This study adopted a quasi-experimental design with the support of qualitative information to investigate the impact of the mobile microscope on students’ science learning outcomes in a laboratory setting. The duration of the educational experiment was 5 weeks. Research participants comprised 56 third graders from two different classes at a public elementary school in Taiwan. Two classes with an equal number of students formed the experimental and control groups. Students in the experimental group employed mobile microscopes to support their scientific inquiries, whereas students in the control group used only tablet computers to facilitate their science learning. A standardized test was developed to measure students’ basic understanding of botany. Additionally, semi-structured concept mapping was employed as an alternative non-standardized test to evaluate students’ natural science learning. The quantitative findings indicated a significant instructional effect in the students’ concept mapping but not in the standardized test. The qualitative results revealed that mobile microscopes might motivate students to actively engage in knowledge discussion and sharing during plant observation.

<p>The aim of the present research was study of the impact of music therapy on problem-solving skills of 4 to 6 years old children in Tehran. This research was a quasi-experimental study with pretest-posttest control group. The statistical population was all 4 to 6 years old children in region 2 of Tehran. Using the random sampling method, the study sample was chosen in two experiment (15 individuals) and control (15 individuals) groups.   The experiment group received 12 sessions of music therapy and the control group was waiting for treatment meanwhile. To evaluate the problem-solving skill in children, the three subscales of Wechsler’s Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI) were used, including: mazes, cubes and arithmetic.  Analysis of data obtained from the questionnaires was conducted in two parts of descriptive and inferential. The data analysis indicated the significant increase of problem-solving average score of the experiment group compared to the control group.</p>

The research is based on the low level of career planning ability of students in middle school. The main objective of the study is to know the impact of experimental learning techniques in improving the career planning ability of students. The research method used is quasi-experimental design. The subjects of the study were students of Class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Kalitidu. Bojonegoro academic year 2016/2017 which selected by purposive sampling technique. The technique of data analysis using the t-test to compare the gain value of experiment group and control group. The results showed t score is -8,303 and p score is 0,00 it means that experimental learning techniques can improve the career planning ability of the student than the conventional method.

The study aimed to reveal the effect of the use of a teaching strategy given to the model of Ausubel in the Achievement of the Ninth Grade female students in biology and their attitudes towards it. The study sample consisted of (44) female students, assigned randomly into two group: the experimental group consisted of (21) students taught using teaching strategy given to the model of Ausubel (concept mapping), and control group consisting of (23) students taught using conventional teaching. The study tools consist of two instruments were developed, the achievement test and the trend scale towards biology, and after verifying the validity and reliability have been applied to study tools triabl group and then teaching the experimental group using the model of Ausubel (concept mapping) and the control group in the usual way. The results of study showed that there were statistically significant differences between the two groups on the achievement in favor of the experimental groups, in addition to the impact of teaching using the strategy of concept maps in developing the students' direction towards biology. In light of the study findings, some recommendations were offered.

Hypertension during pregnancy may lead to a serious condition called preeclampsia.Health cadre should be provided with information concerning identification of such risk. This study aimed to identify the impact of guidebook of pregnant woman with preeclampsia on knowledge and attitude in pregnant women in health cadre. The study design was quasi-experimental withnon-randomized pretest-posttest group control approach. This study involved 60 health cadres whom were assigned into two groups, intervention group (n= 30) and control group (n= 30) and recruited through purposive sampling technique. The results suggest that there was significant difference in health cadre’s attitude between both groups (p= 0.000). Variable of duration being a cadre is the most determinant factor affecting cadre’s attitude. Health promotion through guidebook of pregnant woman with preeclampsia was effective in improving health cadre’s attitude. Authors recommend health cadres to use the guidebook of pregnant woman with preeclampsia when enacting their duties.

This study investigated the effect of using proposed software by the students of Instructional Technology Department to acquire new instructional technology skills. To achieve the study objectives, the quasi-experimental research with both experimental and control groups was conducted among 40 second-level students of the Instructional Technology Department at Ibb University in the academic year 2018-2019. Participants took pre and post-tests in order to compare the statistical difference before and after the implementation of the proposed software. The research instrument used in this study was an observation card to measure the extent to which students have acquired the new instructional technology skills. After developing a list of new instructional technology skills, building the proposed software and conducting the treatment, the results showed that students in the experimental group were better than the control group in acquiring the new instructional technology skills. These results demonstrated the impact of using the proposed software for acquiring the new instructional technology skills compared to the conventional methods. The study recommended computerizing specialization courses of the Instructional Technology Department, using self-learning methods that would help students acquire better skills so as to improve and develop the learning process. Emotional competence (EC) is important for children’s social adjustment and sustainable development. The present study designed a school based emotional competence learning (ECL) program and examined its effectiveness with 56 Chinese preschoolers aged 5–6. A quasi-experimental design was employed to examine the impact of the ECL program on young children’s EC. Two upper Kindergarten classes (Daban) for children aged 5–6 were randomly assigned as experimental group (n = 31, 42% girls, Mage = 68.31 months, SD = 3.75) and control group (n = 25, 44% girls, Mage = 68.16 months, SD = 3.77). The experimental group was engaged in a 15-week ECL program, whereas the control group had similar duration courses without emotional competence training. All the children were administered the Test of Emotion Comprehension, Expression Identification Task, and Emotion Regulation Strategy Inventory before and after the intervention. The results indicated no significant differences between the experimental and control groups in the pre-test. In contrast, the experimental group outperformed the control group in most EC components in the post-test. Meanwhile, the experimental group demonstrated greater increases in EC components. The findings suggest that this ECL program has strong potential as a school-based, structured program for enhancing children’s emotional competence. The educational implications of these findings are discussed.

