Stability testing of an active substance or finished product provides information of the variation of drug substance or final product with time influenced by a variety of environmental factors such as temperature, humidity and light. Knowledge gained from stability studies enables understanding of the effects of the environment on the drugs. The aim of our study was to determine the stability of cefuroxime axetil oral suspension at different temperature storage conditions (stored at room /20°C/ and refrigerated /5°C/ conditions). Determination of cefuroxime (as cefuroxime axetil) was performed by dissolution testing.Fractions of the released cefuroxime axetil were compared usingJ2 value. After interpolating data for dissolution profiles at room and refrigerated conditions the following f2values were obtained: 62,56; 56,32 and 36,18 on 3rd, 6th and 10th day, respectively. These values indicate similarities in drug release from analyzed cefuroxime axetil oral suspension on 3rd, 6th day, and differences on 10th day.Based on our results, we may assume that cefuroxime axetil oral suspension preserves its stability for 10 days after reconstitution under room and refrigerated conditions. It is obvious, according to the f2 value obtained on the 10th day, that there is a difference between the released ceforoxime axetil from oral suspension at room (87,68%) and refrigerated (92,35%) conditions. Concentration changes can be caused by the mechanisms associated with drug release and hydrolytical decomposition of the sample and higher temperatures during longer period of storage.

ABSTRACT Passion fruit has the peel (albedo and flavedo) as its major component and it can be used in the production of flour as source of nutrients and enrichment of food products. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the production of flours from passion fruit albedo and whole peel, verifying the influences of flavedo removal and maceration, as well as the variation in drying temperature (70 and 80 °C) on the physical and chemical characteristics of the flours. The flours has a light color with slight trend to red and stronger trend to yellow. Moisture content is within the limits established by the current norms of ANVISA (a maximum of 15%). The flavedo removal contributed to the increase of water, crude fiber, neutral detergent fiber and acid detergent fiber concentrations. However, it reduced moisture, ash, protein, lipids and carbohydrates concentrations. On the other hand, the maceration decreases luminosity, lipids and carbohydrates and increases the chromaticity a* and b* and moisture in the flours. In relation to the increase in temperature, a decrease was observed in the protein concentration and an increase in the concentration of ash and lipids. Based on centesimal composition, the flour should be prepared with whole peel without maceration and dried at 80 °C.

AbstractBackgroundDexamethasone is commonly used to treat a wide variety of diseases including oncological disorders. The aim of this study was to propose a liquid formulation of dexamethasone. Therefore we have developed and assessed the stability of a 5 mg/mL dexamethasone oral suspension.MethodsA stability-indicating analytical method, using HPLC-UV, was developed and fully validated according to well-recognized international guidelines. The dexamethasone suspension was prepared using dexamethasone acetate powder and Ora-SweetResultsThe mean dexamethasone concentration of the compounded oral suspensions was equal to 5.07±0.17 mg/mL. No colour modifications, precipitate or suspending troubles was observed throughout the storage period and the pH of the oral suspensions was decreased slightly, from 4.41±0.01 to 4.20±0.02. According to the dexamethasone content determined by HPLC-UV, whatever storage condition was used, no significant degradation of dexamethasone occurred over the 60 days of the study period.ConclusionDexamethasone oral suspension prepared according to our conditions is stable over 60 days under regular storage temperatures (at 4±2 °C or at 21±3 °C).

In the article, to study the physical, technological and physico-chemical characteristics of hazelnuts, promising varieties of hazelnuts were selected: Ata-baba, Oilseed hazelnuts, Ganja hazelnuts, Ashraf, Kudryavchik and Lombard hazelnuts. Their main dimensions, mass, core yield, solid shell thickness, etc. are measured and recorded. Some technological characteristics of the selected hazelnut varieties were studied. In accordance with the procedure, round-shaped hazelnuts, large and small of this size, were checked in factories for processing products with a diameter of less than 13.2 mm, and oblong nuts were taken as small nuts. Hazelnuts of the Ata-baba, Oilseed and Ashraf varieties became more suitable for processing on the equipment of the processing enterprise. One of the important parameters is the kernel output. The core output must be at least 35%. This indicator is 55.7% in the Ata-baba variety, 58% in the Oilseed hazelnuts. The Ganja variety had 54%. The main reserve substances of hazelnuts are proteins and lipids. The content of lipids in the studied varieties was 60.4–72.5%, proteins 15.8–17.8%, carbohydrates 11.4–20.11%, core moisture 3.98–7.49%. According to the certification requirements, the drained cores should not exceed 4%. Set coefficients of external and internal friction of hazelnuts with shell and core without shell so that when the humidity increases from 12% to 21% for xar of the fetus increases with 0.622 to 0.649, for dax with 0.461 to 0.523 accordingly, when the humidity increases core from 4% to 9% for xar with 0.570 to 0.603, for dax increased the odds with 0.418 to 0.453. This suggests that an increase in moisture content increases the ratio of external and internal friction of hazelnuts with shell and core without the shell. It was found that the damage to the fruit depends more on the humidity. It is considered important to maintain the moisture content of the product served for the breakdown within 14%.

Pt2RuMo/C catalysts were synthesized by the modified polyol method in the presence and absence of Li(C2H5)3BH (LBH), annealed at 600 °C under H2 atmosphere to improve the reduction of Pt and Ru to provide stronger interactions between Mo and another metals. LBH affected the physico-chemical characteristics of Pt2RuMo, that is, in the presence of LBH an increment of Mo(IV) amount and a decrease in the PtRu alloying degree were observed. The catalytic activity for hydrogen oxidation in the presence and absence of CO (CO tolerance) of the Pt2RuMo/C catalysts as anodes in polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) was compared to that of a commercial PtRu/C catalyst. The results indicated that the CO tolerance increased with an increase in Mo(IV) content, but the stability increased with an increment of the amount of Ru oxides in the catalysts.

The paper presents the synthesis of a new complex combination of a Bis-Schiff base with Mn(II) ions with great potential for antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activity. A new complex of the Salen-type ligand, 1-ethyl-salicylidene-bis-ethylene diamine was synthetized using Mn(II) ions. The chemical structure was confirmed through 1H-NMR and IR spectroscopy. The antimicrobial activities of the Bis-Schiff base and its complex were tested in comparison with Ampicillin, Chloramphenicol, Tetracycline, Ofloxacin and Nystatin. Those compounds were found to be active against Gram-positive or Gram-negative bacteria, and had an anti-inflammatory effect comparable to that of Indomethacin.
