The rheological behavior of mineral slurries shows the level of interaction or aggregation among particles, being a process control variable in processes such as slurry transportation, dehydration, and wet grinding systems. With the aim to analyze the effect of medium viscosity in wet grinding, a series of monosize grinding ball mill tests were performed to determine breakage parameters, according to the generally accepted kinetic approach of grinding processes. A rheological modifier (polyacrylamide, PAM) was used to modify solutions viscosity. A model was proposed by means of dimensional analysis (Buckingham’s Pi theorem) in order to determine the behavior of the specific breakage rate (Sj) for a ball grinding process in terms of the rheology of the system. In addition to this, a linear adjustment was established for the relationship between specific breakage rates with and without PAM addition, based on the reduced viscosity, μr. Furthermore, within a certain interval of viscosity, it was proved that an increment of viscosity can increase the specific breakage rate, and consequently the grinding degree.

A rheological modifier was used to prepare solutions with viscosities of 1, 4, 6 and 8 cp, which exhibited Newtonian behavior. These solutions were later used to prepare suspensions of monosize quartz (53, 45 and 38 microns) at 60 % in solids. Monosize grinding tests in a laboratory ball mill were performed to determine breakage parameters, with different ball diameters. A model was developed to determine the specific rate of breakage in terms of the system rheology. With this model, it was demonstrated that an increase in suspending fluid viscosity until 6 cp, leads to an increased fracture rate and consequently affects the grinding degree. The above test is considered as an alternative for improving and optimizing such operations with excellent quality products with low energy and steel consumption, thereby minimizing environmental impact.

Grinding rate of mica particles by a planetary ball mill was studied by the measurement of specific breakage rate and breakage distribution parameter for different size ranges. The relationships between specific breakage rate and breakage distribution parameter with particle size were obtained from the measured results. The results show that grinding rate decreases fast as particle size decreases. Using integraldifferential equation for the mass fraction in grinding process with experimental obtained relationships of specific breakage rate and breakage distribution parameter with particle size, grinding process of mica particles are simulated by the 4thRunge-Kutta method, and particle size distribution between simulated and measured has been compared. The comparison results show that the specific breakage rate of mica particles was proportional to grinding time.

Background and Purpose: Efforts in bringing about changes to fishers' lives are often met with obstacles due to their lack of participation in empowerment programmes as well as their excessive reliance on external assistance. However, such situations are said to be the results of their level of education and work experience. This paper also examines the relationship between work experience with empowerment and formal education as a control variable to the relationship. Therefore, this paper aims to observe the reality of empowerment among fishing communities from the lens of participation and self-reliance among fishers in Terengganu, Malaysia. Concurrently, this study also reviews the theme mentioned above from the lens of formal education and work experience and their impacts on the fishing community empowerment.   Methodology: This study used a survey design and involved 220 coastal fishers, who were identified through multi-stage sampling. Data were gathered using a questionnaire, and data analysis was done through descriptive statistics and the Analysis of Variance Test (ANCOVA).   Findings: The empowerment of the fishing community in this study is not influenced by the number of years they have spent as fishers. On the other hand, their level of education plays a pertinent influence on their empowerment. Such a finding clearly shows that experience is not only a major factor in increasing the empowerment of the fishing community.   Contributions: This study contributes to our understanding that it is undeniably true that formal and informal education play an integral role in empowering the fishing community, where through education, fishers are more participative in their community and exhibit autonomy towards their work.   Keywords: Fishers, empowerment, formal education, experience, community development   Cite as: Tuan Sembok, T. AbstractIt is justified thatproblems related to the changes in structural and mechanical properties of plastic material and influence of structural elements of equipment and modes of implementation of the for-mation process on them are considered detail, taking into account empirical data, theoretical dependencies and results of physical experiments. It was established that during the mechanical influence of rollers with grooves on a structured dispersion plastic material in the node of injection of the molding machine, internal shear, and shearing deformation have a preponderant value. Accordingly, the productivity of machines is determined mainly by the structural parameters of the working bodies geometry, kinematics, and contact area. It is shown that increasing the pressure in the plastic material causes a decrease in its volume, but the relationship between pressure and volume has a nonlinear character. It has been established that regardless the variety of flour from which the plastic material was prepared for bagels, its moisture content and the duration of fermentation reduced viscosity of the effective plastic material along with the increase of the shear stress. The paper describes the refined rheological model of the Bingham body deformation, which develops instantaneously, and the velocity of the common elastic deformation in the dough is a simultaneous function of stresses and temperatures, which are close to exponential ones.

The purpose of earnings management practice is to reach the profit goals the company wants to achieve. Therefore, this study aims to determine the relationship between related party transactions and earnings management in Indonesia by balanced panel data from consumer goods companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) from 2017 to 2019. The number of samples used in this study was 102 firm-year observations. The results showed that related party transactions positively and significantly improved corporate earnings management, with discretionary accrual as a proxy. The presence of family ownership strengthens the relationship between related party transactions and earnings management. Also, it shows that the control variable: public accountant from BIG4, company size, company losses, and ROA affect accrual earnings management. The leverage does not affect accrual earnings management. The study result indicates that family business ownership encourages an entrenchment effect that is detrimental to the company. It is carried out through related party transactions then manipulated by using accrual earnings management practices.DOI: 10.26905/jkdp.v25i3.5778

The purpose of this study is to understand whether there is a relationship between train users’ perceptions of walkability in built environment of trip origin with access mode choice and between train users’ perceptions of walkability in built environment of trip destination with egress mode choice. Train users are who ride from Cicalengka station Bandung Regency, West Java, Indonesia. To analyze the relationship is used crosstab method. The perceptual factors about walkability are those perceived by the train users consisting of walking distance, safety, comfort, and secure from crime, both in origin and destination of the built environment. The mode choice consist of walking, paratransit, motorcycle taxi, and own vehicles (or others for egress mode). To better understand the relationship is used several control variables, that are trip purposes, train usage, gender, and age. For access trip there is another control variable, that is vehicle ownership. Train users' perceptions of walkability have a relationship with both the access and the egress mode choice, except for the security aspect. The influence of control variables on the relationship between perceptions of walkability with access/egress mode choice varies for walking distance, safety, and comfort.
