The quality of environmental perception is crucial for automated vehicle capabilities. In order to ensure the required accuracy, the occupancy grid mapping algorithm is often utilised to fuse data from multiple sensors. This paper focuses on the radar-based occupancy grid for highway applications and describes how to measure effectively the quality of the occupancy map. The evaluation was performed using the novel grid pole-like object analysis method. The proposed assessment is versatile and can be applied without detailed ground truth information. The evaluation was tested with a simulation and real vehicle experiments on the highway.

This study aims at identifying conjunction shifts and their impact on the translation quality of Orwell’s Animal Farm in accuracy and acceptability aspects. This descriptive qualitative research is an embedded-cased study and oriented to translation products. The data were collected by document analysis and focus group discussion and then analyzed by Spradley’s data analysis method. The results show that 207 data of conjunction shifts in terms of form, expression, function, major classification meaning, categorical meaning, and sub-categorical meaning affect translation quality. The assessment of translation quality of conjunctions that shifted in the translation of the novel Animal Farm results in an average accuracy score of 2.09 and an average acceptability score of 2.84. Even though they are less accurate, the translation results of conjunctions that shifted in the translation of the novel are quite acceptable. This implies that translators should master on form, expression, function, and meaning of conjunctions so as to produce a good quality translation result.

This research explain the techniques and quality assessment of the translation of washfi phrases in the novel Zeina's translation by Nawal El Saadawi. This research is a part of translation criticism by using the descriptive analysis method. This research uses a qualitative approach in analyzing translation techniques by applying Newmark's theory of translation techniques. In addition, a quantitative approach is also used in assessing the quality of translation by applying the theory of translation quality assessment by Nababan. The results of this research indicate that there are 348 data on washfi phrases in the novel Zeina and 40 data on washfi phrases in this study. The techniques used in translation are 10 of 16 Newmark translation techniques. The ten techniques are literal translation technique, transference, reduction, expansion, transposition, synonymy, modulation, naturalization, paraphrasing, and recognized translation technique. As for the assessment of translation quality, the most acceptable translation qualities were literal translation techniques and synonymy techniques (77%). Meanwhile, the lowest acceptance quality was naturalization technique, which was 62%. Then, the quality of easy / high readability is in the paraphrasing technique, which is 76%. While the quality of the lowest readability is naturalization technique, which is 46%.

The paper reports some comparisons between commercial software able to automatically process image datasets for 3D reconstruction purposes. The main aspects investigated in the work are the capability to correctly orient large sets of image of complex environments, the metric quality of the results, replicability and redundancy. Different datasets are employed, each one featuring a diverse number of images, GSDs at cm and mm resolutions, and ground truth information to perform statistical analyses of the 3D results. A summary of (photogrammetric) terms is also provided, in order to provide rigorous terms of reference for comparisons and critical analyses.

Continuous monitoring of an electrocardiogram (ECG) in private diagnostic spaces such as vehicles or apartments allows early detection of cardiovascular diseases. We will use an armchair with integrated capacitive electrodes to record the capacitive electrocardiogram (cECG) during everyday activities. However, movements and other artifacts affect the signal quality. Therefore, an artifact index is needed to detect artifacts and classify the cECG. The unavailability of cECG data and reliable ground truth information requires new recordings to develop an artifact index. This study is designed to test the hypothesis: an artifact index can be devised, which intends to estimate the signal quality of segments and classify signals. In a single-arm study with 44 subjects, we will record two activities of 11-minute duration: reading and watching television. During recording, we will capture cECG, ECG, and oxygen saturation (SpO2) with time synchronization as well as keypoint-based movement indicators obtained from a video camera. SpO2 provides additional information on the subject’s health status. The keypoint-based movements indicate artifacts in the cECG. We will combine all ground truth data to evaluate the index. In the future, we aim at using the artifact index to exclude cECG segments with artifacts from further analysis. This will improve cECG technology for the measurement of cardiovascular parameters.

Introduction: Large-scale human-computer systems involving people of various skills and motivation into the information processing process are currently used in a wide spectrum of applications. An acute problem in such systems is assessing the expected quality of each contributor; for example, in order to penalize incompetent or inaccurate ones and to promote diligent ones.Purpose: To develop a method of assessing the expected contributor’s quality in community tagging systems. This method should only use generally unreliable and incomplete information provided by contributors (with ground truth tags unknown). Results:A mathematical model is proposed for community image tagging (including the model of a contributor), along with a method of assessing the expected contributor’s quality. The method is based on comparing tag sets provided by different contributors for the same images, being a modification of pairwise comparison method with preference relation replaced by a special domination characteristic. Expected contributors’ quality is evaluated as a positive eigenvector of a pairwise domination characteristic matrix. Community tagging simulation has confirmed that the proposed method allows you to adequately estimate the expected quality of community tagging system contributors (provided that the contributors' behavior fits the proposed model).Practical relevance: The obtained results can be used in the development of systems based on coordinated efforts of community (primarily, community tagging systems).

Chronic inducible urticarias are characterized by the risks of systemic reactions and a significant impairment of patients quality of life. The diagnosis of chronic inducible urticarias relies on the patients history and the challenge tests. A treatment algorithm for the management of chronic inducible urticarias includes nonsedating antihistamines as a firstline treatment. The international guidelines for the management of chronic inducible urticarias recommend updosing of nonsedating antihistamines up to four fold if standard doses are not effective. The metaanalysis suggests the efficacy of omalizumab in chronic inducible urticarias. In the prospect, the novel options of biological therapy for chronic inducible urticarias are expected.

Creating an accurate awareness of the environment using laser scanners is a major challenge in robotics and auto industries. LiDAR (light detection and ranging) is a powerful laser scanner that provides a detailed map of the environment. However, efficient and accurate mapping of the environment is yet to be obtained, as most modern environments contain glass, which is invisible to LiDAR. In this paper, a method to effectively detect and localise glass using LiDAR sensors is proposed. This new approach is based on the variation of range measurements between neighbouring point clouds, using a two-step filter. The first filter examines the change in the standard deviation of neighbouring clouds. The second filter uses a change in distance and intensity between neighbouring pules to refine the results from the first filter and estimate the glass profile width before updating the cartesian coordinate and range measurement by the instrument. Test results demonstrate the detection and localisation of glass and the elimination of errors caused by glass in occupancy grid maps. This novel method detects frameless glass from a long range and does not depend on intensity peak with an accuracy of 96.2%.

The paper presents the novel HF-GEN method for determining the characteristics of Electrical Appliance (EA) operating in the end-user environment. The method includes a measurement system that uses a pulse signal generator to improve the quality of EA identification. Its structure and the principles of operation are presented. A method for determining the characteristics of the current signals’ transients using the cross-correlation is described. Its result is the appliance signature with a set of features characterizing its state of operation. The quality of the obtained signature is evaluated in the standard classification task with the aim of identifying the particular appliance’s state based on the analysis of features by three independent algorithms. Experimental results for 15 EAs categories show the usefulness of the proposed approach.
