The mixer is the most widely used batch mixing equipment in the rubber industry. The rotor is a core component and has a great impact on the mixing effect of the equipment. The current rotor structure design is done empirically, being tightly dependent on practical experience. This paper proposes a method for optimizing the rotor structure by using optimization algorithms combined with numerical simulation technology. Using MATLAB software, a parametric design program for synchronous rotors and a set of optimization programs for the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm were written. The global distribution index was used as the fitness function to optimize the synchronous rotor configuration. A comparative analysis of the rotors before and after optimization shows that the optimization process is feasible, and the results are reliable. This provides new ideas for the design and development of mixer rotors.

While all of us regularly use basic mathematical symbols such as those for plus, minus, and equals, few of us know that many of these symbols weren't available before the sixteenth century. What did mathematicians rely on for their work before then? And how did mathematical notations evolve into what we know today? This book explains the fascinating history behind the development of our mathematical notation system. It shows how symbols were used initially, how one symbol replaced another over time, and how written math was conveyed before and after symbols became widely adopted. Traversing mathematical history and the foundations of numerals in different cultures, the book looks at how historians have disagreed over the origins of the number system for the past two centuries. It follows the transfigurations of algebra from a rhetorical style to a symbolic one, demonstrating that most algebra before the sixteenth century was written in prose or in verse employing the written names of numerals. It also investigates the subconscious and psychological effects that mathematical symbols have had on mathematical thought, moods, meaning, communication, and comprehension. It considers how these symbols influence us (through similarity, association, identity, resemblance, and repeated imagery), how they lead to new ideas by subconscious associations, how they make connections between experience and the unknown, and how they contribute to the communication of basic mathematics. From words to abbreviations to symbols, this book shows how math evolved to the familiar forms we use today.

This paper presents a technique to design a PSO guidance algorithm for the nonlinear and dynamic pursuit-evasion optimization problem. In the PSO guidance algorithm, the particle positions of the swarm are initialized randomly within the guidance command solution space. With the particle positions to be guidance commands, we predict and record missiles’ behavior by solving point-mass equations of motion during a defined short-range period. Taking relative distance to be the objective function, the fitness function is then evaluated according to the objective function. As the PSO algorithm proceeds, these guidance commands will migrate to a local optimum until the global optimum is reached. This paper implements the PSO guidance algorithm in two pursuit-evasion scenarios and the simulation results show that the proposed design technique is able to generate a missile guidance law which has satisfied performance in execution time, terminal miss distance, time of interception and robust pursuit capability.

e16016 Background: Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is a common malignancy without effective therapy. Immune checkpoint–oriented immunotherapies have shown considerable promise and the advent of esophageal microbiome provides researchers with new ideas. Methods: DNA was extracted from blood, oral mucosal, saliva, urine, fecal samples from 20 ESCC patients before and after immunotherapy. Total microbial genomic DNA samples were extracted using an OMEGA Soil DNA Kit (D5625-01). The V3–V4 regions of bacterial 16S rRNA genes were amplified by PCR using the forward primer and the reverse primer and were sequenced with Illumina MiSeq platform. In order to comprehensively evaluate the α diversity of microbial communities, we used Chao1 and Observed Species indices to characterize the richness, Shannon and Simpson indices to characterize the diversity. PCoA were used to analyze differences in β diversity. Functions of 16S rRNA sequences were predicted using the PICRUSt2 and KEGG databases. Results: A comparison of blood, oral mucosal, saliva, urine, fecal samples of ESCC patients before and after immunotherapy showed that α diversity was not statistically significant. In terms of β diversity, no statistically significant differences were detected within blood, oral mucosal, saliva, urine, fecal samples of ESCC patients before and after immunotherapy. In ESCC patients treated before immunotherapy, the α diversity and β diversity of blood, oral mucosal, saliva, urine, fecal samples were different, and in ESCC patients treated after immunotherapy had the same rule. At the phylum level, the top 5 microbes in ESCC patients before and after immunotherapy were Proteobacteria, Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes, Actinobacteria, Fusobacteria. At the genus level, the top 5 microbes in ESCC patients before immunotherapy were Aquabacterium, Streptococcus, Prevotella, Veillonella, Bacteroides, and in ESCC patients after immunotherapy were Aquabacterium, Streptococcus, Prevotella, Faecalibacterium, Veillonella. In terms of the microbial functions in ESCC patients before and after immunotherapy, the metabolic pathways accounted for the most. Conclusions: This study is conducive to exploring new mechanisms for tumor cells to evade host immune surveillance, providing new ideas and new strategies for the microecology-based immunotherapy of ESCC.

Abstract Background Patient-led education contributes to the implementation of practical experience of working with patients in health care professional curricula. There are few descriptions of patients’ involvement in pharmacists’ training and most often, the patients have been used as passive props to facilitate training. More recently, greater emphasis has been given to a more active form of patient involvement but the application in the curriculum of pharmacy has not been conceptualized. Thus, the aim of our study was to implement a workshop involving patients as partners in undergraduate pharmacy educational programme, and to evaluate its impact of on students’ perspectives. Method On a prospective observational study basis, the impact was assessed in terms of relevance, learning outcomes and achievement transfer using the Kirkpatrick training assessment method. In addition, we evaluated social representations of the students before and after the workshop. Results Ninety-four students attended the sessions. All participants were satisfied and emphasized the relevance of the involvement of patients. Postworkshop scores were significantly improved in both competencies to be acquired. At the end of the workshop, students reported two to three actions to implement in order to meet patients’ expectations, illustrating an intent to transfer learning outcomes in professional context. Interestingly, about patients’ expectations on pharmacist’s role, students’ social representations had evolved significantly after the session. Conclusion These results highlight the positive impact of the innovative workshops and the additive value of patients’ involvement in the pharmacy undergraduate programme.

In view of the drawbacks of the traditional optimal methods in the suspension structure optimization, this paper elaborates a genetic algorithm (GA) based global optimal design so as to improve the vehicle performance. Firstly, an independent double wishbone air suspension (IDWAS) is constructed. After defining the linkage relation of the guide mechanism of the IDWAS, the model is verified followed with the parametric design. Furthermore, in consideration of the prescribed targets of the vehicle kinematics, the wheel alignment parameters (WAPs) are selected as the objectives of the optimal design of the vehicle kinematics. Apart from the kinematic analysis of the IDWAS, dynamic analysis before and after optimization as well as the traditional independent double wishbone suspension (TIDWS) are also conducted. Numerical results show that the changes of the WAPs are within a certain range and the guide mechanism follows the prescribed constraints. Simulation results show that the IDWAS is superior to the TIDWS, while the optimized IDWAS has a slight improvement as compared to the original IDWAS in dynamic performance of the suspension.
