific articles, which are used as a material in studying and adding conceptual insights related to the opportunities and challenges of developing Islamic boarding school-based madrasas in the modern era. The literature review results show that in developing the education system into a preeminent institution and maintaining its existence, madrasas in Islamic boarding school are required to be open and accommodate the community's aspirations and demands. Madrasah needs to develop themselves to become high quality and superior madrasas and a bridge that connects with the national education system, especially those related to students' moral and personality development. This is understandable because the community hopes that educational institutions in Islamic boarding school are religious experts, have morals, and have future skills.

<p>This study describes the role of KH. Ahmad Madani in education and community development at boarding school of Sumber Bungur. The method used in this study is the historical method, which uses a biographical approach. Biographical approach is an approach that seeks to understand and deepen keperibadian (figures) based on the background of the cultural social environment in which the character was raised, how the education process is experienced, the characters that are around him. The technique of data collection is by literature study and interview. The author collects data related to the discussion that will the author do. Data collected from interviews, books, journals, theses, internet and articles. The writer then criticized the source that has been obtained, which then performed data analysis and taken conclusions. The results of this study is Ahmad Madani is a pioneer and a figure who care about the education system in Madura, especially in Pakong Pamekasan District. From his ideas, around the 1960s, he was able to integrate both educational systems by establishing his own schools where religious knowledge and common knowledge were taught, although at the beginning of his pioneering many societies and even religious leaders considered KH. Ahmad Madani has continued the heritage and culture of Dutch clones, by incorporating the general materials into the educational institution he pioneered. Whereas the general matter is a subject matter brought by westerners whose connotation is that the western man is a Gentile.</p><p><strong>Keywords : Pesantren Education, Education in Ponpes Sumber Bungur.</strong></p>

This present study aims to expose values of moderate Islam in pesantren (Islamic boarding school). Pesantren constitutes a traditional Islamic educational institution that has grown and developed among Indonesia’s Muslim societies. The institution gives a very significant contribution to the development of Islamic education in particular as well as the implementation of national education system in general. A qualitative descriptive approach was designed in this library research. The findings promote that pesantren has implemented the traditional education system that obliges santri (pesantren students) to live in a boarding school setting. They learn Islamic studies under the supervision of kyai (pesantren teachers). This study also promotes that pesantren plays a pivotal role in fostering values of moderate Islam as one of the national challenges nowadays. The values highlight tolerance in understanding diversity to realize a peaceful life. The today’s condition showing the development of pesantren can be used as the prospect for Muslims to spread the concept of moderate Islam that leads us not to be easily provoked by hoaxes. It implies that values of moderate Islam need to be sustainably promoted in pesantren as an Islamic education institution.

Abstract Islamic boarding school as a native educational institution of Indonesia, has a dynamic education system. Implementation of the education system grows and builds the values of character in the nation and state. This can be proven; the life process built in Islamic boarding school contains the value of togetherness, democracy, mutual respect and tolerance among each other. This sense of togetherness and mutual respect are the foundation of the diversity of Indonesian. This condition can be established because the value of Pancasila (Five Principals) as a reflection in living life in boarding school has been implemented there for years.  But now, Islamic boarding school is facing the modernization in the education system. But this change due to modernization will not diminish the value of native boarding school since the it has the elements such us Islamic scholars, the students of Islamic boarding school itself, the  Quranic Yellow Book and mosques become the central of education which  are deeply rooted in the system of education itself. Abstrak Pesantren sebagai lembaga pendidikan asli Indonesia, memiliki sistem pendidikan yang dinamis. Pelaksanaan sistem pendidikannya menumbuhkan dan membangun nilai-nilai karakter dalam berbangsa dan bernegara. Ini dapat dibuktikan, proses kehidupan yang dibangun di pesantren terkandung nilai kebersamaan, demokrasi, saling menghargai dan toleransi antara sesamanya. Rasa kebersamaan dan saling menghargai ini lah yang menjadi pondasi dari keberagaman bangsa Indenesia. Kondisi ini bisa terjalin karena di pondok pesantren memiliki panca jiwa sebagai refleksi dalam menjalani kehidupan di pondok pesantren. Menghadapi modernisasi pesantren mengalami “perubahan” dalam sistem pendidikannya. Namun perubahan ini tidak memudarkan kecirikhasan pondok pesantren. Karena unsur di dalamnya yang terdiri dari kiai, santri, kitab kuning serta masjid yang menjadi sentral pendidikannya sangat mengakar dalam sistem pendidikannya. Dalam menghadapi modernisasi pesantren mengalami “perubahan” dalam sistem pendidikannya. Namun perubahan ini tidak memudarkan kecirikhasan pondok pesantren. Karena unsur di dalamnya terdiri dari kiai, santri, kitab kuning serta masjid yang menjadi sentral pendidikannya sangat mengakar dalam sistem pendidikannya.

