The purpose of the article. In the process of our empirical research, we had the aim to examine the level of professional reliability of doctors who performed their professional duties during the COVID-19 pandemic in Ukraine. We assumed that the higher the level of professional reliability was, the more effectively doctors will perform their own professional activities in unusual, extreme conditions of their professional activity. To solve the problem of our research, a set of methods was used, the choice and combination of which have been determined by the subject, the purpose and the objectives of this research: - theoretical methods – theoretical and methodological analysis of scientific sources and available according to the problem of our research psychological approaches: their systematization, classification, generalization, theoretical modeling to study the phenomenon of professional reliability of doctors who worked in difficult conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ukraine; - empirical methods – the observation, the interview, a questionnaire, testing, the method of expert assessments, which have been used for a deeper, holistic research of the structure of professional reliability of doctors; psychological and pedagogical experiment in the form of the empirical studying of the formation of a structure of professional reliability of doctors. The results of the research. We proved, that for specialists of medical sphere of the activity with a high level of professional reliability there was a main characteristic: the ability to perform professional activities in special and extreme conditions, the formation of professional and moral culture of a doctor, the constant development of components of his/her professional competence, professional readiness and professional reflection, the ability to implement effective psychological and acmeological influences, the development of reflective culture, the formation of a harmonious “self-concept” in professional and managerial activities, the actualization of psychological mechanisms, conditions, factors and determinants of the person’s professional development, etc. In our opinion, the professional reliability of a doctor is characterized by: a high level of stable productivity (or efficiency) of the professional activity; a high level of professional qualification and developed professional competence; optimal intensity of the professional activity; a high level of accuracy and reliability; a high level of organization of the professional activity; low indirectness (depending on purely external factors); creativity; the possibility of developing the subject of the professional activity and ensuring the actual professional growth; focus on achieving positive socially significant goals and results. Conclusions. We proved that bifurcation space of a professionally reliable Doctor includes: the ability to transfer professional experience; a high stable productivity of professional activity; the responsibility for the decisions having been made and their implementation; the ability to achieve own goals in any case; professional knowledge and the experience to be the director of some medical organization; the ability to act in critical situations and situations of cognitive dissonance; the ability to control the flow of doctors’ professional activity; a high level of professional competence; the ability to make and clearly implement their own decisions. If these components of a professionally reliable Doctor are formed at a high level, the Doctor can perform his/her professional activity with a high degree of its productivity, in difficult pandemic conditions, in situations of stress and cognitive dissonance. The latter emphasizes on the difference between the capabilities and the style of internal activity of Doctors who provide their activity in a period of COVID-19 pandemic: the ability to achieve meanings until the moment of meaningful acceptance of surrounding us reality and move on – to expand the meaning of the symbolic space (which is the COVID-19 pandemic) and, according to this, to show the measures of our own meaningful space (human life in a pandemic). Such conditions significantly encourage doctors to improve themselves as real professionals, to update their own professional reliability.

