The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of concept mapping as a teaching strategy on the students’ achievement and interest in English. It is a quasi-experimental design of non- equivalent pre-test post-test control group is used. Stratified random sampling technique is adapted in selecting the 250 students from the different schools in the Philippines. Two research instruments is developed by the researchers and used for data collection are: Students’ English Achievement Test (STAT) and Students’ Interest Inventory (SII). Mean and Standard Deviation are used to answer the three research questions, while three hypotheses are tested at 0.05 error margins using the t-test analysis. The result of the findings showed that there is significant difference in the mean achievement scores and interest rating of students are exposed to concept mapping strategy in English. There is a significant impact on the gender of the respondents on achievement of students that are exposed to concept mapping strategy. The researchers recommended among other things: the integration of concept mapping strategy in the curriculum, adequate training of English teachers on the use of concept mapping strategy. <p align="center"><strong>ABSTRAK</strong></p><p><strong>Background:</strong> One of nutritious problems susceptibly encountred in the world nowadays is kid’s stunting. Stunting is a failure of growth condition and cronical nutritious problems caused by poor nutritious supply because of improper meal provisions in long term growth consumptions. Stunting could be primarily prevented by increasing knowledge about stunting prevention through consuming moringa oleifera regularly. <strong>The aim:</strong> This study is intended to know the impact of education on mother’s knowledge for stunting prevention through regular moringa oleifera consumption. <strong>Research Method: </strong>This research applied a quasi experimental design by generating non equivalent control group which complied two groups; 30 subjects (mothers) were considered as treatment group; whereas, other 30 subjects (mothers) were taken as control group. Thus sampling technique applied was consecutive sampling. <strong>Results:</strong> The study showed that there was a significant impact on education score before and after intervention effects towards the treatment group (p=0,000); whereas there was no significant difference on the control group (p=0,184). The statistical analysis applied independent sample t-test which showed if educational aspect significantly impacted on the increase of mother’s knowledge (p=0,000). <strong>Conclusion:</strong> Educational aspect impacted on mother’s knowledge for stunting prevention through moringa oleifera.</p>

Hypertension during pregnancy may lead to a serious condition called preeclampsia.Health cadre should be provided with information concerning identification of such risk. This study aimed to identify the impact of guidebook of pregnant woman with preeclampsia on knowledge and attitude in pregnant women in health cadre. The study design was quasi-experimental withnon-randomized pretest-posttest group control approach. This study involved 60 health cadres whom were assigned into two groups, intervention group (n= 30) and control group (n= 30) and recruited through purposive sampling technique. The results suggest that there was significant difference in health cadre’s attitude between both groups (p= 0.000). Variable of duration being a cadre is the most determinant factor affecting cadre’s attitude. Health promotion through guidebook of pregnant woman with preeclampsia was effective in improving health cadre’s attitude. Authors recommend health cadres to use the guidebook of pregnant woman with preeclampsia when enacting their duties.