After the ratification of Pesantren's Law, the existence of pesantren (Islamic boarding school) more be recognized as an integral part of the national education system. Historically, it has much uniqueness. In the modern era, its dynamics in Indonesia faced problematic situations: the pressure of the colonizers and the modernization of the educational system that provide disadvantages. Also, the decline of the centers of Islamic culture has residues. On one side, such situations force pesantren to take extra careful steps to look less agile in reforming its educational and institutional system in the context of the fulfillment of its traditional functions. On the side, the tradition of Islamic science developed is deemed to be very close to the Sufistic-juristic inclination that belongs to the non-puritan school. As the penetration of the modernization in the national education system is gradually accepted, its dialectical pattern has pushed pesantren to take the convergent process that makes this institution to compete as an educational institution and education provider as well.

This study aimed to elaborate on the influence of Kiai Haji Yayat Ruhiyat Sirodj leadership to boarding school’s education development. Albidayah Boarding School is a modern boarding school which still maintain traditional elements. Albidayah Boarding School’s development cannot be apart from one of the figures that once led, namely Kiai Haji Yayat Ruhiyat Sirodj. The main problem in this research is “how was the education system of Albidayah Boarding School under the leadership of Kiai Haji Yayat Ruhiyat Sirodj in 1971-2011?”. This problem was examined by using a historical method that includes heuristic, critics, interpretation, and historiography. For data collection and research sources, conducted with literature study and history's witness interviews. Results study showed that under the leadership of Kiai Haji Yayat Ruhiyat Sirodj, Albidayah Boarding School has a significant development in the education field. Began with the traditional Islamic boarding school education (salafi) and developed into a modern boarding school (khalafi) by combining religion and general knowledge. The changing in the education system in Kiai Haji Yayat Ruhiyat Sirodj leadership era was made Albidayah Boarding School as official education institution under the government to build SP-IAIN (Sekolah Persiapan-Institut Agama Islam Negeri/ School Preparation-the State of Islamic Institute) in 1971. Then in 1993, Madrasah Aliyah (MA) Albidayah was built and in 2006 an Integrated Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) Albidayah was also built. The curriculum that used by Albidayah Boarding School is an integrated curriculum that covers Boarding School Curriculum, the Ministry of Education and Culture Curriculum, and the Ministry of Religion Curriculum.

The rapid growth of the Industrial Revolution (IR) 4.0 has prompted the Malaysian Education Institution to transform the current education system into the future education system 4.0. The impact of IR 4.0 has opened a new paradigm for the Malaysian Educational Institution to ensure that all lecturers are capable of using information and communication technologies (ICT) in teaching and learning. However, there is a challenge in identifying appropriate digital learning platforms and tools to engage students in learning at their own pace. In this paper, we aimed to investigate the demand for digital learning platforms and tools according to the needs of students in Polytechnic Malaysia. The study was conducted randomly among 320 students from various fields of study in selected polytechnics. The analysis method used in this study was a quantitative method using questionnaires as an instrument. The results of our study indicated that e-learning platforms were the highest demand students’ preferred compared to other learning platforms and tools. Hence, the implications of this study could be useful as a guideline to assist Malaysian Polytechnic lecturers in strengthening the practice of using digital learning and develop digital proficiency for enabling education 4.0 in the future.