The primary focus of this study was to determine the effect of portfolio assessment on final examination scores of EFL students’ writing skill. To determine the impact of portfolio-based writing assessment 40 university students who enrolled in composition course were initially selected and divided randomly into two experimental and control groups. A quasi-experimental research design was adopted in this study. In order to appraise the homogeneity of the experimental and control groups Comprehensive English Language Test (CELT) was employed at the beginning of the study. The pre-test was applied to both the experimental group and control group. Later in the study, a post-test of dependent variables was implemented for both groups. Data analysis was carried out by SPSS 16 statistical computer program .The statistical techniques being applied were the Levene statistic of One-Way ANOVA and the Paired-sample T-test. The results of the study revealed that that students whose work was evaluated by a portfolio system (portfolio-based assessment) had improved in their writing  and gained higher scores in final examination when compared to those students whose work was evaluated by the more traditional evaluation system (non-portfolio-based assessment).The findings of the present study highlighted the fact that portfolio assessment could be used as a complementary alternative along with traditional assessment to shed new light  on the process of writing.

Abstract: Self-Management Education, Hypoglycemia. Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disease that needs attention and care for a long time in order to prevent complications. People with DM must have good knowledge, skill, and behavior so they can manage their life by themselves. Research showed that 50–80%, people with DM have not enough knowledge to manage their disease. Through the self-management, people with diabetes can improve their competence in early detection of hypoglycemia so it would increase the quality of life and reduce the risk of developing complications. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of diabetes self-management education toward early detection of hypoglycemia among patients with diabetes. A quasi-experimental pre and post design with a control group was used to investigate the impact of using education on self-management. The participants were 40 that divided into intervention and control group. Purposive sampling was used to take the samples. T-Test was used to analyze the data. The competence of diabetes in early detection of hypoglycemia was an increase, from 6,1 with SD 13.7 to 71,7 with SD 19.2. Then, the model of Self Management education influenced the competence of people with diabetes in the early detection of hypoglycemia, P value 0,011 (α = 0,05). The findings demonstrate that self-management education could improve the competence of diabetes in the early detection of hypoglycemia.

The purpose of this study is to examine whether or not the integration of portfolio assessment as a part of the assessment practices in the Moroccan EFL context can have any significant impact on the Moroccan EFL students’ writing skills. Accordingly, the study adopted a quasi-experimental design with a sample of two separate groups with a total number of 48 common core students (24 students in each group). The two groups were randomly assigned into experimental and control groups. The experimental group benefited from ongoing portfolio-based writing assessment activities with various reflection and assessment techniques (i.e. self-and peer-assessment and teacher-student conferences) while the control group was tested using the regular summative writing achievement tests. The two groups were pre- and post-tested to determine the possible impact of the treatment. The experimental group students were also invited to share their views about portfolio assessment using written reflections. The results of the study showed that the students in the experimental group outperformed the students in the control group in their overall writing achievement as well as in their achievement at the level of various writing sub-skills. Additionally, the students’ reactions to the treatment show that the majority of the students had highly positive attitudes toward it in spite of the few reservations they raised.

The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of concept mapping as a teaching strategy on the students’ achievement and interest in English. It is a quasi-experimental design of non- equivalent pre-test post-test control group is used. Stratified random sampling technique is adapted in selecting the 250 students from the different schools in the Philippines. Two research instruments is developed by the researchers and used for data collection are: Students’ English Achievement Test (STAT) and Students’ Interest Inventory (SII). Mean and Standard Deviation are used to answer the three research questions, while three hypotheses are tested at 0.05 error margins using the t-test analysis. The result of the findings showed that there is significant difference in the mean achievement scores and interest rating of students are exposed to concept mapping strategy in English. There is a significant impact on the gender of the respondents on achievement of students that are exposed to concept mapping strategy. The researchers recommended among other things: the integration of concept mapping strategy in the curriculum, adequate training of English teachers on the use of concept mapping strategy.