The article addresses the problem of a current trend in foreign and domestic psychological science which is self-regulation among professionals working under extreme conditions. Self regulation in risk situations plays a crucial role in making decisions and choosing strategies of behavior under conditions of uncertainty, which is not only a rational process implemented by cognitive mechanisms but also an emotional process including people’s attitudes toward a situation. A set of extreme professions includes service of managers in the penitentiary service, which is associated with emotionally intense social activity and involves a constant presence of pronounced negative stressors. Studying the problem of self-regulation related to the interaction of managers with the socium of extreme nature focuses on answering the key question: What psychological and situational factors contribute to a sufficient level of self-regulation for successful activities under stress conditions? To analyze the system of self-regulation among managers in the penitentiary service we conducted a research using 6 standardized psychodiagnostic technique: Behaviour Self-Regulation Style (V. I. Morosanova, E. M. Konoz); Burnout Assessment, adapted by A. A. Rukavishnikov; Personal Aggressiveness and Propensity to Conflicts (E. P. Ilyin and P. A. Kovalev); Rapid Evaluation of Management Potential (N. P. Fetiskin, V. V. Kozlov, G. M. Manuylov); Evaluation of Communicative and Organizational Aptitudes (V. V. Sinyavsky and B. A. Fedorishin); Orientation Styles of Professional Communication (N. P. Fetiskin, V. V. Kozlov, G. M. Manuylov). The principal assumption in this research was that the structure of individual features of self-regulation (a self-regulation style) and its levels was determined by one’s personal characteristics and professional-environmental factors. The study objectives were: to identify the relationship between the level of self-regulation, overall mental state, and management potential in managers involved in extreme activity (working in the penitentiary service); to reveal psychological factors for optimization of managerial competencies under extreme conditions of professional activity; and to identify main difficulties and competence deficiencies for subsequent corrective and psychotherapeutic interventions. The research conducted enabled us: to study in details the peculiarities of self-regulation, overall mental state, and management potential among managers in the penitentiary system; and to determine which system components require intentional development in order to mitigate deficiencies and to increase the effectiveness of managers. Key words: self-regulation; manager; professional competence; extreme profession; penitentiary service.

Psychological readiness is a complex phenomenon that includes a variety of motivational and regulatory components, a system of cognitive patterns of future activities and working conditions, predictive assessments, as well as managing your own emotional reactions. In the professional field of «Man-Technique», the subject of labor, managing a complex technical system, must have a high level of stress tolerance and self-regulation, which gives particular importance to the problem of professional diagnosis and selection. Subjective criteria can catch the «subtle» emotional experiences, the nuances of cognitive-affective processes that simultaneously occur in the psyche of the individual. Objective criteria — often require a rather expensive research procedure. In this regard, diagnostic techniques that combine efficiency and short duration with validity criteria are most in demand. To test the assumptions of their effectiveness, a study was conducted of psychological readiness for professional activity among novice drivers, as well as among cadets-pilots of civil aviation who begin training flight training. Samples «Falling words», «Manifest words» study the perceptual mechanisms underlying the subject’s interpretation of the situation as potentially stressful, diagnosing perceptive alertness / protection. A professional who has a high willingness to interpret the received signals as stressful will recognize these words faster, which will be reflected in the objective criterion — a short signal recognition time. A comparison of the data with the results of the coping tests revealed that for novice drivers, perceptual vigilance prevails over perceptual protection. More experienced drivers often discharge suppressed emotions (usually hostility, anger), directing them to objects that are less dangerous or more accessible than those that caused negative emotions and feelings. The psychological readiness for training flights among cadets needs an additional study of perceptual and emotional components that will be used in self-regulation of resistance to emotional and psychological stress associated with upcoming professional activities.

Introduction – socio-political and socio-economic changes in society largely define a developing personality. Goal – to conduct a psycho-diagnostic evaluation of the changes in basic personal characteristics of young students in the context of Russian society development. Results: the comparison of two groups of medical student (both groups are identical: the second course, the department of general medicine, Yaroslavl State Medical University). Testing of 1992 (n = 243) and 2016 (n = 197) using the 16-PF Questionnaire and the POI reveals two main tendencies. The first tendency is the increase of the general level of tension (the 16-PF scales: C, I, O, Q4 – all the quantitative indices have increased, p < 0.01, Student's t-test). The second tendency is a significant growth of the efficiency of personal characteristics providing self-regulation and voluntary behaviour (the 16-PF scales: E, G, H, Q3 are analogous to the first tendency; the SAV scale of the POI also reports a growth with high statistical values). Discussion: the respondents from the first group were born in 1972–1973. Prenatal maturation, babyhood, junior school, and early adolescent age took place in the epoch of a high degree of stability and succession in the development of society. The respondents from the second group were born in 1998–1999. The samples are separated by a generation. The second group (2016 testing) reports a high level of neuro-psychic tension during socio-psychological adaptation and, consequently, the growth of efforts in developing voluntary regulation of social behavior. Evidently, there is value of self-actualization in the new reality.