Concept mapping is a teaching strategy that helps students to organize information and facts for knowledge representation. It can be used to help students understand science subject matters and concepts. The study sougth to determine the impact of the concept mapping in teaching science among Grade 12 students in Maguindanao. Specifically, this study aims to determine the students scores in a test before and after the introduction of concept mapping strategy. Likewise, the study determined the significant improvement of the students’ scores after the concept mapping strategy in instruction. The single group pretest-posttest design was used with a detailed lesson plan. The multiple choice type of test and consists of 25 items with lesson plan was the main tool for data gathering The mean, frequencey and percentage counts were used to describe the pretest and posttest scores of the students. The t-test was used to determine the significant difference between the students’ pretest and posttest scores. The t-value was set at 0.05 levels of significance. Findings from the study showed that there were significantly improve the scores of the pretest and posttest of the Grade 12 students in Maguindanao. This implies that the scores of the Grade 12 students improved significantly after the exposure of the concetp mapping strategy. This mean that use concetp mapping strategy increased the students’ scores.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to evaluate a psychosocial treatment program for prisoners incarcerated because of methamphetamine use. It compared the outcomes of prisoners who received the program while incarcerated, those who were released and received the treatment as part of community-based drug recovery program and a waitlist-control group (WC) with no treatment. Design/methodology/approach A quasi-experimental design was use with pre- and post-test surveys administered to three groups: a WC group, a pre-release treatment-while-incarcerated (TWI) group, and a post-release outpatient treatment group (OP). Surveys measured recovery skills, life skills and substance use disorder (SUD) symptoms were administered before and after the intervention. Findings Results revealed that at baseline OP and TWI had significant higher recovery skills compared to WC group. However, in terms of life skills, there was no significant difference observed among the WC, OP and TWI group at baseline. TWI had a significantly lower number of SUD symptoms compared to the WC group at baseline. As hypothesized, findings revealed significant changes in recovery and life skills among the OP and TWI group compared to the WC group. No significant change in SUD scores were observed for all groups. Research limitations/implications A major limitation of the study was the use of a quasi-experimental design because legal issues did not allow a randomized control trial. Future research using randomized controlled trial designs would provide more robust conclusions on the impact of the intervention. The study design was also limited to pre- and post-evaluation. Further studies are encouraged to look at longitudinal outcomes of appears on SUD symptoms and possibility of relapse. Practical implications Given that there were no significant differences in outcomes between OP and TWI groups, results suggest that the program may serve either as a pre- or post-release program for incarcerated drug users. However, results also suggest that completion is higher when the program is used as a pre-release program. Delivering the program prior to release also reduces challenges related to attrition including conflict in schedules and the lack of resources for transportation. Social implications The study suggests the value of psychosocial treatment as opposed to punitive approaches in dealing with drug use. In particular, delivering interventions prior to release can prepare participants for problems they may encounter during reintegration and prevent recidivism. In a country where drug-related killings are on the rise, the study presents an alternate and restorative justice approach. Originality/value The study addresses a dearth in the literature on psychosocial intervention for methamphetamine users. It also fills a vacuum in studies from developing countries such as the Philippines.

<p><em>Generally, the performance of students in organic chemistry in Zambia is not encouraging. This can be attributed to the nature of the subject in addition to other factors. This study explored the composite effect of concept mapping and ICT on students’ performance in selected topics in organic chemistry. One hundred and thirty-four grade 12 students were involved. Data was collected using an organic chemistry performance test. A pre-test, the post-test quasi-experimental design was adopted. The study comprised of three</em><em> </em><em>groups randomly assigned to experimental group one, experimental group two and a control group. Experimental group one was taught using concept mapping, experimental group two was taught using a combination of concept mapping and ICT and the control group was taught using conventional methods (discussion). ANOVA results for the three groups were F (2,131) = 2.237 and p = 0.111. This indicates that there was no significant difference amongst the three groups at the beginning of the study. After treatment the results revealed that experimental group two outperformed the other two groups with a p valuep-value</em><em> </em><em>0 at F (2,131) = 2.237 at ? = 0.05. Post hoc analysis using Fisher’s </em><em>L</em><em>east </em><em>S</em><em>ignificant </em><em>D</em><em>ifference (LSD) test showed that the mean scores were statistically significant amongst the three groups. A very large effect was seen between experimental group one and control and between experimental group two and control. A sizable effect was seen between experimental group one and two. The conclusion is that using concept mapping with ICT has a positive effect on the performance of students in organic chemistry. The results corroborate the findings of studies that the use of concept mapping and ICT teaching strategy improves the performance of students. Consequently, this study seems to offer a positive solution towards the enhancement of students’ performance in organic chemistry in secondary schools.</em></p>

This study was motivated by the low skill of expressing opinions in class VIII SMP Negeri 5 Bandung because students tend to participate less actively in in expressing opinions. The methods used in this research was quasi-experimental using the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The purpose of this study were to know the impact of the project based learning Weebly Blog  on the offering opinion skill in experimental class and control class. This study sample was taken with purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques used in this study were essay tests and questionnaires. The researcher employed Kolmogorov-Smirnov test of normality as an analysis technique and hypothesis testing with t-test. The results showed that there was no significant difference between the results of the study in the experimental class and the control class. It is known based on the acquisition of sig. (2-tailed), the average value of the experimental class pre-test of 57.6, while the control class is 64.7. After being given treatment, both of them get 68. Based on the statistical data processing, the average value of the experimental class was not able to achieve greater acquisition of the control class. That is, the implementation of Weebly Blog project-based learning is not effective in improving opinion skills compared to the application of portfolio-based project learning.Keywords: Project Based Learning, Weebly Blog, Offering Opinion Skill.

