As a functional food, honey is a food product that is exposed to the risk of food fraud. To mitigate this, the establishment of an authentication system for honey is very important in order to protect both producers and consumers from possible economic losses. This research presents a simple analytical method for the authentication and classification of Indonesian honeys according to their botanical, entomological, and geographical origins using ultraviolet (UV) spectroscopy and SIMCA (soft independent modeling of class analogy). The spectral data of a total of 1040 samples, representing six types of Indonesian honey of different botanical, entomological, and geographical origins, were acquired using a benchtop UV-visible spectrometer (190–400 nm). Three different pre-processing algorithms were simultaneously evaluated; namely an 11-point moving average smoothing, mean normalization, and Savitzky–Golay first derivative with 11 points and second-order polynomial fitting (ordo 2), in order to improve the original spectral data. Chemometrics methods, including exploratory analysis of PCA and SIMCA classification method, was used to classify the honey samples. A clear separation of the six different Indonesian honeys, based on botanical, entomological, and geographical origins, was obtained using PCA calculated from pre-processed spectra from 250–400 nm. The SIMCA classification method provided satisfactory results in classifying honey samples according to their botanical, entomological, and geographical origins and achieved 100% accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity. Several wavelengths were identified (266, 270, 280, 290, 300, 335, and 360 nm) as the most sensitive for discriminating between the different Indonesian honey samples.

One form of honey adulteration is label adulteration for some premium honey such as uniflora honey from the honeybee species Trigona sp. One of the analytical methods that are currently developing and have the potential to perform the classification of premium honey in Indonesia is the UV spectroscopy method. In this study, an investigation was carried out on the effect of dilution on the performance of UV spectroscopy in the process of classifying Indonesian honey with different honeybees. A total of 4 types of honey samples with 10 samples each were used in this study. The honey sample was then diluted using distilled water. Each type of honey was given two dilution treatments, namely 1:20 (volume: volume) dilution of 5 samples and 1:40 (volume: volume) dilution of 5 samples. Spectral data were taken using a UV-visible spectrometer with a wavelength of 190-1100 nm (Genesys™ 10S UV-Vis, Thermo Scientific, USA) using the transmittance mode. The results of spectra analysis generally show that the sample with a 1:20 dilution has a higher absorbance intensity for both the original and modified spectra. The PCA results for each dilution showed that the honey samples could be separated into four different clusters for both 1:20 and 1:40 dilutions. The results of PCA analysis using all samples showed that the honey samples were classified into eight different clusters showing a significant effect of differences in honey sample dilution on the classification process of honey samples based on differences in the types of honeybees.

In this research, spectral data in UV region (200-400 nm) alongside PCA and SIMCA chemometrics were used to classify two types of honey obtained from different honeybees (Apis dorsata versus Apis mellifera). A total of 200 Durian monofloral honey samples from Apis dorsata and 120 samples for Longan monofloral honey from Apis mellifera were prepared. Therefore, spectral data were recorded based on the following parameters: range of acquisition 200-400 nm, transmittance mode, and interval 1 nm. In addition, the original spectra were transformed using three different algorithms: moving average smoothing with 11 segments, standard normal variate (SNV), and Savitzky-Golay 1st derivative with 11 segments and 2 ordos. The result of PCA using transformed spectra in the range of 250-400 nm explained the possibility of clearly separating Durian and Longan honey along the PC1 axis, with 98% variance, while the SIMCA showed a 100% proper classification rate for all prediction samples. In addition, several important wavelengths were identified alongside high x-loadings values at 270 and 300 nm. These results were closely related to the absorbance of important phenolic compounds in honey, including benzoic, salicylic, and aryl-alyphatic acids. The results demonstrate a probability to establish simple and low-cost honey authentication systems, using UV spectroscopy and chemometrics on free-chemical in sample preparations. Tungkal Composite Jambi Liberika Coffee is one of the top qualities of Indonesian coffees that has received a geographic indication certificate (IGs). With its limited production and high prices, currently Tungkal Jambi Liberika coffee is one of the coffees that is prone to being counterfeited. The counterfeiting of Tungkal Jambi Liberika coffee is increasingly difficult to identify, especially in the form of ground roasted coffee. This study evaluated the potential application of UV spectroscopy technology to classify Tungkal Jambi Liberika coffee (with geographic indications) and normal Probolinggo Liberika coffee (non- geographic indications). A total of 120 samples for each Liberika coffee were prepared weighing 1 gram for each sample. Spectra measurements were carried out in the form of a coffee solution. Spectral data were taken using a UV-visible spectrometer with a wavelength interval of 200-400 nm (Genesys™ 10S UV-Vis, Thermo Scientific, USA). By using the average transformed spectra in the 250-350 nm interval, the differences between the two types of Liberika coffee can be clearly seen, especially at some wavelength peaks, namely 270 nm, 300 nm, 315 nm and 346 nm. The classification accuracy obtained for the SIMCA classification is 100% for both Tungkal Jambi Liberika and Probolinggo Liberika coffee. Keywords:   authentication, classification accuracy, Tungkal Jambi Liberika coffee, SIMCA, UV Spectroscopy