Abstract Pesantren or as usually assosiated to an Islamic boarding school is one kind of typical Indonesian Islamic education established by the community. In the process, most of the islamic boarding school seeks to respond to the demands of the times by modernizing its institution by establishing formal educational institutions ranging from pre-schools to higher education level. Besides, several islamic boarding schools try to remain its original characteristics as islamic educational institutions that focuses on tafaqquh fi al-din (religion deepening), which teaches the students how to understand the content of yellow book. Islamic boarding schools that seeks to combine the two dimension, while maintaining its identity as an educational institution that tafaqquh fi al-din but on the other hand also adopted the formal education system, especially higher education is then popularly known as integrated boarding school. This study was interesting to get further investigation in order to analyze and find the concepts and models of management of integrated educational between islamic boarding school and college and the implications for improving the quality of its graduates. This study used a qualitative approach with multisite study as its research design. Finally, the study concluded that the concept of integrated education initiated by Ma'had Dalwa Bangil and Pondok Ngalah Purwosari consist of two different concepts, namely "the concept of systemic integration" that defined as an idea that want to integrate all components of the education system in both institutions, by integrated the educators, learners, curriculum, and the building or other facilities. The second concept is "organic integration”, it is about the idea that want to integrate the spiritualistic value inside the pesantren education and the values of college intellectuals. The concept of integrated education both systemic and organic has been implemented in two models: "structural model" and "cultural model". Structural model is a model that try to synthesizes boarding institution's organizational structure, while the cultural model is done by creating a culture in the two institutions that show balanced condition between spirituality and intellectuality. The two models have improved the quality of graduates at both institutions. Keywords: Integrated Education, Pesantren, Campus, Improving The Quality of Graduates   ملخص الباسانترين أو المعاهد الإسلامية هي نوع من التعليم الإسلامي الإندونيسي الذي أنشأها المجتمع. في العملية ، تحاول معظم المعاهد الإسلامية الاستجابة لمطالب العصر بتحديث مؤسساتها من خلال إنشاء مؤسسات تعليمية رسمية تتراوح ما بين مرحلة ما قبل المدرسة PAUD إلى التعليم العالي. بالإضافة إلى ذلك ، تحاول بعض المعاهد الإسلامية الاحتفاظ بخصائصها الأصلية كمؤسسات تعليمية إسلامية تركز على التفقه فى الدين أو تعميق الدين ، والذي يعلم الطلاب كيفية فهم محتويات الكتب الصفراء. المهاهد الإسلامية التي تحاول الجمع بين البعدين ، مع الحفظ على هويتها كمؤسسات تعليمية هي "التفقه فى الدين" ولكن من ناحية أخرى تتبنى نظام التعليم الرسمي ، وخاصة التعليم العالي الذي عرف فيما بعد بمعاهد إسلامية متكاملة. هذا البحث للاهتمام على حصول من التحقيقات لتحليل وإيجاد مفاهيم ونماذج لإدارة التعليم المتكامل بين المعاهد الإسلامية ومؤسسات التعليم العالي الإسلامية وانعكاساتها على تحسين جودة الخريجين. تستخدم هذه الدراسة نهجًا نوعيًا مع دراسات متعددة كتصميم بحثه. وأخيراً ، خلص البحث إلى أن مفهوم التعليم المتكامل الذي ابتكره معهد دالوى بانجيل ومعهد عالاه بورواساري يتكون من مفهومين مختلفين هما "مفهوم التكامل المنهجي" الذي يعرف بأنه الفكرة التي تريد دمج جميع مكونات التعليم. نظم في كلا المؤسستين ، من خلال دمج المعلمين والطلاب والمناهج الدراسية والمباني أو غيرها من المرافق. المفهوم الثاني هو "التكامل العضوي" ، والذي يدور حول الأفكار التي ترغب في دمج القيم الروحية في التعليم المعهدي والقيم الفكرية للتعليم العالي. تم تنفيذ مفهوم التعليم المنهجي والعضوي المتكامل في نموذجين: "النماذج الهيكلية" و "النماذج الثقافية". النموذج الهيكلي هو نموذج يحاول تجميع البنية التنظيمية للمؤسسات المعهدية ، بينما يتم تنفيذ نموذج ثقافي من خلال خلق ثقافة في مؤسستين تظهر حالة متوازنة بين الروحانية والمثقفين. وقد أحسن كلا النموذجين جودة الخريجين في كلا المؤسستين. مفتاح الكلمات: التعليم المتكاملى ، المعهد الإسلامي ، الجامعة ، تحسين جودة الخريجين Abstract Pesantren atau yang biasa diasosiasikan dengan pondok pesantren adalah salah satu jenis pendidikan Islam khas Indonesia yang didirikan oleh masyarakat. Dalam prosesnya, sebagian besar pondok pesantren berupaya merespons tuntutan zaman dengan memodernisasi lembaganya dengan mendirikan lembaga pendidikan formal mulai dari pra-sekolah hingga tingkat pendidikan tinggi. Selain itu, beberapa pondok pesantren mencoba untuk tetap karakteristik aslinya sebagai lembaga pendidikan Islam yang berfokus pada tafaqquh fi al-din (pendalaman agama), yang mengajarkan siswa bagaimana memahami isi buku kuning. Pesantren yang berupaya menggabungkan dua dimensi, sambil mempertahankan identitasnya sebagai lembaga pendidikan yang tafaqquh fi al-din tetapi di sisi lain juga mengadopsi sistem pendidikan formal, khususnya pendidikan tinggi yang kemudian dikenal dengan sebutan pondok pesantren terintegrasi. Penelitian ini menarik untuk mendapatkan investigasi lebih lanjut untuk menganalisis dan menemukan konsep dan model manajemen pendidikan terintegrasi antara pondok pesantren dan perguruan tinggi Islam serta implikasinya untuk meningkatkan kualitas lulusannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan studi multisite sebagai desain penelitiannya. Akhirnya, penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa konsep pendidikan terintegrasi yang diprakarsai oleh Ma'had Dalwa Bangil dan Pondok Ngalah Purwosari terdiri dari dua konsep yang berbeda, yaitu "konsep integrasi sistemik" yang didefinisikan sebagai gagasan yang ingin mengintegrasikan semua komponen pendidikan. sistem di kedua lembaga, dengan mengintegrasikan para pendidik, peserta didik, kurikulum, dan bangunan atau fasilitas lainnya. Konsep kedua adalah "integrasi organik", yaitu tentang gagasan yang ingin mengintegrasikan nilai spiritual dalam pendidikan pesantren dan nilai-nilai intelektual perguruan tinggi. Konsep pendidikan terintegrasi baik sistemik dan organik telah diimplementasikan dalam dua model: "model struktural"dan" model budaya ". Model struktural adalah model yang mencoba mensintesis struktur organisasi lembaga asrama, sedangkan model budaya dilakukan dengan menciptakan budaya di dua lembaga yang menunjukkan kondisi yang seimbang antara spiritualitas dan intelektual. Administration of an educational institution is a major source of management in regulating the teaching and learning process in an orderly manner so that the most important goals are achieved at the educational institution. Which is very needed by the perpetrators of education to carry out their duties and profession.