This study is aimed at investigating the difference of students’ civics achievement between those who are taught by Think Pair Share model based on concept mapping and those who are taught by conventional learning model of the fifth grade students in Elementary School of Cluster I in Petang District. It is a quasi-experimental research using non-equivalent post-test only control group design. The population of this research is 102 students in grade V in Elementary School of Cluster I Petang District. The samples of this research are fifth grade students of SD Negeri 3 Carangsari as experimental group and fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Carangsari as control group. The data of civics achievement were collected by using multiple choice tests. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistical analysis (t-test). The result showed that tcount= 3,83 and ttable = 2,03 (tcount>ttable) which can be concluded that there are significant difference between the students’ civics achievement between those who were taught by Think Pair Share learning model based on concept mapping and those who were taught by the conventional learning model in grade V in Elementary School of Cluster I Petang District of Badung Regency in academic year 2017/2018.

The purpose of this study was inquiring The Impact of the reciprocal Teaching Strategy on the Development of Achievement in Islamic Education in Seventh Grade Students in Jordan. To achieve goals of this study, a test has been developed to observe the Development of Achievement. The researcher adopted a quasi- experimental approach in which the experimental group consisting of (30) students was taught in accordance with reciprocal Teaching Strategy. At the same time, the controlled group consisting of (30 students) was taught in the traditional way. The tests and the motive measuring was applied prior and post- teaching on both groups. The Analysis of Covariance results (Test- t) indicated a significant difference at (α≤0.05) between the two groups, which is attributed to the reciprocal Teaching Strategy, in developing the Acquiring Concepts in Islamic , of Learning Islamic Education Course for the experimental group. The results also indicated variation in the performance of (the experimental group) students in the posttest of the reciprocal Teaching Strategy (in developing the Academic achievement The study recommended introducing the reciprocal Teaching Strategy in the teaching of Islamic Education Course, and conducting other similar studies in different educational stages.

<p>This research aimed to analyze the effectiveness of constructivist learning using guided discovery models on the concept of a regulatory system for curiosity and anti-narcotics attitudes. This research used a quasi-experimental and pre-experimental design. The population was all of the 4th semester MIA classes of SMA Negeri 1 Salatiga which consists of seven classes. Samples were taken with a convenience sampling technique.  MIA 2.4 and 5.4 as the experimental group and MIA 3.4 and 4.4 as the control group. The data in this research were collected by the scale of curiosity and anti-narcotics attitude. Data were analyzed with descriptive analyzed and t-test. The result showed as follows: there is a significant difference at the end of the curiosity and anti-narcotics attitude of constructivist learning using guided discovery model compared with direct instruction model learning; the average of student’s curiosity and anti-narcotics attitude score ≥ 3,00 on constructivist learning using guided discovery model. It is concluded that constructivist learning using a guided discovery model is effectively completed learning outcomes of the curiosity and anti-narcotics attitude on the regulatory system concept.</p>

The most common cause of maternal death worldwide is postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) and Active Management of Third Stage of Labour (AMTSL) is the most important prophylactic intervention for prevention of PPH. A study was undertaken to assess the effect of AMTSL with and without uterine massage on maternal outcome among postnatal mothers in a selected hospital, WB. In this quasi-experimental study, Total 60 (Experimental Group-30, Control Group-30) postnatal mothers who undergone spontaneous vaginal delivery were selected by non-probability purposive sampling technique followed by randomization. The uterine massage is applied for 1 min immediately after placental delivery to 2 hours of postpartum at every 15 mins interval. The results revealed that there was no statistically significant difference of mean amount of postpartum bleeding between experimental and control group at 1st hour, 2nd hour, 24 hours, and 48 hours [t1= 1.06, t2= 1.52, t3=0.47, t4=0.26 at df (58), p>0.05]. The general condition (BP, Pulse, Respiration) after 1st hour, 2nd hour, 24 hours and 48 hours were comparable and statistically not significant between the two groups. There was no significant association between amount of postpartum bleeding and obstetrical parameters like parity, gravida, POG, presence of episiotomy, birth weight, time of placental delivery, presence of tear and time of initiation of breast feeding etc. for both groups. Based on the results of the current study, it can be concluded that the mothers who received the uterine massage along with AMTSL get no additional benefit as compared to control group.