Rhodococcus fascians is an important pathogen that infects various herbaceous perennials and reduces their economic value. In this study, we examined R. fascians isolates carrying a virulence gene from symptomatic lily plants grown in South Korea. Phylogenetic analysis using the nucleotide sequences of 16S rRNA, vicA, and fasD led to the classification of the isolates into four different strains of R. fascians. Inoculation of Nicotiana benthamiana with these isolates slowed root growth and resulted in symptoms of leafy gall. These findings elucidate the diversification of domestic pathogenic R. fascians and may lead to an accurate causal diagnosis to help reduce economic losses in the bulb market.

The purpose of this work was to investigate the detection of the pesticide residual (profenofos) in tomatoes by using visible/near-infrared spectroscopy. Therefore, the experiments were performed on 180 tomato samples with different percentages of profenofos pesticide (higher and lower values than the maximum residual limit (MRL)) as compared to the control (no pesticide). VIS/near infrared (NIR) spectral data from pesticide solution and non-pesticide tomato samples (used as control treatment) impregnated with different concentrations of pesticide in the range of 400 to 1050 nm were recorded by a spectrometer. For classification of tomatoes with pesticide content at lower and higher levels of MRL as healthy and unhealthy samples, we used different spectral pre-processing methods with partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) models. The Smoothing Moving Average pre-processing method with the standard error of cross validation (SECV) = 4.2767 was selected as the best model for this study. In addition, in the calibration and prediction sets, the percentages of total correctly classified samples were 90 and 91.66%, respectively. Therefore, it can be concluded that reflective spectroscopy (VIS/NIR) can be used as a non-destructive, low-cost, and rapid technique to control the health of tomatoes impregnated with profenofos pesticide.

In order to determine the influence of spheroidization process of Ammonium dinitramide’s hazard grade, the hazardous division of Ammonium dinitramide before and after spheroidization is studied by using hazard classification procedure for combustible and explosive substances and articles standard (WJ20405) and hazard classification method and criterion for combusitible and explosive substances and articles standard (WJ20404). The research results show that spheroidization process can significantly improve the temperature stability of Ammonium dinitramide and significantly reduce friction sensitivity and impact sensitivity of Ammonium dinitramide. So spheroidization process can reduce the hazardous of Ammonium dinitramide and improve the safe character of Ammonium dinitramide.

This article discusses the problems of the influence of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) violations of electrical and electronic devices on the surrounding ecosystems. The analysis is carried out and the classification of EMC violations is given, the causes of the compatibility violation are examined, and the economic losses and the negative environmental impact, as a consequence of the considered violations, are analyzed. A classification and generalization of methods to minimize the negative consequences of EMC violations was carried out, criteria for reducing economic losses were considered, methods for preventing and preventing EMC violations of various power and electronic devices were classified. The methods of monitoring the compatibility of devices are considered and recommendations are given for observing the necessary safety and control requirements.

Two methods were developed for the determination of dapagliflozin (DAPA) in pure form and in tablets. The procedure utilized was UV-Visible Spectroscopy and RP-HPLC with PDA detector to quantify DAPA in bulk and tablets. The sensitive linear range was identified for both methods within 0.5-5.0μg/mL. The linear regression analysis was identified for both methods with correlation coefficient(r)>0.99. The LOD and LOQ values were found to be 0.05 μg/mL and 0.5 μg/mL for the method by UV-Spectroscopy. The molar absorptivity (ε) was calculated as 1.27 X 105 L.mol-1cm-1. The RP-HPLC method produced LOD and LOQ values of 1.0 ng/mL and 0.5 μg/mL. Both methods were simple, precise, reproducible to quantify the amount of unknown in bulk as well as in tablets and estimated accurately within the range of 100.0±0.5%. Statistical analysis was performed on the data obtained. There was no significant difference between the developed and reported methods with p>0.05. Both methods can be applied for routine analysis of DAPA in bulk and tablets with good accuracy and precision.
