In 2015 the United Nations approved the 2030 Agenda which established 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The importance of these SGDs to universities, and universities’ commitment to them, requires not only involvement but also the development of research projects, instruments and practices that enable the SDGs to be carried out. Conflict is inherent within any social group and the need to perceive, analyse and manage it is crucial in order to move towards sustainable social development. This research paper analyses conflict existing within the university environment. It specifically relates to students studying for two degrees at the University of Granada (Spain): a degree in Social Work and a degree in Labour Relations and Human Resources. The main instrument used to gather information was a survey addressed to students of both degrees. As a quantitative research technique, it has allowed us to gather evidence about and analyse students’ perceptions of conflict. The main results reveal the existence of conflict resulting from interactions between the students themselves, interactions between the students and teaching staff and interactions between the students and service and administrative staff (SAS). Central to perceptions of conflict existing within the university environment are the professional and educational interests of students, as well as issues relating to academic assessment and excessive bureaucracy.

Abstract Human Resources Management in Higher Education Institutions in Poland The paper presents the diagnosis of the human resources management in Polish higher education institutions. The analysis of source literature was applied as a research method. The essence and components of HRM in connection with the university management system were discussed, the theoretical solutions, including those resulting from the provisions of the Law, and their practical implementations, were given a broad outline. The directions of changes concerning HRM that have recently taken place in HEIs were indicated. In conclusion it was stated that the human resources management in Polish higher education institutions still requires improvement, primarily in the areas of motivation and remuneration, evaluation and development of employees. It requires the improvement of the university management system, a reliable development of its mission, vision and strategy, and on the basis of those - the development of personnel strategy, and HRM processes, procedures and tools. It has been suggested that the inclusion of university employees, particularly the research and teaching staff, in the management process (through the participatory management style), can contribute to both improving the process and developing and improving the personnel function.

The world is facing the notion of social responsibility wherever it turns. In this context, corporations and also universities are encouraged to behave socially responsibly. The responsibility of the universities is emphasized, as an educational institution, to improve the employability of their graduates. Graduate employability depends, among other factors, on external determinants of the student, which the university can influence. However, there is no consensus on how to measure them, and the scales developed to date have not been properly validated. The chapter proposes scales to measure the determinants of employability related to the university: university institution, university faculty, and teaching staff. The results show the structure of these scales, based on a sample of 816 students, and assesses its psychometric properties: content validity, dimensionality, reliability, and convergent, discriminant, and nomological validity. These scales can be used for future studies in behavioural psychology, human resources management, or education.

This study presents a sustainability competencies map (SCM) for Business Administration and Management (BAM) disciplines as a tool to support education in sustainability at the university level. The study describes in detail the design and elaboration of the map based on the competencies defined by the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) and complemented with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) adopted by the United Nations. In addition, to externally evaluate the proposed SCM, we conducted a series of interviews with top managers and founders of five organizations that vary in size and industry. As the main contribution, the SCM for BAM studies is presented, containing 58 learning objectives. The qualitative research framework performed to obtain evidence from the interviewees showed that the holistic dimension of the proposed SCM is highly valued by the interviewed practitioners. Additionally, the SCM’s division of competencies into three levels of achievement was considered practical and helpful to measure them. Finally, the interviewees expressed concerns regarding the implementation of the SCM in real classroom, calling for the necessity of special training for teachers and flexibility of higher education system. Reinforced by the interviewees’ opinions, we believe that the SCM for BAM education presented here will facilitate the design of different methodologies by the teaching staff to guide students towards compliance with the 17 SDGs in 2030.

[full article and abstract in English] The human potential of science is the basis for the formation of the scientific elite, which has declined significantly in recent decades in Russia. The process of forming the human resources potential of a higher school science must begin with the qualitative organization of research activities of students. Then it is necessary to conduct training of scientific personnel in postgraduate study. At the final stage after graduation from the graduate school, it is necessary to carry out measures to secure the trained scientific personnel in higher education with the replacement of a certain post. The human resources potential of science should be considered as an integral characteristic of the available capabilities of each employee. It is important not only to properly assess this potential, but be able to form it. The training of highly qualified personnel is an important strategic stage in the formation of the human potential of science and increasing the competitiveness of the university, taking into account the presence of such negative factors as the aging of scientific personnel, the transfer of scientific and teaching staff to other spheres of the economy, etc.  The competitiveness of a higher educational institution largely depends on postgraduate education, which significantly affects the rating indicators of the university. In recent years, there has been a considerable increase in the number of university students with disabilities in Spain, as in other countries. Access to and completion of studies in higher education has been identified as a factor that improves the educational and labor inclusion of these people. However, this group of students faces difficulties in completing their studies, as they encounter problems in carrying out their internships, which is an obligatory element of many degrees. Our quantitative research study presents the results of the Generating Professional Skills (GPS) program for the development of vocational maturity based on training itineraries, carried out by the University Unit of Attention to People with Disability. The main results show an increase in vocational maturity and position tutoring as a fundamental part of the educational inclusion process, as well as a key role of the support services for those with disabilities to experience a more inclusive and quality education, thus aligning with objective 4 of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. SDG. The information collected allows us to conclude that these programs increase the vocational maturity and the knowledge and competencies of students with disabilities and, therefore, are key elements for the success in accessing and obtaining internships and for the successful completion of their studies.

The purpose of the research is to analyze the opinions of the graduates in Social Work of the University of La Laguna about their Study Plan, in order that it can serve to evaluate, improve and update this and other curricula of the discipline in other university centres. This work has a descriptive quantitative method and used a questionnaire for data collection, with 102 participants and statistical treatment with SPSS. The main results show a great demand to adjust, firstly, the teaching methods of the teaching staff to the new needs of their students, and secondly, the subjects and contents with the current social realities. Likewise, it points towards a disconnection between university-society, reflected in the problems derived from curricular practices and the application of workshops with external professionals and real practical cases as two of the favourites activities as content of practical classes. Therefore, studies in Social Work in Spain must remain in constant review so as not to be outdated, since social reality, its object of study and analysis, is an element in constant change.
